Thought I'd get this out there a week early as I have been hinting at my bowl GOY for the past few days. As for My GOYs I have done quite well in the past not losing one in the past 5 years. Last year was 2-0 alone.
This is a little different than a majority of my write-ups because I was asked to do a write-up for a small paper here in Tampa
Here it is:

BCS National Championship Bowl Game: Auburn Tigers vs. Oregon Ducks

January 10, 8:30 pm ET
University of Phoenix Stadium, Glendale, AZ

The SEC has been dominant in National Championship games since the advent of the BCS with the likes of LSU, Tennessee, Alabama and Florida bringing home the trophy. True champions have always been battle tested and Auburn has certainly had its fair share of close games.
Eight times Auburn has had to come from behind to win a game and each time Cameron Newton led the way. The Heisman Trophy winner and AP Player of the Year has had a brilliant season with both his legs and his arm doing the damage. He ran for 1,409 yards and rushed for 20 touchdowns, but also managed to throw 28 TDs and only 6 picks. Oregon has only faced one elite quarterback this year in Andrew Luck and the Stanford Cardinal and didn't fare well defensively. Luck managed to pass for 341 yards and two scores along with 40yds and a touchdown on the ground. With exceptional throwing and running ability I expect Auburn's Newton to have a field day and show America why he is the best player in the country.
The only suspect part of Auburn's game is their pass defense which ranked 105th in the nation. But, Oregon is a run first team with Heisman Trophy 3rd place finisher LaMichael James providing a huge portion of Oregon's offense. This plays perfectly into the hands of Auburn as their rush defense ranked 9th in the Nation shutting down last years Heisman trophy winner Mark Ingram in the process.

I expect a high scoring game which should translate well with the viewing audience. This will likely be in the top three most-watched BCS Title games of all-time and fans are anxiously waiting for Jan. 10 to arrive.

Game of the Year
Pick: Auburn -2.5

Sorry fellas. If there is one team out there that I am most familiar with, it is Auburn. The SEC played well in the Jan 1st games, and I think we will see in the next couple of days that the upper echelon of the conference was far superior to that of other conferences.

they beat the Big10. whoopie. not sure how michigan eeked into a Jan 1st bowl game when they stunk most of the year and were ready to fire their coach mid-season.

i would have thought the Stanford/VT game would have given you pause as to how good Oregon is to have stomped the Cardinal earlier this season.

but it is the SEC and you're most familiar with Auburn so I guess you're like to play on them rather than give another conference a fair look.

SEC tends to dominate CFB so going with them in a Jan 1st or later bowl game is a smart way to bet.
good luck

A lot more noise about Oregon now that Stanford won big last night. The line has even dropped a few pennies. With the ML at -130 I would rather play the ML. Love the pick.

I always give other conferences a fair shake. I am very familiar with the Pac-10 as I have a Father that played and coached for a Pac-10 school up until a couple years ago....Believe me I have watched my fair share of Pac-10 ball over the years, including many games this year.
You said it best that the SEC tends to dominate College Football. I for one believe it is just cyclical like riding out a hot sector in the stock market, but I have certainly not missed the bus while the SEC has dominated and I will continue to ride this bus until I am forced to get off...lol
Best of luck to you

Michigan squeaked into a game vs the #6 SEC seed. Mich is Big10 #7 seed.

All the Stanford/VT game shows you is why VT is 1-26 vs. Top5 Teams. Has nothing to do with strength of ACC or Pac10

Just my 2 Cents on what should be taken from those 2 bowl games you mentioned. No flame

As of right now, this is the toughest game to pick out of all the bowl games. Oregon hasnt won a championship game in forever & the SEC is not a good as everyone thought by the showing in the bowl games. I still havent decided on this one but good luck Stew.

Best of luck on the play. You know I will be on the Tigers for quite a bit of my stack as well. Are you going to the game? I can not go. My brother and dad will be there.

umm... I guess for people thinking the SEC would go undefeated in bowl games. Pretty sure everyone thought the SEC East was weak this year and they have shown it. The SEC West has held serve in every game and could go 5-0 as a division. I think you should have said "the big 10 is not as good as everyone thought..."

:toast:Love this pick Stew,Auburn rolls

Very dubious that Auburn will "roll" over Oregon. If anything, it will be a high scoring game. May even go to OT. Last team to score wins IMO.

I'm in PAC-10 country, and I've watched the Ducks play almost every week this season. I've never seen an offense like their's in all my years of watching NCAA football. Fast break football the whole game without giving the opposing D any chance to substitute. In order to grind the Ducks' O to a halt, the Tigers will need to stuff RB LeMichael James cold. Therein lies the key to Auburn's opportunity to win this game IMO.
Good luck Stew! :toast:
