Ah, ok. Thank you for the reply.

I have one more question, then. Since y'all are taking 2% of our winnings should we win, then would it be correct to just subtract two points from whatever odds we will be offering / accepting to gain our "true" odds?

For instance, let's say I took Denver at -3 at +105. Would it be correct to just say that if I won, then it would be at +103 instead?

No it would be 2 percent of +105 which would be like +102

Same here, Matchbook. I use Norton Internet Security 2003 v6.0.4.35 and I can't see your website unless I disable it.

Mr Matchbook:

There is a big problem with your xml feed for live lines. The problem is all the lines and alternate lines and first half lines are placed between <spread> and </spread> or <total> and </total> tags and there is no way to tell which line is the posted game line, which one is the alternate line or first half line. See below
Other books use with xml feed like pinnacle or betjamaica use a different tags for each such as "spread" tag for game spread, "spread_h1" tag for first half spread and "spread_alt" for alternate game spread. This will fix the problem

Same with totals

Would you please ask your programmer to fix this??

Matchbook,

In addition to taking your 2% commission do you take positions by trading your own house account? Not that there's anything wrong with that, just wondering...

Grandmaster B and Phigment: I've reported this to Tech and should have some advice on firewall settings shortly.

NightHawk: I'm told that this problem was fixed last week, and it's likely you are using an old XML feed. Email support@matchbook.com or give us a ring, and we'll get you on the new feed.

Phigment: Matchbook has some structured deals in place with large-scale market makers rather than trading for our own account. Note, however, that these market makers enter their bets using the same interface as the rest of our customers. We recently helped one market maker hook up a program he wrote that allows him to enter hundreds of prices at a time without clicking buttons. But his orders still stand in line like everyone else's and he cannot circumvent the 3-second delay for live betting markets.

Good to know. Can you tell me how orders are queued, is it Time then Size, or Size then time? I.E. If I offer $200 on Team A - 7 at -120, and then a market maker comes along and offers $2000 at the same price, would my order be filled first?

Now THAT is a good question.

I've spoken to your live support in the past.
I've even sent you e-mails. In the end, I let it go, but as you're around, here it is one more time.
You will NEVER (N E V E R) make it big for live betting if you do not introduce a manual market refresh button. I don't know if it's in your plans to enlarge the IP calender, but I'm telling you again, it doesn't matter if you claim that your prices refresh on change. It wouldn't have mattered even if they were streaming. You HAVE to offer a manual market refresh. It is impossible to bet in play otherwise. (I've timed market refreshes on your site, they're absolutely random with up to 2 seconds difference from one computer to another).

Santo: It's price, then time, with no consideration given to size. So in your example, your $200 offer would get filled before the $2,000 offer. We have a section in our Market Rules called "Order Matching and Fills" that covers this in more detail.

Zee: Very sorry if you didn't get a direct response on this topic earlier. The good news is that a manual refresh button is on the way, and we will be expanding our Live Betting calendar. As many of you know, live betting is the "killer app" for betting exchanges, as everyone can trade against each other instead of being funneled through a single market maker.

As for the site refresh rates, there are "High," "Medium," and "Low" options you can select from our Settings page--perhaps that's been the source of any inconsistencies you've noticed?

I still dont get it. Maybe someone can explain it to me. How is matchbook eliminating the "middle Man" as proclaimed on their site. I wanted to put a bet in on the Steelers this Sunday. Matchbook has them -8 -109. Pinny has them -7.5 + 101. Certainly no matchbook advantage there. And in the explanation they gave to me earlier in this thread they said average odds were -110/+106. Looks like there is still a middle man there. So we are still paying juice plus fee on our winning bets. Am I missing something here?

The market maker has to make a profit. You can put in a bet at any price you want, and if someone else wants to match it at that price, then you've both eliminated the middle man.

But that isnt the way it works. Go check out ALL the lines, every one of them has a negative higher than the positive. To me that is juice. so on a losing bet you are paying juice and on a winning bet paying a fee. They get you both ways. Eliminating the middle man would be -105/+105 or better yet -100/+100. Reg books just charge the loser. I dont have a problem with a book charging juice but saying there is no middle man when there is, bothers me.

They're not a book. I can put in a bet at +104, and it appears for you to take at -104... in that sense it is +104/-104.. if there were more offers it would be a tighter spread. So in that sense you'd be paying juice to me, not the book, and the winner would pay a fee to Matchbook.

Am I reading this right, that there are free Neteller withdrawls, not even a "once a month" type thing? What's this about fees to deposit from Neteller, I've never had a book that didn't cover the deposit end...

Free 50$, no Neteller withdrawl fees...I'm just about convinced to give it a shot.

FYI, unmatched bets are cancelled at the start of the game. At this point they don't have much of any live betting.
