1st Major of the year is in the books. The PGA Championship is our second stop, May 16-19, 2019. Weather may be an issue as Bethpage Black is the host, Long Island , New York. Likely chilly, consequently the course may play even longer !! (par 71, 7465 yds ). In 2002 Bethpage State Park became the first publicly owned course to host a US Open, pretty cool.

https://www.bethpagegolfcourse.com/about/

you can play the Black course for only $65-75. Non-NY residents tho must pay $130-$150 ...what the hell is that all about....... :)

It has hosted 4 PGA events;

2002 US Open- winner : T Woods

2009 US Open- winner : L Glover

2012 Barclays- winner : N Watney

2016 Barclays - winner : P Reed

[h=1]Golfers can get a free TaylorMade driver if Rory McIlroy wins the PGA Championship[/h]

But to those contemplating a new driver purchase, Rory McIlroy just became a popular pick.
Dick's Sporting Goods, Golf Galaxy and TaylorMade (McIlroy's club sponsor) are teaming up for a PGA promotion. Customers that purchase a TaylorMade M5 or M6 through May 15 can get the club for free if McIlroy wins the Wanamaker Trophy.

^^^^very true Jack was playing with good old boys - weak

1950’s NFL 1970’s NASCAR 1920’s MLB
early 1960s NBA where big white stiffs did well.

One of the good old boys in his 60th year was a par putt away on the 72 hole from winning the open! Cannot call them weak. Mentally tougher than today's players as is evident by Jack's 19 runner-ups. No chokers back then. Don't think any of today's player will be leading a major on the 72nd hole months before their 60th birthday.

was routing for him hard that day, Tom is 69 now, and can likely still shoot his age

final round all set at Quail Hollow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

M Homma -11
J Dufner -11
J Dahmen -11
p Perez -10
R MCIlroy -9
J Rose -8
P Casey -7

a couple of thoroughbreds behind the leaders in Rose and Rory. Think Dahmen struggles, nerves to get to him. Homma did not seem fazed playing with Rory yesterday. Dufner tee to green has been ROCK SOLID. When he is on its like watching a robot. Been awhile for him in this spot, he's experienced. The putter will tell his story

a first time winner and a BIG congrats to Max Homa!!!!! Game changer win as he now has full time status on The PGA Tour. He looked comfortable playing alonside Rory yesterday and today went for it!!!!!

" Homa said Friday he does his best to stay positive. . That’s easier when he’s playing like he did Friday, but also, his caddy won’t let him beat himself up.
“I don’t really get too down on myself,” Homa said. “I have an awesome, awesome caddy that doesn’t let me. If I’m quiet, he yells at me and tells me quiet golfers are usually very mean to themselves. So we have a good thing going.” "

a great 3-week stretch begins this Thursday at Jack's tournament;

The Memorial, Muirfield Village Golf Club, Dublin ,Ohio

The RBC Canadian Open, Hamilton Golf and Country Club, Hamilton, Ontario. I'll be there!!!!! Get the to watch one of the most beautiful swings in golf : Rory McIlroy. With the PGA Tour scheduling changes he makes his first Canadian Open appearance. Hamilton Golf and Country Club is a private course.

The US Open, at ICONIC Pebble Beach Golf Links, Pebble Beach, California

..........................

stacked field this week at Jack's tournament!!!!!!!!!!!

past winners;

2018 Bryson DeChambeau
2017 Jason Dufner
2016 William McGirt
2015 David Lingmerth
2014 H Matsuyama
2013 Matt Kuchar
2012 Tiger Woods

Tiger Woods is a 5-time Champion at Muirfield

J Thomas back from injury.

notable featured groups;

Tiger Woods – Justin Rose – Bryson DeChambeau
Rory McIlroy – Jordan Spieth – Justin Thomas
Hideki Matsuyama – Jason Day – Adam Scott
Phil Mickelson – Rickie Fowler – Matt Kuchar

copying and pasting;

Rory Sabbatini- How long can he sustain this run now at five straight top 20s? You can't rule out another leaderboard appearance at Memorial where his co-runner-up in 2012 headlines a 9-for-11 slate.

Jordan Spieth- Held on for a T8 at Colonial that piggybacked a T3 at Bethpage. He led both fields in strokes gained: putting. Mixed results at Muirfield Village where all three top 55s are top 20s.

