Sure I will get some haters here but PINK FLOYD!
So they had a few songs to do drugs to..so what??
The majority of the people I know, that claim to be pink floyd fans, can only name 4-5 songs by them.
So you can watch wizard of oz while watching "The wall" who cares??
I love music from that era and have hundreds of cds from that time but Pink Floyd is way overated IMO.

This is the only one named so far that I strongly disagree with. I like just about everything they've put out though.

hard to get anyone to agree here because of age. i would say bands that made a bunch of records but had a handful or less of decent songs on them would be considered overrated. maybe someone could post a list of the top 50 or 100 rated bands by rolling stone or some other source, then we could pick from the list. im too tired to do it now.

Would even be hard to take Rolling Stones Top 100 because it is mixed with Rock,Pop,Country,Rap, Etc.

If you are going to break it down, it would have to be by Categories..
Could take forever !

Agree with some of these, specifically Pink Floyd, the Beatles (good but def overrated) and the Doors. God the Doors are awful.

Another one is Radiohead IMO. Good but not great, as they are touted.

Radiohead is a GREAT choice. I like maybe one or two songs of theirs tops.

I think alot of times, bands get more credit than they deserve for being different and bringing a new style of music to the forefront, with many completely overlooking the fact that this new style really isn't that good. Being a pioneer gets you a pass kinda.

Van Halen? Is that the real VH? Or Van Hagar? Creed and Nickleback suck, how can they be overrated. However, I think the Foo Fighters are cool so to each their own. Love the White Stripes also.

Strongly disagree as well. There has never been another band like them. They are associated with drugs, wizard of oz, and the wall but they are much more than that. The instrumentals, the vocals, the lyrics, they were the total package

had it not been for cobains death theyd be another green day type band. good but not elite by any means the only reason they are regarded so highly today is because of his death ask someone on the street for 5 great nirvana songs they might come up with 3 if their lucky cuz to be honest theres really not more than that to begin with and not many people remember their music they just remember the drama that goes along with them

Really couldn't be more wrong using this logic. The average person couldn't name five Who songs, does that mean they are/were not great? Yes there was a lot of drama, but they changed music for 15 years. How many Grateful Dead songs can the average person name? They have the same influence Nirvana has.
