Feels like the Cards stole this game, and all the series momentum. Go CARDS!

It's interesting that each team that scored three runs in the first inning lost those games.

They didn't steal anything.

They outplayed Philly. More hits, excellent relief pitching. That +162 was nice. St Louis deserved that win, nothing was handed to them.

Wait....you're saying a series isn't one game?

I'm not saying that the Cards are 100% going to win this thing. I know my OP said that, but in reality I more or less meant that I thought that the +EV was CLEARLY on the Cards, and I think this game points that out...regardless of how the series ends.

I kinda feel like the Phillies stole game one more than the cards stole game two...Completely different game if the two nub shots are outs before Howards hit. Lohse let the two guys in the Phillies lineup who had hurt him in the past hurt him. but that's baseball.

Damn it.

I was at this game. All I can say is that the Phillies were outplayed and out managed...and yet, here we are sitting at looking at a series deficit.

Cardinals could easily have swept this series. Then again, so could have the Phillies. Take away one inning in game 1 where Lohse let up two dinky hits to I think Pence and Rollins (and then blasts to two guys who own him, which was predictable), the Cards have outplayed the Phillies, plain and simple. The results just aren't there. Looks like there's only a slim chance of my series +255 of cashing....but I feel pretty solid in saying that I was 100% on the right side.

Yes you are.

Today was another example of one team getting a big hit, while the other pounded hit after hit but just couldn't score. The DP with Pujols on deck was brutal.

St louis sends it back to Philadelphia for a Game 5. You still have hope.

Another great game last night. Both starters pitched great (well great until Garcia gave up the bomb to Francisco). Series could very well go five.

3-12 w/risp isn't going to get it done. Cards had their chances last night just didn't get the big hit. Out managed? Not sure I understand this statement but ok. Right side...lol! Whatever helps you sleep at night. I guess I'm gonna feel even better if I win my series bet being on the wrong side. Good luck to both teams tonight, I think its going to be another close one.

Any sane person who has watched this series would admit laying over 1-2 odds on either team is utterly ridiculus.

Outmanaged-Game 2 speaks for itself.

Game 3, everyone bashes the intentional walk but fails to mention How bad Fransisco was vs Garcia, how bad he's been recently, and how purely lucky that was. Just like how completely unlucky Allan Craig hitting a ball right at Utley that was hit harder than Franscisos. If he elevates, homerun. If its 5 feet to either side, tie game. The cards are clearly the better bet, regardless of how the series ends...plain and simple. Anyone without money on the series would admit it. The phillies have 3 runs in 16 innings, and 0 RBIs by their starters.

and lol at Manuel "I liked the righty vs the lefty so I sent him up." The dude was 1 for 9 vs Garcia...that's luck. Not managing smart.

You do realize that lone Francisco hit against Garcia came the last time these two teams played in which Francisco smoked to the wall! LaRussa had an opportunity to hit for Garcia in the bottom of the sixth with two outs and two on and didn't....terrible call! And Manuel was obviously joking, Hamels was well over 100 pitches. He was definitely coming out, Mayberry started so Francisco was the obvious choice to pinch hit. The only bad move Manuel made was taking Bastardo out for Lidge. The intentional walk was a bad call! Ruiz 1-10 on the series, yeah the guy does get some pretty clutch hits but even if he goes yard there its 2-0 not 3-0.

Not that ridiculous when you're running out three of best pitchers in baseball. What about game 1? You keep saying "oh without out those dink hits...and those homeruns we probably win!" That's baseball! Hitters get lucky that's why failing 7 times out of 10 is considered good. What you're saying about game 1 is ridiculous, its like a Rays fan saying today, "hey if Beltre doesn't hit 3 home runs yesterday we probably win" Too much stock in past match ups. Who cares how bad a guy is against someone. It only takes one swing to do damage in baseball. And that's exactly what happened, you have to get lucky to win in the playoffs. And then when you get lucky on top of being good well then that's scary.