Hideki Matsuyama- Steady as he goes on the fringes. Only one top-15 finish in last seven starts, but he's been just outside that bubble regularly. Two top 15s here since winning as a debutant in 2014.

Tony Finau- Modifications in his putting yielded a solo second at Colonial, but his tee-to-green work was just as solid. Expect the rally to keep rolling at Memorial where he's 4-for-4 with three top 15s

Matt Kuchar- The FedExCup points leader has two wins and two seconds this season. Tops on TOUR in GIR. Also No. 2 on Memorial's all-time money list with one victory (2013) among 10 top-15 finishes.

Rory McIlroy- Only one finish outside the top 10 in 10 starts in 2019. Leads TOUR in distance of all drives, strokes gained: off-the-tee and strokes gained: tee-to-green. Five top 15s in seven Memorials.

..........the finish to The 2012 Memorial ....how's that for a flop shot?

can't wait until this kid hits the PGA Tour. He just lapped the field and won the NCAA Individual title. A unique swing. Thankfully no swing coach infected it.

The guy hits it a mile, VERY HIGH, and is quite accurate . As another observed ; ' he's a cross between J Furyk and B Watson'. haha, he really is!!

a lot of moving parts tho, wonder how it holds under pressure

final round all set at Jack's Tournament!!......a leaderboard with 3 former World #1s!! Lots of experience, class.

M Kaymer -15
A Scott -13
J Spieth -11
H Matsuyama -11
P Cantlay -11

where the fuck did Kaymer come from!! he's been MIA the last few years. Happy for him, soft spoken German who's had to handle injury after injury. A Scott knocking on the door, YET AGAIN.Tee to green a FUCKING MACHINE this week; 71% driving accuracy, 72% GIRs. Can the putting hold? .....J Spieth is rounding into form; T3 at The PGA, T8 last week. Threatening again this week. But, his best 4th round score all yr has been a 69. Wired more as a front runner, historically .........Matsuyama a SIZZLING 64 today, a former champion............P Cantlay is averaging 308 off the tee this yr, has 5 top 10's; when does he break through with a career changing win?

should be a great finish at Muirfield!!!!!!!!!!!

is this fuckin' awesome or what? look at that turn,..... how high the hands get, .............how the head stays back :)27) at impact!....................AWESOME SWING!!!!!!!!!

TODAY ...:). With two quality names in Kaymer and Scott in the final pairing, it was unlikely that both would have poor rounds, meaning something special was needed in the groups at -9 to -11. Cantlay responded, a 64 to win!!!! A Scott has to be shaking his head, what does he have to do to win? Spieth with yet another so so final round.

NPTDMREFSUI6THLT4K5GXPY3TM.jpg

“Being able to win on this golf course, in front of Jack, making that putt on the last hole, I can’t tell you how good it feels,” he said.
Engaging in private, Cantlay doesn’t smile much on the golf course and isn’t about to force one. But the advice from Nicklaus — Cantlay first met him when he won the Jack Nicklaus Award as the nation’s best college player in 2011 — stuck with him.

Look around, soak it up and enjoy it.
“I definitely said that to myself down the stretch today on the back nine,” said Cantlay, who finished at 19-under 269. “It put me a little more at ease, and I hit a lot of really nice, quality shots with the lead.

My prediction that a Korean woman would be atop the leaderboard at the Women’s US Open was based on statistics and facts. Korean women are absolutely dominating the LPGA Tour. If you asked me again my answer would be the same but worded more carefully.

lol, nothing Haney said was 'insensitive'. He's a proud American who's frustrated as S Korea and all of Asia is taking over women's golf...for now. He was suspended for his comments. Don Rickles would be cleaning tables today, his comedic genius would be 'inappropriate '. Its the world we live in

Haney takes a shot at Tiger.

https://www.golfdigest.com/story/hank-haney-snipes-back-at-tiger-amazing-how-tiger-woods-has-become-the-moral-authority-on-issues-pertaining-to-women?mbid=nl_060419_daily_hitlist&CNDID=55748003&utm_source=nl&utm_medium=email&utm_brand=gd&utm_mailing=glf_tipoftheweek_news_newdb_ACTIVE_190604_1%20(1)&bxid=MzMxOTA4MjUyNzg4S0&hasha=01f506eb87510e6cc11f5c9b95634ee1&hashb=2f5067712ee635a62bc8461b3da76f2971080123&spMailingID=15762107&spUserID=MzMxOTA4MjUyNzg4S0&spJobID=1660256411&spReportId=MTY2MDI1NjQxMQS2

On Tuesday, he directed his ire at Tiger Woods, who Haney coached from 2004-2010. Following an even-par 72 on Friday at the Memorial Tournament, Woods was asked about his former coach's comments, and he held nothing back, saying Haney "deserved it," referring to his suspension. "Just can't look at life like that. And he obviously said what he meant, and he got what he deserved," Woods added.

