well C. Crunch, of course those girls are fun to look at. But you know what they think of guys like you that come in there, drooling over them and dropping large tips? You probably think that they're thinking: "wow, that guy has a lot of money. how sexy!" In reality they're thinking: "what a pathetic sucker. I'm gonna take the money that sucker tipped me and laugh at him as I drive to the club, preparing to drop one like it's chaud." I guess it comes down to how much pride you have and how pathetic you are. I read somewhere that the cheapest tippers are doctors and lawyers. The largest tippers are construction workers and rig workers. You figure it out....it's pretty simple (then again, I'm not sure what's worse....working on the rigs and tipping a waitress or working on the rigs and buying up the entire inventory of packs when there is no jersey card in the box)
So how do you come by all this 'wisdom' about what girls are thinking that are waiting on me, not you. You must be God, Ronald! (Or think you are). Maybe thats what some of those fine looking womenthought about or told YOU, not me pal!:monsters-

You sound like a real tight ass who's got everything figured out. You probably are a republican as well. The old line of they view me as a sucker so I don't. Why can't waitresses just feel like this a good customer and decent guy who knows how to have a good time with some class. I guess all those extra thank you's as you leave or the extra treatment you get next time in that place don't count for nothing as well as just not feeling like an a-hole.
I can remember many times being able to get through lines or get table reservations at the last minute for a big group at many places because of the tip reputation. I ain't talkin' about casual dining either. As most things you get as good as you give and using doctors and lawyers as an example of how to live your life is weak since those two professions cause more grief to people than most. It amazes me how in the gambling world someone is a light weight tipper when we ain't humping for the cash the way those who wait on use do.

Top 3 in the worst tipper list are 21-24 year olds, senior citizens and canadians/Europeans which isn't exactly the smartest groups around whereas the top two biggest tipping groups, that are more than those top 3 of the worst, are the people who witness the work getting done more on a daily basis.

Anyone that tips less than 20 percent for adequate or better service is a moron! They may be quote 'intelligent' , unquote, or stupid but they still qualify as classless morons! And I do not accept the premise if the people who can not afford to go out and tip sufficiently go out they should tip accordingly or stay at home and cook! Obviously you non or substandard tippers never had to work to put yourself through school or provide for children as a single mother. :sad3:

You sound like Harvey Keitel sitting at the table at the beginning of Reservior Dogs when he says that the waitress occupation is the most employed position for single working mothers.

So you think that 20 year old waittress you tipped the last time out has any say on whether or not your big group can get reservations last-minute? You're getting reservations last minute because you are either going to be spending a good deal of money at the establishment or you have in the past -- not necessarily because you've tipped well.

Have you noticed at these restauraunts that you are tipping at that you are also receiving excellent service? Don't think that most people are saying you shouldn't tip *at all*... I tip very well for good service.

As most things you get as good as you give and using doctors and lawyers as an example of how to live your life is weak since those two professions cause more grief to people than most.

Wow... All of a sudden being a doctor is not a noble profession anymore? Yikes.

Yet you ignore the most logical of reasoning that 21-24 year old and senior citizens have the least amount of money to be throwing around (not a big contributor to the work force and fixed income respectively) -- has nothing to do with their intelligence. If lawyers and doctors are some of the worst tippers, then a much better case could be made for it being the smarter folk who don't tip (I don't agree with this theory, but just based on those casual figures it is true).

Again -- you make far more than $2.15 an hour working at McDonalds, Wendy's or Sonic... Gotta be some reason these people having to put themselves through school and provide for children as a single mother are choosing these waiting jobs.

I'm a firm believer that you shouldn't be handed anything in life. If you work for it, then I'll sure as hell give it. If a "single mother providing for her children" does an above average job of waiting on my table then she'll be compensated for it.

As another poster said -- maybe if people stopped just throwing out handouts to people not doing their job then service would improve everywhere and those that *do* work hard at their job will be compensated even more.

I responded to Jabow's observation of smarter people are worse tippers. It's obvious that young and old people are usually on the lower economic ladder.

As far as the amount of money being spent, I know plenty of people who frequent a place but still wait and I also know that reputation goes along way and management knows what the people working for them think of different regulars. I had owners tell me in the past that they had to rotate my servers because when the group came in all the workers wanted the area. That's because of the tip and not the check amount even though the bar tab sometimes was higher than the food.:103631605

As far as doctors and lawyers go, who has the biggest overcharge reputation of any profession noble as it might be? The days of the kind old GP that you use your whole life are gone.

Ok, with everyone ok with the tipping and 15% and 20%.
I'm assuming they are all ready to tip their Pastor, pope, priest,
The clerk in the grocery store, the people at he corner store, 7-11 etc.

The flight attendant, the pilot, their kids, the train conductor,
the bus driver, the police department, the doctors, nurses, school teachers, the store clerks, the trash collectors.

And I can go on, and on, when all the good tippers are finish tipping, I can assure you, you'll be dead, D E A D broke, if its fair to tip the waiter, its fair to tip all the other people too.

I've tipped over 20% practically my whole life, 99.9% of the people you tip that's how they make a decent salary, if nobody tipped 99.9%waiters and waitresses would have a hard time making ends meet, I tip when I cant afford to tip, I know alot of times I didnt get the best service in the world, but its not the waiters or the waitresses fault, to me its the right thing to do....

Jabow tip list

I do tip the trash collector, mail carrier , schoolteacher and paperboy at Christmas. I have tipped flight crews for bringing me multiple cocktail rounds on a 5 hour flight since the drinks were free, but none with the doctor or the cops and in Bushworld I can't see the pilots anymore and I don't ride the bus or train to complete your list. I have given the 7-11 and liquor store clerks a tip on Sunday and MOnday night football before.:103631605

I Remember, Don't Think We Don't!

Being The Experienced And Current Las Vegas Bartender That I Am,
Trust Me When I Tell You We Remember. It Will Take A Non-tipper 3 To
4 Times Longer To Catch The Same Buzz As A Tipper (maybe Longer
Depending On The Drink). So It's Either A Buck Or Two Or It's 3 Times
8 To 12 Extra Dollars To Get To Point B(point Of Intoxication) With
The Other Good Boys And Girls (tippers)!

Seems like reading this thread that the gambling industry people past or present tip more than those on the other side of the counter in many cases.
