combined WHIP

Been out of town for a week visiting the folks so please forgive me if this was explained while I was away.

I'm not sure I'm understanding the combined WHIP pivot table in the master. Is "combined pitcher whip" exactly what it sounds like? So for the year there was only one time that the combined whip was 3 or lower? Seems like almost every game today has a combined whip of 3 or lower so that can't be right.

showing contrary info on your Detroit wind. I'm seeing IN from LF at 8... No Pudge or Maggs for the Tigers, either... I took a stab at KC/O regardless... Meche better in teh daytime over his career and Bondy really struggled in day games last year... (two decent ones in 07)...

Took oak u also - also went with tb u 4 1st 5
bal/tam - everything pointed to over - but bedard/kazmir seem to be in good from.

also looking at minn/sea un 7.5 - nothing needs to be said about f. hernandez - the spreadsheet shows silva with a miserable era/whip. Thats last years - silva looks solid so far this year

nick, are you talking about the whip pivots in the latest version of the spreadsheet, those were just change to the new combined format last night, vs having 40 plus different catagories. not sure i understand the question. take another shot

Under the whips and salary tab, what does the numbers 4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12, 13 stand for in the sum of salary box? is it how many millions the pitchers make?

probabaly another dumb question, but is there any way to print out the Pops summary and wa-nps{what does that stand for} report, so that it looks the same way you look at it in the spreadsheet? There are so many columns across, you cant see everything at once.

How do i get the master pivot table field list to show itself on the side? I closed it some how and i cant figure out how to get it to pop up again

housekeeping

geppi has sent all the updates out, the 2nd email is the master that you should use, it has the updated pivot tables etc, but the 1st one has the pdws which you prob all d/l off the site already

game of a series. i'm not a strong believer of taking the summary down to the game of a series level. the way i use the game of a series is to go into the OUbyLine tab and look at the pivot table with 4 thru 16 on all, than filter the row 10 series GM # thru all the series game numbers and see if the overall trend is ov's or unders on those games, same with day/night as well

Seems this Mississippi State education I have is hampering my comprehension and application of the hard work being done. Here are some examples:

1. I don't really understand the relationships between the PDWS, the MLB Master, and the summaries.

2. All I know about the pivot tables is that they allow you to ask an infinite number of "what if's." Don't understand the mechanics.

3. I notice the temp and humidity columns are blank. Are we supposed to locate this data and input it, or is that input for us closer to game time?

Also, are you automatically playing the under on outdoor games where the humidity is between 50-65?

I fully expect to get a tirade of "WTF's?", but you asked for questions and I'll be the dummy who asks out loud what half of us are wondering. Thanks for all you do.

P.S. Did you ever get a chance to see if any natives around there remember Sammy Tannenbaum, aka "Philadelphia Sammy?" I'm curious to know what they think of his handicapping methods.
