Chamberlain was fit enough in his mid-forties to humble a young Los Angeles Lakers rookie called Magic Johnson in practice, and even in the 1980s, he flirted with making a comeback in the NBA. In the 1980-81 NBA season, coach Larry Brown recalled that the 45-year old Chamberlain had received an offer by the Cleveland Cavaliers. When Chamberlain was 50, the New Jersey Nets had the same idea, and Chamberlain declined again. Chamberlain however participated in several marathons instead. He would stay an epitome of physical fitness for years to come, until his health rapidly worsened in 1999.

There was much talk of Wilt's comeback for a couple of years I think in the late 70's. Considering he was past his prime in the early 70's and Jabbar was dominating him, I question how good he would have been years later. It was a lot of TALK. Not impressed with heresay of a pick up game. Do not take anything away from WIlt but lets not go overboard here.

All in all, I still beleive that if Wilt showed up in the NBA today in his prime, he would be the dominate player. - twofingers44

So basically with that statement your saying if Chamberlin was playing at same time as Michael Jordan ( both in their primes ) ... That it would be Chamberlin not Michael with the 7 scoring Titles , the six championships , and the 5 Mvps ... ? Basically 'Dominate' the league ... Hence - The Dominate player .. The way Michael was ??

Or do you mean , he would dominate statisticly ? The way he did back in his day ... But not neccessarilly be a player who wins championships ( well maybe 1 ... ) ?

And if the Road Warrior says it, it must be true..

Hakeem was a much better center than Timmy is...this guy would school him all day long in his prime. Hell even Moses Malone was better than Timmy is. Not to take anything away from Timmy but he is probably is in the lower top 10...IMO

1. Bill Russel or Wilt Chamberlain

2. Wilt Chamberlain or Bill Russel

3. Kareerm Abdul Jabbar

4. Shaquille O'Neal

5-6. Hakeem Olajuwon and Moses Malone (tied)

7. George Mikan

8. David Robinson / Tim Duncan

9. Willis Reed

10. Dave Cowens

Bill Walton would rank in the Top 10 if not for the injuries. If Patrick Ewing had won but one title, he would be there too.

I know it is misleading but Duncan is really the PF and always has been - now he obviously can be a center too.

I think this sums up just how good Duncan really is:

Since coming into the league in the Spurs have the best winning percentage of any team in ANY SPORT.

I would only consider Wilt, Russell, and Kareem better.

Hak, Shaq and TD all are similar - while Shaq was truly unstoppable his reign was relatively short - he really only dominated from 2000 to 2002 - he was still great but during those years he was devastating - if SA wins this year or next Duncan's reign really extends a full decade.

Don't know about championships or MVP's but scoring titles, yes I would go with Wilt.
