Why do you like Diaz? I probably won't bet that fight but just curious.
I do think there is a lot of value in novelty type fights as lines with 2 totally washed guys can be hard to make. Or 1 past prime and 1 totally washed.
I kind of view this through the lens of your last sentence, Diaz is clearly past his prime, but I’m not so sure he’s completely washed while Ferguson might be.
Ferguson did look good against Chandler before the KO, so maybe he isn’t. Also, I’m not in love with guys fading badly and changing weight classes late in their career as a last ditch effort to revive their careers, it just rarely seems to pan out. I don’t have any stats on that, but that’s my perception.
Lastly, I just think we may see one of the best versions, of late, from Diaz in what will likely be his last UFC fight. I have no evidence to support this, but that’s where my head is at.
Could be completely wrong, but once I saw Diaz as a dog I was in.
You think Holland has any chance? Chimaev should destroy him. Wrestle him, exploit Holland’s biggest weakness and enforce Chimaev’s biggest strength. Chimaev rolls with little resistance.
I’m beginning the question a bit about Chimaev, especially his fight IQ. I expect him to come out and bang with Holland, which is the only chance Holland has. Chimaev still probably wins that fight, but the odds shift dramatically. I thought I saw Holland KO like 10/1, which seems a bit inflated.
Throw in the weigh cut issues, supposedly questionable camp, reports Chimaev has been out partying this week, etc. Maybe some of that is bullshit, but seems like a few red flags surrounding him, his preparation and how he approaches fights.