Cards had runners on base every inning and couldn't score. I think you have to give a little credit to Cole for bearing down when he could have folded like a cheap suit. I don't know how you quantify one team out playing another. Sure the Cards are out hitting the Phillies but that was to be expected, they had the best offense in the NL. As far as last night goes, everyone spouts of numbers in particular about Garcia against the Phillies. By the way, they were justified. But I will throw some other numbers out about Garcia. He only pitched over 6 innings ten times in 30+ starts this year. I think La Russa tried to squeeze an extra inning and it backfired. He elevated a fastball to a fastball hitter and he hit it out. The one play that stands out for me so far...the dropped foul ball in game 1 by the Cards third-baseman. The next pitch Victorino knocked in the first run and got the crowd back in it. You have to make that catch.

Taking Garcia out in the 6th when he was rolling along? Cmon guys, its the game of baseball, good pitchers clamp down with RISP, Hamels did his job, Cards didnt plain and simple.

The hit he had was an infield hit.

hahahahahhahaa

Watch the games please. Garcia was moving, absolutely mowing, and had thrown like 75 pitches.

And Manuel was obviously joking, Hamels was well over 100 pitches. He was definitely coming out, Mayberry started so Francisco was the obvious choice to pinch hit.

If Mayberry is the only right handed bat you have coming off the bench, then good luck advancing past the brewers and then either what I'm guessing is the Rangers.

The only bad move Manuel made was taking Bastardo out for Lidge.

I'm sure you'd be saying this if Lidge had done his job.

The intentional walk was a bad call! Ruiz 1-10 on the series, yeah the guy does get some pretty clutch hits but even if he goes yard there its 2-0 not 3-0.

Yes, we should OBVIOUSLY expect Fransisco who hasn't had an extra base hit in a month to hit a bomb

Not even close to the same. What I refered to was that I expected Howard to hit a bomb, or to succeed. What you cannot expect is two dink hits to happen right before the bomb.

Too much stock in past match ups. Who cares how bad a guy is against someone.

joking?

So you admit the Phillies have been lucky...and yet they could very easily have lost both games they won. So that's obviously a point to lay -270 or whatever it was :ohno:

Seriously, you need to stop reading Jason Stark or whoever it was, becasue every point you brought up comes directly from that article. It'll make you a much better bettor if you start to think for yourself.

Cards had runners on base every inning and couldn't score. I think you have to give a little credit to Cole for bearing down when he could have folded like a cheap suit.

And you do. Hamels pitched well when he needed. But the cards also executed their game plan, forcing him to throw over 110 pitches in 6 innings and got into their bullpen.

I don't know how you quantify one team out playing another.

You watch the games

sigh. If you going to dig for stats, dig for them. Two of those starts were vs the Phils. After the 6th inning, Garcia has let up 2ER in 15.1IP. Try again.

I've yet to been convinced that the right bet on this series was Phillies -270 (or whatever it was)

Sigh, I will disagree with your point about Garcia. You just want to take two games as a sample size when I am looking at the whole season. Lets take a look at the lineup from May...Martinez, Mayberry(before he got sent down), Francisco, Valdez, and Sardinha. It's well documented he does not pitch well after 6. IMO, La Russa should have pinch hit for him in the 6th when they had runners on. Listen I am not taking anything away from Garcia he pitched well.

I will agree with you on the series bet. I would never lay -300 on any team to win, just doesn't make sense. Best of luck on your future wagers.

Just stop it. You're making too much sense.

You will never convince people who love laying chalk that they are wrong, or made a poor wager.

Its much easier to just bet on the favorite. This site is a haven for chalk players, and that is all well and good. Just don't try to reason with them. Their reasoning is usually this;

I bet on the best team, I don't care what the odds are.

DUDE!!!!! I just gave you the stats that completely shut down this statement. not really sure where that's coming from.
