Yep, even made a note about that in this thread somewhere, but didn't put him in my top tiers ......................did have him in some of tickets................so got some money back.......

Two years in a row..............................will remember this next year.....

The derby has become so commercialized past couple years & its getting worse.

Men wearing woman's clothing & commentating on TV. I have no further comments.......

On to the Preakness

You are right , I try not to watch all of the pre-derby hype...................too much story crap about this horse, this owner, this person, how she is dressed etc........... if we are watching it on NBC , just turn it on about 10 minutes to post....... but most of the years we are at a track and watch the Churchill live feed.......................... it has become more of the story around the race and not about the race..........................miss the old days .....

:ohno: Well, another Derby has come to pass, and we had a great day, as always. Met up with the old gang, ate , drank, remembered and didn't lose too much money.

Totally overlooked the 2nd place finisher even though he was 3/3 at Churchill and had the connections of Golden Soul last year....................was lucky enough to place him in two exotic wagers to get some cash back......... wish I would have keyed him though. Another lesson to remember.

Hats off to California Chrome and his connections. He looked tough yesterday, and didn't seem to have to exert himself too much.................because

.......... what a slow race that ended up to be, around 2:04, with slow early fractions setting up perfectly for him. He is going to be a huge favorite in the Preakness, and don't see him losing , but will try to find someone to knock heads with him. If he goes into the Belmont with a chance for the TC, look out......................money to be made there.

Thanks to everyone again for their great and positive posts in this thread. As I said before, that's what it is all about, and most of you are terrific helping out.

On to the Preakness we go, see you all in a few days when the picture gets a little clearer, about who is going to chase Chrome around, and who may be the new shooters.

Be well all.......................

Sorry guys I disagree , CC will go down in the Preakness .. Reason's /// Trainer never ever runs horses after a 2 week layoff . he runs them after 6 weeks at the earliest after a race . I feel this is a huge factor , imo and the trainer may not know how to freshen up CC in just 2 weeks . I will bet against him just for that , alone . The Jock also said that CC tired towards the end of the Derby .. CC 's Beyer was a 97 , which is snail like for a Derby winner !! Untappable the Oaks winner ran a 107 the day before !!! CC will be a decent favorite in the Preakness but for now he's outside my gimmicks .

Hit a small $1 Exacta Box . Had the no show horses of Medal Count and Uncle Sigh , along with both CC"s ...

Thoughts guys ??? (

Kaboom,

Very interesting comments.....................much appreciated and will take that into consideration.................

A 97 Beyer for a Derby Winner.....................wow.......................I knew that this Derby was slow ( almost a 204 time ) .................but a 97...............would like to know if that is one of the lowest Beyers for the past 20 or so years..............have to look that one up...

Thanks and if you are right about CC, the Preakness will provide some good pays..............

The 97 beyer figure is the lowest in past 20 years (I can only go back 20 years) but Wise Dan that's considered a great horse & was horse of the year for 2 straight years got a 94 beyer 2 races prior to the derby.

The trainer is doing the right thing by not working out Chromeo. He said, the derby was his workout for the Preakness.

I believe good things happen to good people & everyone surrounding this horse are good people. The owner said Chrome would win the triple crown before he even raced in Santa Anita derby.

Its a difficult task but this horse will not lose in the Preakness.

I'm.just looking for the possible 2nd place horse & if Commanding Curve runs, he's s toss out because that horse needs a mile of run just to warm up in a race.

I do not believe this horse was getting tired & I didn't see the jockey stating to either. Can you please a link to him saying this please?

Espinoza was celebrating before the finish line so that may seem that the horse was getting tired but the horse was only responding to his jockey. If they wanted to, this horse could have won by 7 lengths.

Go back & look at several derby winners that were closed on coming to the wire.

Real Quiet was closed on by Victory Gallop in the derby after being up several lengths & only won by 1/2 length, then in the Preakness RQ won by several lengths as VG tried to close on him to no avail.

Plenty of other examples out there as well.

Also, a lot of people tried to beat the favorite in the derby because they are tryingto find value & tthanks to all the media hype & bs, by the time people are done studying, their heads are spinning.

When you can't beat them, join them.
