His wife ought to approach Hollywood on making a movie about her husband. Fictional of course but based on a true story on the fact he was a Navy Seal.

You do realize this entire Katrina story is based on hearsay right and not verifiable by anyone?

Who did he claim this to? From what I've read, some other SEAL was interviewed and he told a reporter Kyle told him this happened. Did Kyle claim this story (Katrina) in an actual interview? Not seeing it.

If you knew the jury was somewhat undecided why the hell would you agree to an 80% ruling? Their responses following the trial, “That was a strategic call that seemed appropriate at the time”, how the hell was that strategic when you had it won knowing they weren’t going to get 10-0?

I don’t know the facts of the case, but it is incredibly difficult to win a defamation suit, so I suspect the evidence is somewhat overwhelming. The publisher testimony that this section of the book was miniscule and not a hot topic of discussions during drafts and the book tour really blew up in their face. Ventura’s lawyers produced several internal communications, emails and memo’s obtained during discovery from Harper Collins suggesting the exact opposite, using phrases like, “push the Ventura story during the radio tour”, “this is priceless” and suggesting a positive effect on sales since the story broke and was in the headlines. Kyle’s lawyers knew they had these documents or were completely inept and failed to properly prep their witnesses.

Throw in all of Kyle’s witnesses being his friends versus Ventura’s witnesses being staff from the locale in question and discrepancies in Kyle’s taped deposition and comments on Fox and one other radio show and the evidence appears to have mounted. Still can’t even imagine how their lawyers agreed to back off the unanimous verdict, how foolish could they be?

I don’t know the facts of the case, but it is incredibly difficult to win a defamation suit, so I suspect the evidence is somewhat overwhelming. The publisher testimony that this section of the book was miniscule and not a hot topic of discussions during drafts and the book tour really blew up in their face. Ventura’s lawyers produced several internal communications, emails and memo’s obtained during discovery from Harper Collins suggesting the exact opposite, using phrases like, “push the Ventura story during the radio tour”, “this is priceless” and suggesting a positive effect on sales since the story broke and was in the headlines. Kyle’s lawyers knew they had these documents or were completely inept and failed to properly prep their witnesses.

You're right. It's like when the Prosecution asked OJ to try on the glove. Total incompetence. But I'm glad they did, because Jesse got justice, and would not have without the overconfidence of Kyle's lawyers.
