Typical dumbass comment, talking about about a guy coming off a catastrophic injury
AD has 1 playoff win in the 2nd round his entire career. The team he is on right now is owned by a widow of the owner.
You put him on the Celts with those guys you just mentioned and Horford for a year (if he stays) and I think there is a very good chance that he would re-sign. Well worth the risk.
I really doubt playing with Kyrie Irving or not is some huge litmus test for whether he wants to be in Boston or not. But he may not want to be there otherwise, we'll see.
How would that work? I thought New Orleans wants the young talent in return for Davis?
You're getting AD for a year without giving up the young guys?
Nah, I meant to say Tatum or Brown would be in the deal...And Hayward or Smart would likely be in it as well because contracts have to come close to matching if a team is over the cap.
So your team is something like Rozier-Smart or Hayward-Brown (or Tatum if Brown is dealt instead)-Morris-Horford-Davis and potentially Kyrie Irving if he re-signs (he'd be kinda stupid not to if AD is on the team IMO, but then again he is kinda stupid)
But maybe Morris doesn't re-sign, maybe Horford opts out (he's gonna have a ton of suitors from teams like the Hawks/Kings/Nets IMO. Teams that can't get a tier 1 top flight FA but got $ to spend and he is a swiss army knife that fits into any team really well)...So it is all pretty fluid. If the Celts can't really surround AD with a good team right away then I don't think it is worth it, but if these other guys re-sign then I think it would be.
As far as signing and trading Kyrie, that actually doesn't really work anymore because of some CBA stuff. He'll either be re-signed or he won't most likely.
Also, to add more fluidity to the equation.....Maybe another team just beats the Celts offer. Maybe one of these teams that lands Zion in the lottery next week just deals the pick for AD.
Horford is a either a free agent this summer or can opt out. I forgot each one.
Why would any team take on Heyward's contract if he's not in the final year of it? You would really have to give a team an incentive in order to take on that contract
He can opt out this year and I'd be shocked if he didn't do so. Either re-sign with C's or another team probably get like 3/75 or 4/90ish. He just fits on so many teams and is so critical in helping develop young guys because of all he can do.
As far as Hayward's deal, it's not that big of a deal for the Pels since they're gonna suck the next 2 years anyway and no one is signing with them. They would be getting 1 of Brown/Tatum and 2-3 1st rounders in the deal. Celts have LAC/Memphis/Sacto and their own pick. Pels could insist on Smart/Tatum instead though...I dunno really, maybe the Knicks win the lotto in 5 days and offer Zion for AD, get KD and all these hypothetical scenarios become obsolete.
Just very fluid with a lot of variables.
I think Horford can make 31 mil if he opts in. He'd be a fool to leave. The celtics may want to see him go to free up the $$
Celtics have a bunch of young talent and trade chips. The only way they get rid of Heyward is to give up a few young studs and draft pics. I think AD is in play ONLY if AD wants to go there.
I'm a celtics hater and happy they lost. Just cant brag about it the pats, sox, and bruins are 1000000000x better than my teams at the moment!!
He's 33 next month, if he opts out of 1/30 for a 4/90 that is basically a 3/60 extension on his current deal. Why wouldn't he lock that up at his current age? He looks good still but you can go from sugar to shit fast once you start getting into your mid 30's so not much reason to play out another year on a 1 year deal from a purely financial perspective.
Celts might not wanna pay him that since they possibly can get other FA's down the line, but someone will pay definitely pay him that. Atleast a 3/70 which is a 2/40 extension for him. Lot of young teams with $ to burn.
As far as AD goes, if he just says no way I'm re-signing then they probably leave it alone since he isn't gonna come cheap. But if he's open to it and the other guys re-sign then that will definitely be their #1 priority.
I have a bett0r question. How does anyone who bets on sports over a long period of time remain a fan of any team?
I can't remember caring how any team has done for 30+ years.
I just threw up a little thinking a team is gonna offer 4/90 but there are a BUNCH of NBA teams that are stupid so u never know. I wonder if the celtics front office wants him to leave? I ask b/c Whiteside has an "opt in" clause down in Miami and i know management wants him to leave
It's a gambling thing. The first fissure is when you spot something negative about the team in your home city and you fade them and win. Eventually the entire connection breaks.
