What's a fact? That people's jobs have been impacted once in 17 years? Yep, that's a fact. You're right and in that case, I'd never want a secure job, benefits and a great retirement.
Oh by the way, they're going to receive back pay for the time they aren't working. Did you know that? No you didn't. Who wouldn't want a paid vacation?
Sure you do have a lot of government insights. Many of fed employees has been through freeze pay for how long now? Three years maybe? If I can't get a raise of at least 5% every year, I already quit my job long time ago let alone having someone decide when I should work and when not. The fact is most of fed employees wouldn't be able to get a job in private sector because without government jobs, they're simply useless for anyone. But it does offend you a great deal to label them leeches.
Actually the actual pay freeze has been more like three years. Imagine if you are retired military and bring in around 4K a month and then imagine you are a GS-14 and have served in civil service for the last 10 years. Do you really care about freeze pay?
Look man, I know you're trying to sound really smart about civil service and that's cool and all but I've been a Federal employee for 14 years now and have worked with civilians for that same amount of time. They have a pretty good deal going on and are not complaining one bit. You can call them leeches or whatever but what it comes down to is they have a secure job, great benefits and a great retirement plan. Guys like you wish you had that kind of gig hence the reason you get jealous over their current job standing.

Actually Pats, If I could get out right now I would. I'm at the point where it would be pure lunacy to get out when retirement is just 6 short years away.
My issue with a guy like Snoop is he seems to think all civil servants are uneducated slackers. Sure, there are some of those just like there are uneducated lazy cooks and nurses etc. Typical civil servants are very educated with a ton of goals and for the most part, are patriotic and care about the greater good. I've worked around some good ones and bad ones.
