I think anyone who bets against Green bay every week will probably make money...Value in fading them again..6-10 vs spread and another rough season...it could get really ugly too.

OMG!!!

Time for you to leave this thread as you have lost all credibility with that statement.

If you think that were true, you must believe the PACKERS are the best team in football this year with all the great players they have returning from injury and the additions they made in the off-season via the draft and free agent market.

They had a very good defense last year, but they had virtually NO RECIEVERS.

Ridiculous comment from Clipper...he must have been snubbed by Brett once or twice, this is more than just an observation from him.

They had virtually no PASS BLOCKING either.

Good RUN BLOCKERS............but virtually NO PASS BLOCKERS and NO RECIEVERS.............which spells doom for ANY quarterback.

Add to this a terrible head coach.

We need to add some names, Marino, Staubach, Starr, Namath, Stabler, 2 newbies Brady and Manning. Its not only about stats.

Tough to compare eras in any sport, but football and the quarterback position especially as the passing game has changed so much in the league.

Favre is definitely one of the best of his era...one of the best all time as well. But I think guys like Namath (1st 4000 yard passer ever), Bart Starr, Johnny Unitas, Fran Tarkenton, and many more would be tough to compare because passing stats and supporting casts are so different these days.

Even in this era I think you would have to put Brady, Marino, Steve Young, even Peyton Manning have to be up near the top.

The QB debate will always be a fun one because everyone will have an opinion on what makes a great QB.

Marino never won, but he put up some of the most jaw dropping stats we will ever see.

Brady has been a champion but has been blessed with an amazing supporting cast both on offense AND defense.

Peyton Manning to this point is looking a lot like Marino...amazing stats but not much team success to show for it...at least not when it counts.

Steve Young I always hated...but his QB rating is pretty amazing...and he won the big won.

A lot of great quarterbacks through the years. It will be interesting to see if the game/position changes again as we are starting to see more athletic quarterbacks of the Vick mode getting some looks. Speed and athleticism in today's game is amazing. You have defensive ends running faster than the wide receivers in this game use to run...and they are about 100 pounds heavier.

Awesome game to watch...that's for sure.

Hands down I think most will agree if they had to give the ball to one QB for the big game it would be Montana.

I don't think they are Super Bowl bound by any means...they still have Favre at QB. I still believe they are good enough to win their division though just as they were last year.

Favre is the one that has said this is the most talented team he has ever been on...that wasn't me. :103631605

Not taking anything away from Joe...But, if Favre had Taylor, Rice, and Jones, and Roger Craig out of the backfield to throw to for all those years he just may have been better....Joe had amazing weapons all over the place...and they all came along together, Dwight Clark and Freddie Solomon too.

When you think of Favre's receivers he had Chmura TE who retired early, Sharpe who retired very early and a bunch of other players who were decent for a couple years, not exactly Rice and Taylor and Jones.

And you cannot compare stats in any way because of the rule changes Qb's in the 70s have not shot in comparison.

Think you will agree with the following.......

I believe the HOME OPENER against the BEARS will be a tell tale game for the PACKERS and FAVRE for the entire 2006 campaign ahead!!!!

If FAVRE plays poorly and the Packers lose, it will undoubtedly be a very, very long season for both.

FAVRE plays well and the PACK win, it could give both confidence for a the seasaon...........at least the first half of the season anyways.

This game will set the tone for virtually the entire season for both the PACK and FAVRE in my opinion.

Four years from now, or sooner, believe one will look back and see that the PACK had an outstanding draft in 2006

For beginners, AJ HAWK and ABDUL HODGE were stud linebackers in the BIG TEN for 3+ years..............and this kid JENNINGS at WR looks like a really solid player.

So pretty much what everyone is saying is once you are an accomplished athlete, you have been recognized and you stay past your prime, you suck. I ask this, how many of you won money at one point in time on him, and at some point, then you thought he was great. Alot of arm chair quarterbacks here and to be honest, it's easy to say someone sucks from the sideline, when most of us here could not throw a spiral 6 out of 10 times.

Favre gave away both games against the Bears last season.

