A former substitute teacher in southwestern Missouri was arrested Sunday and charged in connection with alleged sexual contact with one of her students.
Loryn Barclay, 24, faces charges in two counties as a result of the alleged relationship with the 17-year-old boy while she worked as a substitute teacher at Monett High School.
According to court documents, Monett City Police Officer Jay Jastal, who works at the high school, was tipped off about the relationship in April. The officer said the student confirmed the relationship with Barclay on May 3. The following day, Barclay admitted having "an inappropriate relationship" with the boy.
According to the affidavit, Barclay said she performed oral sex on the boy in a car at a park located in Lawrence County, Mo. She also admitted she had intercourse with the teen at the boy's home in neighboring Barry County.
The Monett Times reported that Barclay was hired as a substitute teacher this fall and was promoted to a paraprofessional in November. She became a teacher assistant in January and was removed April 27, the day the relationship was first reported to police.
"When we became aware of potential involvement with a student, we followed all procedures" Monett Superintendent Brad Hanson told the paper. "We had a conversation with her and she was not employed from then on ... We dealt with it swiftly ... and now, we'll let the legal side do it's work."
Barclay was released after posting $25,000 bond in Lawrence County, where her next appearance is set for July 24. Her bond is set at $10,000 in Barry County, where she has yet to appear.

A Michigan mother pleaded guilty Monday to having sex with two teenage boys, local media reported.
Brooke Lajiness, 38, admitted during a pretrial hearing to having intercourse and oral sex with the minors, a 14-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy, MLive.com reported.

</section>Prosecutors said the Lima Township mother started an affair with the 14-year-old boy in the summer of 2016 after he graduated from middle school but before he started high school, FOX 2 Detroit reported.
The majority of the incidents were alleged to have happened in the back of Lajiness' car in a Lima Township driveway, Michigan State Police Trooper Donald Pasternak testified in court.

PORT RICHEY (FOX 13) - A Hillsborough County woman is in jail for allegedly having sex with an 11-year-old. That encounter, investigators say, resulted in a child.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office says in January 2014, Marissa A. Mowry, 22-years-old at the time, had sex with an 11-year-old boy. Investigators say that encounter resulted in a child, born October of that same year.
Investigators say the sexual relationship between Mowry and the victim continued until he was 14 years old.

A 44-year-old Texas woman was arrested last week after she admitted to having sex with her daughter's teenage boyfriend, according to court records.
Claudia Yaneth Lopez of Pharr was charged with sexual assault of a child after she confessed, KGBT reported.
Police said an investigation began after they were contacted in August by a woman who said she found a suggestive text message on her son's phone and thought he had sex with Lopez.

The boy was younger than 17 at the time, according to court records obtained by the television station.
During an interview in September, the teen told police he had sex with the Lopez.
Public records don't show any previous criminal history for Lopez, who faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted of the second-degree felony, the Dallas Morning News reported.

An arrest warrant obtained by PEOPLE confirms the allegations against Whitney Laidlaw, a married middle school dance teacher.
Laidlaw, who lives in Houston, teaches hip-hop dancing at the Cornerstone Academy in Houston, states the warrant. Laidlaw was placed on leave after officials at the Spring Branch Independent School District learned of her arrest.
The warrant alleges that the inappropriate relationship began at the end of the school year and carried on throughout the summer. The alleged victim was one of Laidlaw’s students, the warrant explains.
Laidlaw, according to the warrant, exchanged numbers with the 14-year-old alleged victim, and told her in a text “she had feelings” for the girl.
Investigators allege Laidlaw started arranging meetups with the teen which quickly became physical. The warrant indicates Laidlaw allegedly kissed, fondled, and performed oral sex on the alleged victim.

Police further allege Laidlaw sent the teen a number of illicit photos of herself.
None of the alleged encounters occurred on school property. Instead, they allegedly took place inside the girl’s home after her mother left for work or inside Laidlaw’s car.
“We are outraged by this alleged conduct,” reads a statement from the Spring Branch Independent School District. “The safety of every SBISD student is our very highest priority, and having a strong moral compass is a key district core value.”
The parents of the alleged victim notified police only recently, after finding the explicit texts and photographs.
Laidlaw has been charged with sexual assault of a child and improper relationship with a student. She is due in court Friday to enter pleas to the two counts.
