there is NO clear #1. Saying so is just silly. So is saying that Marino shouldn't be mentioned as one of the greatest because he didn't win the super bowl.

Marino
Montana
Manning
Favre

John Elway dragged a lot of not so great teams to the Super Bowl.

John Elway had a better arm than Manning and was a much better athlete. I personally believe he sits higher than Manning on any all time list having watched both play in person more than once. Elway was better, IMO.

Marino will be in top 10 but not in top 5 conversation, imho.

Legacy wise, Brady still goes down as the greatest qb of this generation; not Peyton. Outside of a fluke pass catch by tyree and a drop pass by welker, Brady would have more.

New England cheated their way to their super bowls......had they not done that they may have won ZERO

Thinking about Favre.

1-1 SB's; 336 career INT's [In comparison Marino had 252; Elway 226; Montana 139] and 13-11 in playoffs.

Hard for me to say he is top 5 all time.

michael jordan shoved bryon russell away for a series winning shot. So by him cheating with an offensive push, does that take away his championship that year? give me a break. What you should look at is they still made 2 super bowls and continue years of dominance in the AFC AFTER the fact.

FYI, I am no pats fan. Big time BUCS fan.

You mistook what I meant by that statement directed at Sheep man.
Prove to me how it helped them? If it does, then why doesn't it help every other team that does it?

Point being, and I think you can agree with this. Video taping defensive signals or not, it had 0 effect on the outcome of any game. If the Pats didn't have the defense or QB they had during those years they ain't winning shit. This is not the opinion of some homer biased internet poster (me) but lots of professional football coaches and football minds nationally. Even Mangini regretted ratting on them.

you're simply blinded by hate, they came within two minutes of winning two more since your big exposure date

they lost one game in the closing seconds after the most fortuitous play in superb bowl history, the Tyree catch

since your supposedly exposure date, the Patriots have

1) the best record in football at 88-24
2) season win totals of 16, 11, 10, 14, 13, 12 and 12
3) the most appearances in the conference championship game, 4
4) tied for the most SB appearances

yet you argue that two last second losses in the SB proves they have to cheat

fucking priceless, meaning you couldn't be more wrong

He's still the greatest ever. Just because you win superbowls doesnt mean you are the greatest ever imo. So if Joe flacco wins 3 more rings.. Would he be the greatest? No. Or even if russel wilson won another 3 superbowls.. Would be the greatest? Superbowls dont define being the best. People fall in love with that. Peyton manning is hands down the best quarterback of all time, in his prime.

3 wins, all exactly by 3 points, then his team gets busted for cheating, and he hasn't won a SB now in a decade(including some of the biggest choke jobs in sports history). I don't think so. Apparently it's not so easy to win when you don't have the other team's plays like everybody else.

If "ifs" were fifths, we'd all be drunk. If my aunt had balls, she'd be my uncle, and if Brady threw a better pass to Welker, he wouldn't have to twist around to make the catch. And how about THIS "if?" If Belicheat had been caught cheating earlier, they might not have won ANY. Woudda, coudda, shoudda, is a waste of time.

Dig it, just like Payton had a mediocre post season and faced Rex Goodman(QB rating of SEVEN in the SB), Favre wasn't even the MVP the one SB he DID win, and, like Payton, has had some hideous and extremely poorly timed picks in post season.
