Anthrax probe: FBI has e-mails from suspect; records show he borrowed freeze-dryer

This is our daily update on the investigation into Bruce Ivins, the government scientist who committed suicide last week after being identified as a suspect in the 2001 anthrax attacks that killed five people and injured 17 others:

• The FBI says it has e-mails that implicate Ivins, according to The Wall Street Journal. "They didn't provide details," the paper says.

• The New York Times reports that one of the envelopes used in the anthrax attacks was purchased at a post office where Ivins "had for years maintained a post office box under an assumed name that he used to obtain pornographic pictures of blindfolded women."

• The Associated Press says Ivins had a "decades-long obsession with the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority," but it's not really clear what that has to do with the allegations, other than the fact that there's a sorority chapter near the location where the anthrax-laced letters entered the mail system.

• The Washington Post reports that Ivins borrowed "freeze-drying equipment that allows scientists to quickly convert wet germ cultures into dry spores" around the time of the attacks. But an unidentified former colleague tells the paper Ivins "did at least one project for the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency that would have given him reason to use the drying equipment."

• Federal officials are expected to meet with the victims or their survivors this week in Washington, according to the Frederick News-Post and The (Baltimore) Sun. David Hose, a postal worker who contracted anthrax, says he doesn't believe that Ivins did it -- or that the FBI will be able to solve the case. "They just mumble and bumble around," he tells The Sun. "It's like a TV show."

GOLDMINE Buddy! Thank you very much!

And the "media leaks" from The CIA will continue. Because no one is "biting" on these, they just keep coming. A combo of information warfare and demonizing the character of Dr. Bruce Ivins. If they can convince Dr. Ivins was "The Devil himself", the public will believe the story. Remember the CIA is more loosely attached and cooperative with the DoD than The FBI, because in The 1940's they were called The OSS which was a "cell" in the military. In early history when it was The OSS, they were terribly amatuerish, like the FBI in this case. When they became the CIA, they became much better at what they now do. Because of this CLOSE affiliation with the military, many former military member end up becoming agents for the CIA. That is also how the CIA learned to perfect the art of information warfare. Communications are the key to ANY battle.

At least you and I see right through th bullshit.

So if they didn't whack the guy, then who is Dr. Zack? And if we forget about Dr. Bruce Ivins for a second, who mailed the anthrax letters? Ivins or The CIA?

I hope you answer The CIA. I have provided significant sources to back my case up.

Now the CNN article that linked to Time Magazine that was questioning the anthrax letters case has been pulled off the main page. How convenient. An attack that instilled fear in millions of Americans, a news agency questions the "suspect" who is now dead and they silence the report. Good ol Info Warfare. The CIA really doesn't want us to dig into this clearly.

Here is the Wikipedia page on Dr. Phillip Zack. I would imagine Bruce Ivins was just a nerdy scientist and not a CIA agent as well, because unlike Dr. Zack he has no military background, Ivins was just a civilain. Most military background guys become agent/scientist like that of Dr. Frank Olson.

Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phillip_Zack

Philip M. Zack, Lt. Col. (retired), Ph.D., DVM is an American microbiologist. 'Phil' Zack worked at USAMRIID in Fort Detrick through December 1991, then at the US Army's Walter Reed Institute, then for Eli Lilly, and then to a company in Colorado acquired by St. Louis' Nexstar Financial Management.
The Hartford Courant newspaper ran a series of articles in December 2001 and January 2002 which discussed Dr. Zack as a "person of interest" in the 2001 anthrax attacks in the US, his relationship with Dr. Marian K. Rippy, and their harassment of Dr. Ayaad Assaad at USAMRIID in 1991. [1] After Zack had been fired from Fort Detrick, a surveillance camera recorded him being let in at 8:40 p.m. on Jan. 23, 1992, apparently by Dr. Marian Rippy.[2] Salon magazine ran a story by Laura Rozen on January 26, 2002, which reported that Zack was among those: "eager to continue working on projects USAMRIID said they should stop. What followed, the documents reveal, were scientists sneaking into the Army biowarfare lab to work on pet projects after-hours and on weekends, former workers like Zack, who left in 1991, still being let in to do lab work, pressure applied to technicians to help out, documents going missing, and deliberate mislabeling of specimens among other efforts to hide unsanctioned lab work."[3]
According to the Zanesville Ohio Times Recorder, Dr. Zack was a member of the St. Nicholas Catholic Church when he lived in Ohio.[4] (Some websites mistakenly claim he is Jewish, citing his name as evidence.)

