Stay with it guys. I tried it last night and made offers and had them accepted. Carried on more of that with live betting. I played both sides of the game and ended up winning some cash. It's like scalp as you go.

Start small with some ridiculous offers for a buck and see if anyone takes your action.l

Still going strong on the free $50, up to $362 now. I liked the in-game betting on the Indy/NE, taking the over 48.5 at -149, middle of the 3rd quarter. The line shot way up just after. Will deposit the $100 in a day or 2 to make a withdrawal.

My understanding is that you would then have to wager $100 before withdrawing.

The $$$ amounts next to each odds figure is the total amount available to wager on those specific odds.

Just thought we'd drop by to answer some of the questions on the board, and to invite you to ask more if you have them. Our $50 promotion has generated a frenzy of activity, mostly among legitimate sports bettors. Unfortunately every man, woman, and child from Estonia also tried to sign up at Matchbook, along with about 40% of the great nation of Poland. They jammed up our live chat lines and flooded our inboxes with unintelligible emails, so apologies if we missed anyone's inquiry. We're always very happy to talk to new customers about exchange betting.

Stacilu: Matchbook doesn't offer parlays and teasers because it's unlikely someone else would take the exact opposite selections of whatever 3- or 4-team parlay you wanted to bet.

Ronaldn: The juice depends solely on the gap between the favorite price and the dog price. So there is no juice at -106/+106, there's very little juice at -110/+106 (a price typically found at Matchbook), and there's huge amounts of juice at -126/+106 (as at most sportsbooks).

Jasin4000 and Lawrence: Every new signup gets $50 to play with, so there is no bonus code. The only terms are that you eventually need to deposit and bet $100 of your own money, and we can only give one bonus per household. We're giving people a free roll, essentially, because we find that Matchbook customers are very "sticky." Once they get to know the site, they never leave--except maybe to bet those parlays and teasers.

Tgun: The default odds on your order coupon will be the best odds that are available at that moment (say -104), but you can always change those odds to -102, submit your order, and see if some takes it. Usually someone does. If you want to bet at a different pointspread, just give us a ping, and we'll set up a new market if there seems to be general interest in it.

Mr Newlywed: The $ amounts you see represent how much is available to bet at that moment. The site is very dynamic though, with customers generating new $ offers all the time. Check out our "How to Play" and "Key" sections for quick, simple descriptions of how to place bets on an exchange.

Matchbook,

Please explain this in more detail.

Also, I've clicked on market maker and seen the fields come up. I don't quite understand market making and auto stake.

Thanks.

Technical support question for Matchbook

Any idea why I am getting "HTTP 400 - Bad Request" errors when I try to access matchbook.com from both of my home computers? I have accessed the site, signed up and made a deposit from my office computer but cannot access it from home today.

Any help is much appreciated.

J Hoffa: Glad you found the Market Maker function. The idea is that if you think the fair price on a game is +100, then just enter +100 as your base value, state the vig you want (say, 2.5% or 5.0%), and Market Maker will create offers that appear on the screen as -106 by -106 (for approx. 2.5% vig), or -111 or -111 (for 5.0% vig).

Or say you wanted to make a two-way market at +150 at 4% vig. It might be hard to calculate what odds to post exactly. But with Market Maker, you enter +150, 4%, and presto: a market of -164 by +138 appears. It's just like being a bookmaker, with the ability to adjust your vig on the fly. The only hard part is deciding what you think the true odds should be.

There's a slightly more detailed explanation of Market Maker in the How to Play section called, "Improving Your Game". Let us know what you think.

Phigment: Our tech department suggests that you may have a firewall installed on your computer that is blocking the site from your home. Could you deactivate momentarily and see if that gets you through?

J Hoffa: Forgot to address your point on when we post up new markets. Basically, if a basketball total is bouncing around from 179.5 to 180.0 to 181.0, we wouldn't want to create three separate markets for each total. It would result in three scattered markets, and since our goal is to get as many people trading directly against each other as possible, we'd just leave the 179.5 total up.

But what if the total shot up to 185.0? The Over/Under 179.5 would probably be trading around -175/+175 at that point, so we would introduce a new market for 185.0 so people could bet at closer to even money. Both totals markets (the 179.5 and the 185.0) would remain on the board, though.

A big advantage of playing in the same market, by the way, is that you can bet one side, and then bet the other side at any time without tying up additional funds. There's a section on our home page called "Smart Balance" that describes this in more detail.
