Thats the whole problem with your case. Johnson and Mussina still there. Thats the whole problem. Johnson and Mussina are way past there prime and they are 1 and 2

They have the 2nd worst starting staff in the AL East. Pitching wins titles, not hitting. Ask the Texas Rangers of the early 90s. Hell just ask the Yankees.

Ok, if you say so....Mussina and Johnson aren't exactly all done..My point is they have more hitting than ANYONE, and have some veterans who can't be completely written off.

They have several candidates who could fill the role, Wright, Wang, Small, Chacon, this is all combined with their incredible offensive team, that is unmatched!

And lets not forget they will buy a player or two if needed. :finger: bastards!

The last thing I want to do is pull for the fvcking Yankees, but you're not going to sit their and tell me Baltimore is better than NY and will beat them out....Yes I will remember that Chop, no problem reminding you sir.

Can anyone come close to matching this magnificent 7? I don't think so :drink:

good point chop

Mussina has never won a title! I still find that hard to believe.

4.41 era last year
4.59 era year before

and 14 years in the leauge. that was also first time he had back to back seasons with an ERA over 4. So ya moose is probably done.

Jhonson started off the season slow as did many of the yanks and was able to get it down to 3.79 he's probably still got some stuff but it's not going to be enough. Which is astounding, bewilderding and just amazing either that or just plain stupid when considering the enormity that is the Yankees payroll

Depends what we call 'done'...obviously Johnson and Moose are at best 75-80% of what they once were.

Alot of 10-9 games this season.

Since this thread will be bumped up in October. Let me just go ahead and make these predictions right here right now.

Baltimore will finish ahead of the Yankees. (The LEO FACTOR) Everyone going to see just how great LEO is this year. More important than any free agent any team signed in the offseason. Baltimore will lead the division in ERA.

The Yankees and Redsox will combine for less than 165 wins.

Joe Torre will be fired by the All-Star break because the Yankees will be less than .500 by July 1st.

I will bump this thread up in October no matter what. Good or bad.

I always have a great feel for these type of things. I can read between the lines.

Journey, thats is a good point also

I will say that it seems to me that having an ERA in the 3's is a lot harder then when Nolan Ryan pitched.

The AL WEST is awesome baby. 3 great teams.

All 4 of these. Maybe even Baltimore.

Im telling you folks, Baltimore is going to be good this season.

I want to believe you about Baltimore. But everything has to go right. Cause if they come out the gates slow Tejeda & Lopez will be cancers non intentionally. Every game reporters will be asking "Do you still wanna be here?" Over and over.

Hope you are right my friend.

You're not lacking confidence that is for sure...I am not backing Boston though.

Now I get it, the Leo factor....ok makes sense now.

I will take my chances and go out on a twig and say NY beats out Baltimore.

The Orioles have a much better chance of finishing last than first.

Last Summer was a special one to remember because it might have been the last time we saw Journeyman with an Orioles avatar

haha. I like that one. I used to give you a hard time when it was too big I think I said Journeyfan what does that avatar do besides take up too much space and show everyone how not to follow through on a swing. I liked it though, it was just when it was so big at one point that made it annoying.

I would suggest you change to the Baltimore logo before opening day. Otherwise you will unjustly get accused of being a bandwagon jumper.:lolBIG:

Best player of the 80s. Thats a good question. I would have to say Rickey Henderson. But those 2 were pretty good.

In some way Rickey effected every game he played in the 1980's

100% true. Most underated player in the history of baseball. Top 10 all-time.

If Rickey could even play a little defense he would maybe be called the greatest

Hey choptalk...there is going to be alot of room on that Oriole bandwagon...
don't quite see many jumpers except for the Judge...I respect your opinion,
but can't see the Orioles making up any ground in the east.