Apparently, these comments didn't reach Haney's desk until Tuesday afternoon. That, or he thought over how he would respond for a few days and came up with this statement below, which he posted to his Twitter and Instagram accounts:
"Amazing how Tiger Woods has become the moral authority on issues pertaining to women," Haney wrote. "I spent six great years coaching Tiger, and not once did he ever hear me utter one sexist or racist word. Now, in addition to being a 15-time major champion, I guess he thinks he's also a mind reader? #glasshouses"
Obviously, Haney is referring to Woods' extramarital affairs, many of which occurred while he was coaching Woods. And not surprisingly, like his Sunday evening tweets following Lee6's win, his latest comments are not being received well.

this weeks stop........The RBC Canadian Open, Hamilton Golf and Country Club. An ancient private course established in 1894. Par 70, tree lined , just under 7000 yds, very short for PGA Tour standards. A shotmakers course, length provides little to no advantage. Dustin Johnson is the defending Champion, however, his win a yr ago was at Glen Abbey, an entirely different track. This track will favor a strong iron player, esp the approach shots to smaller sized greens, some with severe slopes. Again, bombers no advantage. So we could have a leaderboard similar to the last time this course hosted this Championship;

2012 final leaderboard;
Scott Piercy (winner) -17
W McGirt -16
B Cauley -14
C Kirk -14
J Teater - 14

yeah, no household names . B Cauley had a great showing last week at The Memorial

Mackenzie Hughes- grew up not very far from Hamilton, knows this track well. Has an advantage of local knowledge. He's also coming off a good showing at The Colonial, a top 10.

B Snedeker, W Simpson- have games suited for this type of course. As does 49 yr old J Furyk

i'll be there Saturday :)...........DJ, McIlroy, Koepka , J Thomas are the big names

a kid that played hockey with one our boys qualified !! Hope he makes the cut, if so , see him Saturday. Quiet kid, lovely parents . His dad was on the bag for the qualifying round. GREAT memory for dad and son!

after 3 rounds..............all set for a cracker of a finish!!

R McIlroy -13

A Hadwin -12
S Lowry -12
B Snedeker -12
H Stenson -10
M Hughes -9

two Canadians got a shot tomorrow (Hadwin, Hughes), ..can it be an extra special day? :)

from a spectator standpoint I prefer Glen Abbey. Nonetheless, this is your traditional classic layout. GREAT course. Rory brought the 'A' game today, A SCORCHING 64. I'll tell ya, ya gotta see these pros in person. TV doesnt do it justice. McIlroy is all of 5'9 TOPS.This guy's driver ball fight is so sick. Tee shot at 1 was ridiculous ; took it over the bunkers, 360 yds later. TREMENDOUS ball flight

McIlroy:

"National championships are very important. They're the oldest championships in our game for the most part," said McIlroy. "If someone said to me earlier 'Do you know how many national opens you've won?' I could count them and I've won five.
"If I were able to win tomorrow that would be my sixth and that would be something I would be very proud of."

SS, that was a VIRTUOSO driving performance this weekend.

Rory in an effort to dial in the wedge game (he is poor from 75-100 yds , ranked outside the top 200) made a big change in the bag this week - 4 wedges .........and proceeds to LAP THE FIELD at The RBC Canadian Open.

64-61 ...on the weekend, lol

weekend stats (keep in mind he led the tournament in driving distance );

Saturday:

driving accuracy :71.4%
gir: 77.7%
driving distance: 322.4 yds

Championship Sunday;

driving accuracy : 78.5%
gir: 61.5%
driving distance: 329.5 yds

wtf!?!!.... forget it, the field was playign for 2nd

Poor playing partner Webb Simpson- fucjkin Rory was consistently 30-40 yards past him off the tee. Unreal. On the par 4 11th dogleg left 476 yds Rory hit a 3 wood, a HIGH drawing thing of beauty ... 332 yds , @):mad:.
Par 5 17th , driver 341 yds, and approach from 195 to two feet, NAIL IN THE COFFIN. Eagle