Realsed 50 Minutes ago...

The AP released an article titled, "Some answers, but not all, likely in anthrax case".

"But several holes in the case remain.

Some questions may be answered when documents related to the case are released, as soon as Wednesday. For others, the answers may be incomplete, even bizarre. Some may simply never be answered."

"No. 1 is, 'Did Bruce Ivins mail the anthrax that killed Robert Stevens?'" Schuler said, adding, "I've got healthy skepticism. It's good to be the skeptic. The bottom line is, we want to see this perpetrator brought to justice."

The "not all part" is that the CIA had involvement in the whole case. From mailing the letters to killing Dr. Bruce Ivins.

From the WSJ

Wall Street Journal report, "Bruce Ivins Wasn't the anthrax culprit"

Remember when I started this thread and no one in here believed me, they all threw my convictions out as bullshit. Now my story is starting to take wind. That is why I tell all to start reading from Post #1 all the way to the last page, before asking any questions or commenting in this thread.

From WSJ

Article on how The FBI and DOJ are arguing over releasing the evidence. The DOJ wants to keep a lid on it, The FBI wants to release what they have.

My suspicion is the FBI account of the case and their evidence will cause further suspicion to be raised, therefore causing more attention the case, which the CIA has probably made the DOJ aware of.

The FBI Agent that was pressured to blame Al Qaeda by The Whitehouse was Director Robert Mueller.

White House pushes FBI to blame Al Qaida

Immediately after the anthrax attacks, White House officials repeatedly pressured FBI Director Robert Mueller to prove that they were a second-wave assault by Al Qaeda. During the president's morning intelligence briefings, Mueller was "beaten up" for not producing proof that the killer spores were the handiwork of terrorist mastermind Osama Bin Laden, according to a former aide. "They really wanted to blame somebody in the Middle East," the retired senior FBI official stated. The FBI knew early on that the anthrax used was a weaponized version requiring sophisticated equipment and was unlikely to have been produced in some "cave." At the same time, both President Bush and Vice President Cheney in public statements speculated about the possibility of a link between the anthrax attacks and Al Qaida.[39]

How was "He" not rational? Did you know Dr. Bruce Ivins yourself? Or have you come to the conclusion that because the media reports it, it must be true?

Because it's posted in a thread in a gambling forum...it's not?

But yes I am going by EVERY report, even the ones that have raised some questions on the case. Even the people who support Ivins for the most part seem to think he was a bit off. And outside of this forum, I have NOT seen the suicide questioned.

"And now with reports that government scientist Bruce E. Ivins, who died last week in an apparent suicide..."

That doesn't seem to me like "slam dunk" it was a suicide. Does it sound like that to you? What does the word "apparent" mean to you?

If the news agencies released that it wasn't a suicide, I might need a heads up to dump some stock before they do that. It would be a bad day for America to have to swallow that.

This is it? This is your ENTIRE case? :ohno:

No one said "Iron Clad" evidence.

I'll say.

We are merely debating who would have more motive and means to do such a crime.

False. You are accusing the patriots at Langley of murder. These are outrageous allegations and deserve a heavy dose of outrageous evidence to back them up.

Mr. Scott, you and other Rx members can cook up whatever fantasies about me and shout them till the cows come home. I don't give a fat fuck.

But I will not sit here idly and allow you to smear some of the most patriotic, dedicated public servants in the entire country.

Obviously you didn't read post #110 where I mention these letters were sent from 3 separate locations.

Or perhaps I felt your wild conjecture wasn't worth a constructive response. That's another possibility.

