Why isn't there some sort of gambling alliance to fight and be heard?

I know there was something going on before the bill was attatched but what now? I thought the poker players have done some things.

Just seems with all the smart people out there we would have something to help the fight and get the word out.

Is everyone just going with the wait and see approach which seems like it isn't working.

I think gambling needs some leadership now in these desperate times. Someone to tell us what to do as gamblers. Marches and protests could be beneficial. Who represents gamblers on TV when the stories come out about Pinnacle, Netller, etc.... Forums like the RX and other gambling sites need to work together to come up with a better plan on what to do next.

When I heard you could bet legally in Iraq that made me even more pissed. It is 2007 and the world is moving forward and we are stuck in neutral on this subject. Right or wrong there at least deserves to be a debate.

I am pissed now. Why are we all just sitting here doing nothing. Lets at least tell our side of the story and try and fight back or at least try and go down with a strong fight. I feel like we all could be doing something more, what?

Poker player alliance did the follwing

got some help from Stars (probably other sites but this one I know for sure)

They held free rolls...where you had to sign up to be a member of the alliance to participate

There you had an initial (free) membership in the tens of thousands...if not greater

An initial email list/member list and they've gone from there.

This is doable....we'd need a book to help us (could combine this with a bonus offer)

and we could lobby from there...i've pretty well versed in politics and this isn't the most hairbrain idea.

Like I said...anyone really interested in this..get my email address; this is something i've been brainstorming for a bit now.

tell me what I need to do? I am pissed and I am not going to take it anymore.

Everyone needs to quit being so scared. No one is going to come knocking on your door and arrest you.

Lets get orgainized and be heard. There is nothing wrong with debating this. How is this such an accepted way of thinking in other countries? We are the most free thinking country in the world, at least I thought we were.

I can promise you a couple hundred years ago our ancestors weren't crying about things that didn't go there way and not doing anything about it. They fought and won some of the freedoms we have today.

yeah, and probably 50% of "gamblers" would rather just take your money and rob you at gunpoint no less. the strict few who try to uphold wagering as a way of life or a large piece of income is small in comparison to the whole.

think of all the dangers it would be to congregate. i mean the risk might be small, or it might be huge. organized crime could probably come up with a way to take us all hostage, i can see it now >:D

sounds like a great plan, the alliance and all... but to have a gathering with the huge amount that would show up is kind of scary... we all have money (or want to anyway).

Guys (and girls) that go to these forums are the leaders in the industry. We need to get them involved. We need leadership. Pass the word. Post this or something similiar on all gambling forums.

sure it is a massive hurdle but we have 2 choices: 1) sit and cry, which we are doing and losing the battle everyday or 2) fight back with some sort of organized plan and at least attempt to be heard.

Poker is winning the fight, they are being heard. Poker will be legal within a year, I guarantee it and it is because they stood up for what they beleived in and were heard. They got orgainized and said we are not taking this.

Once some important people realizie how stupid this law and how far behind the times they are than changes will be made but they need to be educated. This can't be too difficult, THE WHOLE WORLD CAN"T BE WRONG. The U.S. will subside to pressure on this if pressure is put on. They (U.S.) don't have time, energy and resources to fight this battle, they just need to be educated on how others think.

it is my understanding the house is about to take a look at the port security bill, and thow some things out, one of the things that will be looked at is the gambling, as you may know, the bill was pushed through on a sat, and the congressman, that was behind the bill, had gotten a contrabution of $1 mil from Harrahs...... you can send and e mail to:

Nancy Pelosi at sf.nancy@mail.house.gov and let your voice be heard.....

I have said it before and I will say it once again. I truly believe that one of the ways to fight this law is to tune Sports completedly out of your life for a period of time. I will enjoy all the other great activities that this world provides. I will not suscribe to any magazines relating to sports nor will I attend any sporting events. I will not suscribe to the NFL package or ESPN cable packages and not pay for any Pay for view events. I will not buy any sports merchandise of any sort. This includes Pro and college sports as they both are hypocrites when it comes to their leaders preaching the evils of gambling. Some people don't actually realize that a lot of the Money generated in all Sports is because people can wager on almost anything. All sporting venues rely on increases in attendence... not decreases in revenue. It's kinda like the stock market...... Just a small decline can be devastating. JMHO

good. This is what I mean. Ideas, thoughts, orgainized plan of attack. Boycotting sports realted things, all we need is someone to pick up on this. Some may say that can't be done but we need mommentum and thoughts like this just adds to the steam we need to pick up and get the ball rolling.

What we have to do is train our minds to think like the rest of the world. That is the problem, we are being told sports gambling is wrong. We need to change the way people think in this country.

The world is watching. Books want us to win and we are not even fighting back. If we actually fought back maybe some of these books would fight back also. We are just laying down like a bunch of pansies and geting pushed around. Lets at least fight back and do something, anything!!!

I'm in. I will e-mail you later today.

I am sick of waking up every day and turning on my computer and being scared. Letting people push me and my money around. Not doing everything to fight back.

Everyone needs to take 2 minutes out of there day gambling and watching sports and start fighting back or all of this going to be gone. We are doing nothing wrong, this accepted way of thinking across the world.
