No doubt that offensive numbers have changed dramatically but Bradshaw was nothing more than the caretaker of an absolutely loaded team. Namath made it thanks to one bold prediction and doesn't belong; Swann is borderline.

I will admit I don't remember much about Miami's defensive teams..what I do remember is all of the picks in clutch situations..

It is my understanding that Tom Olividotti (sp) has been indicted for theft as Miami's D coordinator. he was stealing for a living. Miami didn't have bad defenses, they had horrendous defenses. Nothing like scoring 45 vs the Jets and Ken O'Brien and One-eyed Wesley Walker putting up 51 against you. Was the norm for Dolphins every time.

All I can do is think about my opinion and how I'd vote. A guy with a career QBR at 70 and threw for 3,000 yards only twice in 14 years? Those numbers are not HOF worthy IMO only.

terry has a hard time spelling but would say FVCK YOU :toast:

without even going into the old timers, I would put all of these QB's ahead of Marino, no particular order

Elway
Montana
Young
Favre
Brady
Manning
Manning
Bradhsaw
Starr
Akimon
Staubach
Kelly
Unitus
Rodgers
Warner

There's your 14 and am sure I could add guys like Fouts, Van Brocklin, couple of others

so all these guys are better then Brees? Lol

I doubt the HOF voters were concerned with Bradshaw's QB Rating

For basketball Joe Dumars pretty clearly. Was on 2 title teams so he got in, but I mean he was never a top 10 player in the NBA. How do you make the hall if you were never top 10 in the NBA? Seems like you gotta be top 10 at SOME point to make HOF no? Winning finals MVP in a sweep was big for him (who cares who wins MVP in a sweep?)

If someone like Billups makes the HOF because he won a ring/longevity then I think pretty similar case.

Are you guys that dense? QB stats were way different in previous eras, perhaps a greater discrepancy than any other sport.

lol this....

Dissing Swann/Bradshaw for their stats when they played in the equivalent of the NFLs dead ball era is absurd.

You'll like this one too Scott, even though I think you are a biased Miami homer a lot of times...

These guys need to stop hitting the vein so early on Sat mornings to think half those dudes are better than Marino. I'm not like the biggest Marino fan or anything but I haven't done heroin yet today (don't plan to either) so I can safely conclude Marino is 1 of the best of all time.

Did more with less for like 15 years...

Dissing Marino for not being able to get by Buffalo is like dissing LeBron for not being able to get the Cavs a title.

Am I a biased Miami homer really? Or am I just being truthful and it just happens to be my team? I think the answer would depend of whether or not I would still say Marino is one of the very best even if he played on New England, Buffalo, NYJ or any other team. My answer would be YES. So am I biased or did your mind just get blown?

having said that. I don't think there is any one QB that's the best. You are right, different eras come into play. Marino was amazing to watch. His quick release was amazing. He was the Wayne Gretzky of football for me. Saying Marino wasn't one of the best ever is just silly.

I wasn't talking about Marino, just in general you often overhype Miami.

No I agree with you Marino 1 of the best QBs ever.

I also agree with anyone that saying comparing era's in NFL is practically impossible, especially when it comes to QB.
