I just don't see the "big" lawsuit everyone is envisioning. Yeah, she'll sue and get a settlement but it will be relatively small. She still has to prove damages. Didn't someone post that she left the hospital the next day? I'd think her medical expenses were fairly low if she did indeed get released the very next day. Makes me think pretty much all the bills would just be for diagnostic tests to confirm she was ok to be released.
Bottom line: if she just had 30k in medical bills and is fine now, her settlement will be pretty weak.
Without being able to know the longterm effects or at least
potential effects of a blow to the head such as this but with ample evidence suggesting possible negative longterm effects (
concussion knowledge growing) with a skilled lawyer she prolly has a better case than it seems to you.
Yes, I agree that its on the surface at least much ado about "nothing" now that she appears to be OK but legally speaking....?
Its still my sense that the contract on the back of the ticket protects the team but obviously they should, just because it'd be the most intelligent approach from an "avoiding negative PR" perspective, cover her medical expenses and give her a bit more $$$ for pain and suffering. A wise investment when compared to all The Hell they'd catch from the Internet Warrior crowd if they try to weasel out here.
