Report: 2 teachers face charges for alleged threesome with teen student

KENNER, La. – Two teachers are facing felony charges after the two of them allegedly had sex simultaneously with a then-16-year-old student who has been a student in both women’s classrooms.


FOX 13 News sister station WGNO reports 32-year-old Shelley Dufresne and 24-year-old Rachel Respess, both of whom are English teachers at Destrehan High School, face felony charges relating to the alleged sexual misconduct.


Kenner Police Chief Michael Glaser tells WGNO the two teachers met with the student on September 12 and drove to Respess’ apartment, where the three engaged in sexual acts that lasted until the early morning hours of September 13.


“You have an educator, I guess, the responsibility is the safety and education of the children and when it goes outside those lines I believe the community should be outraged,” Glaser told WGNO.


The student is now 17 but was 16 at the time of the incident, and WGNO reports that fellow students allege the student and the two teachers have been involved for some time and had even recorded some of the sexual encounters.


Glasner tells WGNO the student has been in the classroom of both women.


“This Rachel Respess was an English teacher of the victim last school year, so she did have some type of contact and knew him. Shelley Dufresne is his current teacher,” he said.

<!-- Entry Text --> A former basketball coach and gym teacher at a prestigious New York City high school faces statutory rape charges for her alleged sex abuse of a male student.
Megan Mahoney, 24, was arrested Monday for allegedly having regular sexual contact with the same 16-year-old student over a period of more than two months beginning in late October 2013, the Staten Island Advance reports.
She faces 30 counts of statutory rape in the case. The New York Post reports:

Mahoney romped with the teen “on numerous occasions, that is at least two times per week during the period,” court papers claim.
She also was charged with four counts of “criminal sexual act” because of mutual oral sex that she and the boy allegedly engaged in “at least two times per month during said period.”

In January, Mahoney resigned from Moore Catholic High School in Staten Island, where she taught gym and was an assistant coach for the women's basketball team.
Investigators said at some of the encounters happened on school grounds. In August, the victim told the New York Post that the illicit relationship began shortly after Mahoney allegedly approached him in the gym and offered to coach him in basketball.
“We would just drive around and [do it] in the car,” the boy, whose name was withheld, told the newspaper.
Richard Postiglione, the Moore's athletic director, was also investigated for allegedly failing to report sex abuse accusations against Mahoney and another female teacher at the school.
Before she was a coach, Mahoney was also a student athlete, playing basketball for Fordham University and Wagner College.

Teacher Invited 2 Students to Her Home for Sex: Cops

A substitute teacher was arrested last week after police say she had sexual encounters with students she invited to her Georgia home.
While Cherokee County Sheriff's Office officials said the students were at the age of consent for the state, it was 38-year-old Laura Rich's position of authority that makes her alleged deeds a crime.

Rich is accused of starting a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old shortly after she began substitute teaching in early 2015, Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Jay Baker said.
Rich is accused of having sex with an 18-year-old months later.
The Cherokee County School District notified police about the allegations.
"Our detectives conducted an investigation and determined that Rich had sex with a 16-year-old student in early 2015 and then had sex with an 18-year-old student in late 2015. The encounters occurred at her former home in Acworth," Baker said in a statement.
In a statement, the school district said Rich's last day as a substitute was August 19.

"Our School District has zero tolerance for inappropriate relationships between students and any adults serving in any capacity in our schools," a spokesperson told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Rich was charged Friday with two counts of sexual assault by a teacher. She was released on a $22,400 bond that same day.

Police arrested a substitute teacher Tuesday after she reportedly exposed herself to an entire high school class.
Pawhuska Police Chief Scott Laird released a statement Tuesday evening saying the teacher exposed herself while doing a cartwheel in front of a choir class.

Lacey Sponsler, 34, who was at the Pawhuska High School in Oklahoma, was wearing a long dress when she decided to show off her skills, but didn’t have any knickers on.

A police report said: “The victim said while in Africa his relationship with Ms. Wey become more personal and on a deeper level.

Their two-month affair continued until he heard Wey had gone on a hike with another pupil.
In one message to the second boy she said she could bring a hammock along for the walk.
Wey later told him to get rid of online conversations between them because she feared they were fuelling rumours about their fling.
She texted him: “Delete our convo (sic) from Instagram please and don’t let anyone get a hold of ur (sic) phone.”
The first boy then told his parents about his relationship with Wey and they called the cops.
The second student told investigators they had “sexual contact” after Wey took out the hammock when they were on a secluded trail.
He told detectives he expected to have sex with her on the hike, adding: “A teacher just doesn’t hang out with a student to hang out.”

Her lawyer Larry Sauer said at the time: “I think because she’s an attractive young woman, that it’s

District Judge David Wahlberg will sentence her on March 10 after an investigation into probation conditions.
She will not have to register as a sex offender, prosecutor Geoffrey Puryear told MyStatesman.com.

"You've got a young lady who was arrested on the statement of a 17-year-old kid with no corroborating evidence. This isn't a guilty person sitting there like they just got caught," Nassour told the TV station. "When everything's fleshed out it won't be as it appears."
The Lockhart High School student often met Fowlkes in person and communicated through messages, police said, adding that they "engaged in sexual contact."
School officials learned about Fowlkes' alleged relationship with the teen through a report on March 10.

The Lockhart Independent School District immediately alerted the police, which launched an investigation and contacted Child Protective Services.

The district suspended Fowlkes following the allegations. The science teacher has been employed with the district since Oct. 2014, the district said.
“I have very high expectations of myself as a teacher as well as of my students, and I hope that this will be a formula for achievement,” Fowlkes once said, according the district’s website.
