You'll like this one too Scott, even though I think you are a biased Miami homer a lot of times...

These guys need to stop hitting the vein so early on Sat mornings to think half those dudes are better than Marino. I'm not like the biggest Marino fan or anything but I haven't done heroin yet today (don't plan to either) so I can safely conclude Marino is 1 of the best of all time.

Did more with less for like 15 years...

Dissing Marino for not being able to get by Buffalo is like dissing LeBron for not being able to get the Cavs a title.

Lebron didn't play 15 years in Cleveland like Marino did.. I just can't get over how many times he threw the game away..then would blame everyone else.. Not saying he's not a HOF or a good player, just for me he should never have been labeled a superstar

I wasn't talking about Marino, just in general you often overhype Miami.

No I agree with you Marino 1 of the best QBs ever.

I also agree with anyone that saying comparing era's in NFL is practically impossible, especially when it comes to QB.
well ya maybe I over hype a little on Miami but that's kinda normal for fans to do. I said earlier in this thread that I think Jim Kelly was one of the great also and yes probably Brady will be when its all said and done.

Kudos to you being a Pats fan and acknowledging Marino! :toast:

It is funny to me Shula is considered 1 of the best coaches ever when he couldn't do shit with Marino for 15 years. Longevity the most overrated aspect of historical comparisons...

Never understood this about Shula. Always thought he was overrated the last 15 years.

so true. there has to be some kind of loyalty ownership had to him due to the super bowl wins in the 70's. Over rated for sure.

Longevity can make you seem a lot greater than you are. End of the day I say Shula overrated someone has the response of "most wins ever"

Same reason people think Karl Malone is top 20 all time when he played with another PG that is considered top 25 all time, yet they couldn't make the finals in the west until Magic, Dream, Drexler, Barkley all got old.

Same reason people think Karl Malone is top 20 all time when he played with another PG that is considered top 3 all time, yet they couldn't make the finals in the west until Magic, Dream, Drexler, Barkley all got old.

I went ahead and fixed this for you.

i think all HOF's are overrated, there are people in them that you may think don't belong, there are people not in that people think they should be,etc....the bottom line here is,different era's for different people, games have changed in all sports as time goes on,so really how can anyone decide on who belongs or who dosen't.people in todays sports would not make it back in the day, people back in the day would not make it in todays game, its crazy but its all how you look at it.

players get in for all different reasons,300 game winners they say are automatic, but some have never won a world series,....some have 3000 hits but never won a title or a world series, and some don't have 3000 hits but won batting titles and world series but get into the HOF.

it goes on and on in every sport,so this is really a contraversial question, its all about opinions, its who you like, its who comes thru in the clutch, etc,so its really a crap shoot when you look at it.

and Marino :ohno:

might as well take out the best WR :ohno:

I started the Marino arguments.. Never said he shouldn't be in the HOF, what I said I never thought he was a superstar player.. a little overrated IMO for a superstar

I'm conflicted on MAZ

I believe that a baseball player especially should be judged for how he did in his era FOR HIS POSITION.

back in Maz's era there were really almost zero offensively oriented 2nd basemen. Maz also had a very good glove.

but yeah I still don't think he gets in without that 1960 HR
