MRT 19-1 ATS
LST 16W
CST 3W
What does MRT,LST, CST mean...help this dummy out please.

MRT= Most Recent Trend (I try to have at least a double-digit sample size on the MRT, in this case it was the whole situational since it has a smaller sample size)

LST= Longest Win Streak of the Situational

CST= Current Win or Loss Streak of the Situational

Niext in this thread I will be previewing the New Mexico LOBOS, a team that I am highly and very familiar with that is more of a basketball school (they were a high #3 seed in the NCAA Tournament in 2010)

I was 1-0 ATS in New Mexico games last year (I had them as an Underdog against New Mexico State, they should have won SU, but found a way to lose although they did cover for me), that was the only time I played them ATS last year in part because
New Mexico State sucks too)

after that......I will be previewing the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets who are in my hometown and who I have lots of connections with

It will probably be better just to preview the Mountain West Conference and as far as the ACC I'll defer to RX Poster Jimmyshivers who will most likely have an ACC Preview that is a good read,

SEC gets plenty of RX pub and info so there is no need to preview the SEC which has its title game here in the A-T-L )

Mountain West Preview Part I

Lots of changes in the Mountain West. BYU has left and Utah has gone to the Pac-12. Meanwhile, Boise State joins the conference after arriving from the WAC conference. Currently, there are 8 teams in the conference, but that will change next year with some more additions of three more WAC Teams although TCU will go to the Big East next year. Newcomer Boise State has to be the projected winner here and they even get Air Force and TCU on the SmurfTurf.
They do play AT San Diego State, but the Aztecs are replacing their coach who took the job as the head man at Michigan.

Conference Games to Note...

September 3rd New Mexico vs Colorado State-----The Lobos start the season with 5 Home Games. However, after this game they have to play Arkansas and Texas Tech. They got destroyed by Colorado State last year 38-14. This is Locksley's third year and this overly optimistic writer here says this is a huge game for New Mexico, especially with those two non-conference games on deck. After that, they have winnable games against Sam Houston State and rival New Mexico State both in Albuquerque. Last year New Mexico lost their season opener 72-0 to Oregon and never recovered. A competitive showing here or even a big upset would give them some confidence. Another blowout to start the season could damage their psyche (it recovered slightly from last year since they haven't played a game in a long time) and have themselves saying "Here We Go Again"

September 10th TCU at Air Force---------------this game here could very well determine who gets 2nd Place in the Mountain West this year since both teams visit the SMURF TURF in Boise. TCU should be solid, but this game is early in the season and they are replacing good players on both sides along with QB Andy Dalton while going on the ROAD.

September 17th Colorado State vs Coloardo------------The Rams will be looking for some Revenge here against their In-State rival. Last year they lost 24-3, but in their defense they were starting a True Freshman QB named Pete Thomas who was playing in his 1st ever college game. He is now alot more experienced (completed nearly 66% last year) while returning starters on the O-Line. It should be noted that Colorado State is 13-6 ATS as an Underdog in this series, including 9-3 ATS as the Underdog in this series since 1996. As you know, I always look more closely at the dogs in rivalry games and this one will be no exception. Way too early to tell what I'll play that week, but obviously there are several other factors I consider before making any play ATS.

September 24th San Diego State AT Michigan-----------------This has to be one of the most intriguing matchups of the week on a national scale. Why? Michigan's new head guy Brady Hoke was at San Diego State last year along with
offensive guru Al Borges. Rocky Long is now the guy at San Diego State (former New Mexico Head Coach) and his defense used to practice against this offense all the time last year. On the flip side, maybe Brady knows Long's defense inside-and-out while having the better athletes. Maybe San Diego State players want to "stick it" to their former coach for leaving. A very intriguing game I must say in the Big House.
I seriously doubt that I will lay points here. Doesn't mean I will take them either, but I seriously doubt laying them.

Mountain West Circled Games

These are games that I perceive teams will have CIRCLED going into the season and will be highly motivated and I will most likely NOT be playing against them in this spot, doesn't mean I will be on them, but I seriously doubt I will be against them

Boise State Circled Games

September 3rd vs. Georgia (at Atlanta)---This is Boise's yearly Super Bowl game and due to their previous success and experience in this situation , I will NOT be against them. Will likely pass on this game.

October 1st vs Nevada------------------Boise's revenge game against Nevada who ruined their season last year. The line might be inflated due to the revenge factor and Smurfurf, but I seriously doubt I will be against them here.

November 12th vs TCU-----------------Boise has a little mini-rivalry here with TCU due to both being BCS Busters and playing each other in bowl games the last few years. This matchup should determine Mountain West supremacy while Boise gets them on SmurfTurf.

New Mexico Circled Games

September 3rd vs Colorado State------- They have two tough Non-Conference games on deck (Arkansas and Texas Tech) so they need a big effort here to start 2011 alot better than 2010 where they lost 72-0 and never recovered. They have an opening home conference game with revenge to start the season here against Colorado State in Locksley's 3rd year at New Mexico. As bad as New Mexico has been it will be tough to fade them in this spot.