Week 13: The Packers were driving for the lead near the end of the first half when Tillman intercepted a poorly thrown pass by Favre in the end zone and raced 95 yards before Tony Fisher saved a touchdown and knocked him out at the 7 with six seconds left in the half. Green Bay was up 7-6 at this point and would have been taking at least a 4 point lead into halftime even though a TD was much more likely giving them an 8-point lead.

The int gave the Bears a 25-yard field goal and a 9-7 halftime lead.

Anyone who watched this game knows just how bad he played. The stats don't even tell the story. I remember watching this game and being pissed as I had Green Bay moneyline. The Bears had no right winning this game or that division.

The Bears go on to win 19-7.

Week 16: Favre hands the Bears another win.

Favre had four more passes picked off Sunday, bringing his total to 28 for the season and surpassing his previous career high of 24 in 1993.

A potential game tying drive at the end was again stopped with a Favre INT.

"Anytime a quarterback gets four interceptions, you have to look at that," Sherman said.

Chicago beats Green Bay 24-17.

You guys forced me to search my post from last year about the games he gave away. They very easily could have (and should have) won the division last year:

Look at this schedule...that is pathetic:

Week 1: Favre turns the ball over 3 times while Detroit has 0 turnovers and and wins despite only 254 yards of offense.

Week 2: Favre has a solid game despite 2 more INTs and being outplayed by Trent Dilfer.

Week 3: Favre throws for only 195 yards and 3 picks. Pack had the ball at the 50 with under 6 minutes to go and only down 1...field goal wins it...Favre throws a pick.

Week 4: Favre had his best game of the season...definitely not his fault on this loss.

Week 7: Favre plays well in another loss.

Week 8: Favre throws 5...YES 5 INTS...in a 21-14 loss.

Week 9: Pittsburgh returns a Favre fumble 77 yards and a TD. His quote after the game:

"I thought our defense played outstanding," said Favre, whose streak of 27 straight home games with a touchdown pass came to an end. "We have to help them out."

Week 11: Favre throws ANOTHER pick for a TD in a 17-20 lost costing his team the game as a 6 point home favorite.

Week 12: Green Bay loses to Philadelphia despite the Eagles only throwing for 88 yards. Favre misfired on nine of his first 10 passes and finished 15-of-33 for 171 yards, one TD and two interceptions.

Week 13: The Packers (2-10) were driving for the lead near the end of the first half when Tillman intercepted a poorly thrown pass by Favre in the end zone and raced 95 yards before Tony Fisher saved a touchdown and knocked him out at the 7 with six seconds left in the half. Gould's third field goal, a 25-yarder, gave the Bears a 9-7 halftime lead.

Week 15:
Favre, meanwhile, struggled from the outset in his final appearance on ABC's "Monday Night Football" this season. The 15-year veteran has enjoyed many memorable moments on Monday night, but this was one he would prefer to forget.

Favre was 14-of-29 for 144 yards and two interceptions before being replaced by Aaron Rodgers late in the third quarter.

"I thought it was time to take him out of the game," Sherman said. "It was getting out of hand."

Favre's two interceptions gave him a career-high 24 for the season, and it marked the first time in his illustrious career that he has gone three straight starts without a touchdown pass. One of the interceptions was by Deion Sanders, the 53rd of his career.

Favre refused to talk to the media after the game.

Week 16: Favre hands the Bears another win.

Favre had four more passes picked off Sunday, bringing his total to 28 for the season and surpassing his previous career high of 24 in 1993.
"Anytime a quarterback gets four interceptions, you have to look at that," Sherman said.

Good research Clip..

When you look back at GB , they had so many games they just barely lost early in the season, they could have easily been 5-1 instead of 1-5 ...

Momentum is everything in sports , his supporting cast was awful, had they had all their players it really may have been all differnt....once it got to the point they were out of it Favre started making really poor decisions, you have to admit that his talent around him was not there?

And look at the leadng rusher stats, 3 games with a 100 yard back...and most games the back had 50 yards, that is impossible to win with that kind of running game...especially at his age, with no one to throw to.

Look back at the first Minnesota game and ther Carolina game, they put up a lot of points with no running game at all losing to Carolina 32-29 and the top rusher had 36 yards, I think that was the MNF game where they came all the way back to just barely lose.
