When something is off the table...like the ACA, and every proposal the house sends in some way looks to amend the ACA, then what the fuck do you expect the Senate to do?

This president was elected twice running on the platform of the ACA, then somehow the Republicans claim that the country doesn't want this? Get the fuck out of here. The republicans can't even agree within their own party what to do....their only goal is to see President Obama fail, at all cost, nothing more, nothing less.

I personally am really having trouble making it through my days without the federal government. It is no fun writing emails or talking on the phone without the NSA listening. Who will audit me and collect my taxes? Who will spy on me and harrass me for my political views? I don't know how I can go on like this. :((((((((((((

Obamacare is off the table why? Is that some kind of pronouncement that King Obama made?

It's happening tomorrow gents.

Most government civilians are going into work, receiving their furlough letters and then going home without pay.

Forest service, some TSA employees etc. The reach is astounding.

Remember how the fox news idiots and dumb repubs like you cried when the white house had to shut down tours a few months ago?? However, now, the entire govt shutdown and people losing paychecks because of it..."ah no big deal". And then you dumb fucks wonder why you keep losing elections.

Federal government employees are glorified welfare recipients anyway...... essentially they steal from productive Americans...... then they use the money they steal to harass and regulate the productive sectors out of existence. Unfortunately eventually there is no more money left to steal. ;)

That's a bit harsh few make 6 figures, $20-25 an hour is possible with low skills that would translate to more like $10-12 in the private sector....so they are overpaid in general but not hugely. How about cops making 100k + ?

Gov't jobs pay a living wage....it isn't Mcdonald's or Walmart

I'll remember this the next time I'm sitting in Afghanistan on a convoy or when I'm in your state helping put out a wildfire that your local first responders don't have the resources to put out themselves.

I did not say it in my post...... but I certainly don't think of military service members that way. They fulfill one of the few legitimate functions of the Federal Government and are most certainly under paid and under-appreciated for what they do. It would be difficult for them to paid enough for the level of sacrifice required by the job. That is totally different story from the army of overpaid useless bureaucrats leaching off of productive members of society of whom I was speaking.

Thanks for clarifying as I am a member of the Federal Government. There are a ton of DoD civilians out there as well that work their ass off in defense of our nation.

How about you give us a list of the "overpaid useless bureaucrats" that you speak of?

Even Obama, no genius, realizes Obamacare passed only because of kickbacks like the Louisiana Purchase, the Cornhusker Kickback & Gatorade is about as deplorable as anything ever forced on a democratic Republic. When Scott Brown campaigned as the 41st senator to defeat Obamacare & won in Massachusetts of all places the Democrats were for to overcome this by passing the pre-mature Senate version of the bill only. What a stupid way to govern and it was the first major law to be passed into law without bi-partison support.

Obama is the most un-equipped leader of any country of consequence in the last 100 years, there has to be some law eventually put on the books to prevent such an historical catastrophic administration from coming to the for again. His foreign policy really is as damaging to the country as his indulgence in domestic affairs. Their is just no upside to having Obama at the helm of this once powerful nation.

I don't much like BO but the Louisiana Purchase certainly wasn't his doing. I don't know a great deal about it but it was long before the man was even born.

Why was it a bad deal anyway ?

Here's a short list. The current President, Vice Presient and most of the Congress and Senate.

I'm no fan of politicians but most of them are lawyers and probably get no more money being governors , Congressman and the like than they might get in private practice.

The POTUS only earns like 400k....far less than a CEO of a big company. However some nice perks come with the job like a mansion and private jets and vacation propertiies and other more minor things like gourmet chefs and more.

You are also perhaps the most important man in the world while in office.

I'd rather be a more discreet guy making the big bucks of say 10 million a year, being famous has never been my goal, but I wouldn't mind being rich.

We could very easily start by eliminating the Federal Agencies whose only purpose is graft or writing useless regulations that benefit favored constituents.

Depts of:

Agriculture
Commerce
Education
EEOC
Energy
FCC
FTC
HHS
HUD
Interior
Labor
National Endowment for the Arts
National Endowment for Humanities
NLRB
SBA
Transportation

Then you could cut the waste out of agencies that perform some legitimate functions but are 90% committed to graft or writing useless regulations that benefit favored constituents.

DOJ
EPA
FDA
Homeland Security
IRS
SEC

I am sure I have missed some things....... but it is safe to say that 90% of the non defense budget of the Federal Government is wasted (it is actually worse as it is used to harass productive members of society and distort markets). Most regulations are written to benefit favored constituents of politicians. The whole Federal government is basically one huge graft machine which directly benefits only those with political connections.

You definetly need a law degree fom a big time college like Yale or Harvard to move up the ranks from like State senator or mayor to become maybe Governor. senator then vice president, president.

Ronald Reagan was an exception and a few got there via high ranks like General in the military, but a law degree is your best bet to a political career. . Almost all of these guys are lawyers except RR and going to a top school like Yale doesn't hurt.

I don't think you will see many military guys sniffing the presidency, that is old school . A law degree is your best path to a political future. Virtually all Governers, Mayors , Senators are attorneys

IRS isn't going anywhere, they sort of produce major income, some of the listed are vulnerable, but not the IRS or DMV....two agencies you don't to fuck with !

A park ranger sort is a lot moree xpendable to the government than an law enforecement sort like FBI,m CIA and such
