Oh yea Romanowski, I totally agree. Remember that during the Cold War we actively supported a string of "friendly" dictators around the world and supressed democracy when it wanted to lean too far left. Very few around see what it takes to stay in power. Now movie premises like seen in John Q and Swordfish are considered noble. Killing one person for the good of a 1000 is seen as morally wrong. Bullshit, give me the gun and I will shoot the one person for the good of the whole myself. It is this democratic, individualistic attitude that both made our country so powerful and threatens us today.
Why must the US always be on top? We'll have to share power with others and not be able to just decide to go it alone anymore, but no big loss. As it is wars are becoming less and less of an issue. Warfare will be economic going forward and the US will always be in good position. As some fret about outsourcing, I'll take the view that it does our economy plenty of good. Yes we won't have the ability to manufacture like we used to, but once again our ability to go to war alone won't be at our disposal. Same with the food, unless we do something that really pisses the whole world off, what are they going to embargo our food? Come on. The world is closer than ever and many more countries will take their place at the "big" table. So what?
The Chinese achilles heel is the way they treat the environment. They must have some of the worse pollution in the world, and there is virtually no enviromental regulation, or aparently any interest in regulating it.

All the countries you mentioned have one great problem: their people are this close to turning all on each other...they are all a combinations of various ethnicities each feeling entitlement & psychotic resentment of the others.
This is not to say we don't experience some of that here-- it's almost human nature-- we just have it much, much less than all them mentioned.
No other big country is as united & pacifist as we are, liberal & conspiracist theories nonwithstanding.

Obviously australia is next in line. We're resource rich, and we're already taking over the world in hollywood and in sports.
China would the most obvious contender but in general I think we'll see a move towards being less nationalistic but more connected as a species. It started off with family, then the village, then the tribe, then race (not out of this one yet but improving), then the country so I think 'humankind' is the next step. It'll be a good day for nearly everyone when that happens.

If the US is destroyed at some point in the future it will come from within our borders. Ours is an open country with not only our borders but with our thought processes; something China does not allow. I would rule out China at this point. Free thinking people will allways be free. Maybe not 100% free, but as close as it gets!

Russia will regain some power and align with the Islamic countries to attack Israel in a great battle..
The EU is going to attempt to mediate in this situation..

I don't care about the line. I'll max bet that the EU never beats the US. Don't kid yourselves. The EU is a bunch of counties...half of which aren't that fond of each other. All of which have their own invidual leaders. Too many chiefs in the tribe. The EU could never join together to beat the US in anything, except maybe whining about politics and playing soccer.
