No opinion really on the winner but that is because Izzy has proven takedown defense in this division. We have no clue what Pereira will do against some solid grapplingIzzy -165 vs Pereira is the weirdest opening line I can recall in sometime, I get styles make fights but Pereira would be a dog to like 5-6 guys in this division that Izzy would be a prohibitive -300 fav over
welp, guess I'm gonna have to lose a lot of money on this
At those odds it could be a good bet but imo not happeningEdwards 9-1 decision is very live imo...Usman hasn't used his wrestling in years, his chin has gotten touched in 3 of his last 5 fights, Edwards TDD has come a long way last 5-6 years. Definitely think he is live to win a close decision. Not much of an Edwards fan, but stylistically I do think he can present challenges for Usman if the wrestling/clinch work gets neutralized.
Wrestling is 1 of the skillsets most likely to atrophy as time goes on and Usman has had knee problems for awhile.
I think Edwards is very capable of grinding out a 3-2 decision in they eyes of the fans/media, but actually getting that result from the judges might prove a bit less likely.Edwards 9-1 decision is very live imo...Usman hasn't used his wrestling in years, his chin has gotten touched in 3 of his last 5 fights, Edwards TDD has come a long way last 5-6 years. It’s difficult to look good against Edwards, but he typically doesn’t look great when he’s winning either, unless the caliber of opponent is a notch or two below.
Edwards seems to lac
k the aggression/game plan needed to dethrone Usman. He sits back way too often and tries to accumulate points, which is fine normally, but that approach won’t work against Usman, IMO.
I think he would need two dominant rounds and an otherwise close fight to take the belt via decision. If it’s close, even 3-2 Edwards in most eyes, they’ll give it to Usman.
I expect Usman to try and coast through this fight grabbing a comfortable 3-2, 4-1 type of decision that likely isn’t very entertaining, especially with them all but announcing he likely faces Chimaev for the belt in DEC/JAN/FEB assuming both win, which they should, and avoid injury.