Obviously Where is the work schedule time cards of Dr. Bruce Ivins for that time period? Where are the credit card receipts for gas or an airplane ticket to mail these out from those locations? Where is the evidence that proves he did does this? If he were to bored a plane during those times, how would he not infect himself or raise suspicion by airport security? So then he would have had to drive a car, right? So where is the proof he was in those locations, at that time?

Umm, still waiting for your earth-shattering E-V-I-D-E-N-C-E that proves the CIA killed Dr. Bruce Ivins.

Sir, this is the meat that you have been REPEATEDLY asked to cough up in this thread by a number of posters. I will remind the readers that you have utterly FAILED to live up to your OWN high standards.

The difference between a modern see-no-evil-hear-no-evil Chamberlain nut job like Ron Paul and a Conservative like me is quite simple:

Ron Paul gives the enemy the benefit of the doubt; I give my government the benefit of the doubt.

Capiche?

In order to dislodge me from my default position (in this case, ardent backer of the Bush administration, the military, the CIA, the FBI etc.) I need overwhelming evidence, not wild conjecture.

They have earned my faithful support -- you have not.

No one is talking "Iron Clad" evidence, because any and all evidence is being withheld from the general public.

Oh, this is priceless. I Michael Scott happened to have singlehandedly solved the mystery surrounding Dr. Bruce Ivin's death, but gosh darn it, the actual smoking I need to convict my government of murder...well...it's under lock and key until 2065.

:missingte:missingte:missingte:missingte:missingte

Jesus mother of Mary, and some folks wonder why my people call your people kooks?

I am raising the debate that he was murdered because The US Government has failed to convince me, and many others, that Dr. Bruce Ivins had any involvement whatsoever.

And I Joe C, your humble informant wish to remind you that these 'questions' that you and others are posing surrounding Dr Bruce Ivin's death reflect your OWN inherent sinister anti-war/anti-Bush/anti-CIA biases, i.e., the war in Iraq was wrong, the fact you support a kook like Ron Paul, that you allege the intelligence re the yellowcake in Niger was wrong etc.

You, Michael Scott, are LOWERING the debate spreading your conspiratorial hysteria without providing a shred of evidence -- not elevating it. You are doing your country and the men who swear to protect it a grave disservice.
You cannot base this argument on circumstantial evidence.

Funny, I always hear the same argument from those who believe bombs were planted in the WTC on 9/11.

Normally I don't pay attention to Ron Paul conspiracy wackos but given the attention this thread has attracted I feel the need to keep you on the straight and narrow.

This is a matter of national security.

Indeed it is.

5 innocent people died, millions were inconvenienced and scared. This was/is no laughing matter. And the "fall guy" is not a believable candidate to do this.

So I will ask you for the 5th time...

1) What is your evidence to back up your theories or allegations?

2) Who done it? Name the players who gave the order? How far up the Chain of Command are we talking? Are you suggesting President Bush or VP Dick Cheney or former CIA head George Tenant deliberately launched a terrorist attack against their own country. Is that what you are alleging, Michael?

3) What was their motive? Oh right, let me guess -- to launch an "illegal" war in the ME so their buds at Halliburton could make their billions. A war 'troofers' like yourself happen to be vehemently against -- BIG SURPRISE! :ohno:

The CIA, did it with the candlestick in the Living Room.

For my serious answer. The CIA did it (mailed the anthrax letters). Bush most likely knew about this, but it could have been conjured up at lower levels like Rove et al. Phillip Zack should be looked into, but the government will soon churn the wheels of propaganda to discredit that lead.

Dr. Ivins was "silenced" by the CIA. At best we can take your perceptions that he committed suicide. Then we can apply the question, so how did Dr. Ivins do this and whee is the physical evidence?

I already know your answer, you will rant and rave how this is all BS. Great, carry on soldier and continue with your search and destroy mentality.

Joe, to call a CIA agent a patriot and not say that a military veteran is one, in the same sentence is an insult to all those who serve(d). Some CIA agents are patriots. Some are not. And we are trying to get to the bottom of the ones who are not.

Err...it's pretty much always called an "apparent suicide" until the case is closed.

Just like OJ was a "Suspect"
