Islam won but not by much. It wasn't just the takedowns he got some good striking on Volk and Volk didn't do a ton of damage to Islam either. Maybe a slight edge in strikining for Volk and a slight edge in control and grappling for Islam
Would be an interesting rematch
Volk seemed to gain more late in the fight than Islam
I think you would see more takedown attempts similar to the one in the middle of the octagon GSP style as Volk came in to hit Islam
Key really was Volk not being able to use kicks to bridge the reach gap Islam had because of fear of takedowns. Against most guys he can use that well but the inside leg kicks seemed to be there when he did use them

Blanchfield is the real deal and will be a future champ IMO. I played her earlier in the week at +150, but that’s long gone, so didn’t post it here. Andrade is tough as nails and could simply beat Blanchfield on the feet, but Blanchfield’s got a real slick sub game and Andrade has struggled with some elite grapplers, especially off her back.
I played the sub prop for Blanchfield just for a half unit and will just ride my +150 ticket, value on Blanchfield is gone at +105/+110 IMO. I do like her as a DFS play.
I really like Emmers as a dog, Askhabov is like 23-0 or something, but he hasn’t fought anyone. Emmers is tough and should have a striking, power and experience advantage. I thought he may have won his fight with Giga, that he lost by split, and that performance has aged well. Biggest concern here is Emmers fight IQ is severely lacking, he’ll look great and then do something stupid and lose or let the fight momentum shift to his opponent. Maybe I’m underestimating the Russian, but I think Emmers is very live.
Old man Miller is worth a look, Hernandez is Rd1 or bust, he’ll look incredible in Rd1 and if doesn’t get the finish he will gas badly and likely get subbed in Rd2 or Rd3. Hernandez seems to look worse every time I see him now, maybe he can get Miller out of there early, but I’ll take the battle tested crafty vet to survive and get the later W.