October 1st vs New Mexico State--------The Lobos play with Double-Revenge in the battle of I-25 with Locksley looking for his first win over his in-state rival. It should be noted that the Lobos are 24-7 SU (home and away) and 13-2 SU against New Mexico State when playing at Home since 1980 despite Locksley losing in Albuquerque during his first year.

November 12th vs UNLV--------------This is the Lobos Final Home Game and they play with Revenge and after that they have two Road games to close the season. This battle could possibly be for who finishes in the cellar in the Mountain West so expect the Lobos to be ready for Senior Day.

San Diego State Circled Games

September 24th AT Michigan---------------This is the chance for San Diego State players to "stick it" to their coach from last year who left them for Michigan. An intriguing matchup.

October 8th vs TCU-----------------------San Diego State only lost by 5 AT TCU last year who went on to finish undefeated. Now they come into this game off a bye and with Revenge while getting them at Home and not having to face Dalton.

Wyoming Circled Games

October 15th vs UNLV-----------------Wyoming's Conference Opener here at Home and they play with Revenge after getting blown out as Road Chalk last year.

November 19th vs New Mexico----------This is Wyoming's Final Home Game as they have 2 Road Games after that. New Mexico's only win last year was against Wyoming and I'm sure the players are tired of hearing that.

TCU Circled Games

Their big game is at Boise, but since its on the SmurfTurf I doubt I will be on them. Doesn't mean I ike Boise, but I doubt I'll be on TCU.

Air Force Circled Games

September 10th vs TCU-----------Air Force looked kind of small compared to GTECH in their bowl game, but found a way to win it due to Tech miscues. Here they get TCU early in the season who is replacing their QB and some players on both sides of the ball. It should be noted that TCU only won by 3 Points the last time they were at Air Force two years ago.

October 1st AT Navy---------------Despite winning last year for the 1st time in the last 8 tries against Navy, Air Force hasn't covered against Navy since 2002 (played them every year since then) although there was 1 push in there.

October 8th AT Notre Dame-------They are playing AT Notre Dame. The brand name itself is enough motivation for someone like Air Force.

UNLV Circled Games

They scored 40+ Points in their two conferece blowout wins against the bottom-feeders of the MWC. Other games the defense looked like the worse in football. No Opinion on circled games for UNLV. I'll take a wait-and-see approach.

Colorado State Circled Games

Colorado State has 3 Rivals believe it or not. They lost by double-digits to all of them last year, including a shocking 44-0 loss to Wyoming in the Bronze Boot/Border War Rivalry. This year they get Air Force and Wyoming at Home and play Colorado in Denver (not Boulder).

They are 9-3 ATS as a Dog against Colorado since 1996. They have won 5 out of the last 6 SU against Wyoming when playing at Home, lost the last one by 1 point two years ago so they are playing with Double-Revenge.
They have lost 5 Straight to Air Force although they did cover the big number last year.

September 17th vs Colorado (at Denver)

November 26th vs Air Force

December 3rd vs Wyoming

That concludes my list of Circled Games for each team in the Mountain West. As said before, I doubt I will be against any of these teams Circled Games that week in that spot, but that
DOES NOT mean I will be on them either. Best of luck.

Now after my previous Mountain West info..................time for my projected order of finish in the Mountain West which is just a projected guess like many other gurus out there, I'm sure many will put my LOBOS last, but I won't (they just need more discipline, development, and better coaching, Locksley was known as a great recruiter before coming to New Mexico and the talent level is a little better than their record IMO)

MY PROJECTED TEAM TO FINISH 8TH OR DEAD LAST IN THE MOUNTAIN WEST= UNLV

Why? I'm fully aware that UNLV blew out two bottom-feeders last year, but now they go on the road to those two places this year. While their offense has its moments, the defense is horrific. I actually project New Mexico to suprass them in defense this year.

MY PROJECTED TEAM TO FINISH 6TH in the MOUNTAIN WEST= NEW MEXICO

The Lobos have averaged 1 win per season the last 2 years. They should be able to improve on that number you would think. They open up with 5 Straight Home Games and get UNLV in their Final Home Game.
Sam Houston State and New Mexico State are two games that are winnable for them in non-conference play. They have a new defensive guru who runs a 4-5-2 scheme. With Coach Locksley running the offense, this team should be able to improve here in Locksley's 3rd Year. Yes, I'm putting New Mexico 6th (biased or not LOL)

MY PROJECTED TEAM TO WIN THE MOUNTAIN WEST = BOISE STATE

Boise gets TCU and Air Force at Home which only helps their cause. Talent on both sides of the ball and QB Kellen Moore returning makes them the favorite to win the conference despite their 1st year in the Mountain West.

FULL PROJECTED ORDER OF FINISH

1ST ----------------BOISE STATE

2ND----------------TCU

3RD----------------AIR FORCE

4TH---------------SAN DIEGO STATE

5TH--------------COLORADO STATE

6TH--------------NEW MEXICO (showing my bias and giving them the benefit of the doubt LOL, but in all honesty once you get near the bottom of the Mountain West there isn't much distinction IMO)

7TH-------------WYOMING (I know there isn't any QB Austyn Carta-Samuels anymore (transferred to Vanderbilt), but I like their defense more than UNLV)

8th--------------UNLV
