SLot machine jackpot???

I assume fish would be a regular card holding player where he had played in the past and knew the attendants on a first name basis. Those attendants work the floor HELP PLAYERS.

Well I guess so, but the floor attendents pay scale is not based on them having to receive tips like a poker dealer would be.

I still see absolutely no reason to tip a floor attendent or a cage girl

PO69: It's customary for Vegas players to tip the bartender $100 on a $1,000 royal if they are a regular patron of the bar. There's pressure to toke the pay-out guy in a casino also, $20 should do.

TRUST ME IT IS A VERY BIG PART OF THE PAY AT MOST ALL CASINO's for slot attendants. With Jackpots hitting all the time, this money adds up quickly.

Well OK I admit it, I dont even play the slots!

Hell I put in $100 the other day in a slot just to see if I could HIT ANYTHING!!! I lost the $100 in under 8 minutes. I hit 2 cherries twice ONLY in 30 pulls!!!!.

But IFFFFFFFFFFF I ever do hit a jackpot, I probably wont be able to tip the clerk since I have lost so much on the slots in the past 15 years!!! I actually stopped playing them 5 years ago. Now I am strickly a live poker player and I will play blackjack if they dont use automatic shuffling machines and tehy allow midshoe entry

It is very true that servers are a different minimum wage....the minimum is 2.13 an hour....

The reason that tips are used to supplement the income of the servers rather than the prices being raised, is accordingly then, there would be no incentive for the server to "take care of" the guests needs....Of course you would have to do the regular stuff, just to keep your job, but the extras like "remembering what they drink" "how they like their eggs", "how they like their stake", etc....those are the things that a server does to "earn" a tip....

People dont realize it maybe, but you take alot of things servers do at your "regular" hangouts for granted.......its nice when they know your name, have your drink ready when u come in, ask if you want your "usual" etc.....

I AM SPEAKING from experience here...

You will also learn, that most anyone who has worked as a server/bartender, will become a much better tipper when they are the customer as well....I certainly have.....

I now tip the pizza guy, have always tipped the bj dealer, if we are hot, i tip the barber, and tip very well in restaurants and bars now....

Funny those that look DOWN ON SERVERS/BARTENDERS, its a harder job than many of u think, and takes more skill then u realize too.....a great deal of patience is required as well.....

Everyone cant be lawyers and CEO's you know.....

WHEN you get paid 10 grand in cash it's hard not to with all that cash in hand. Even on smaller ones the last hundred is paid in SMALL bills so the tip usually happens.

I appreciate all the great responses posted here, I gives a wide angle view of the thoughts individuals have.

I personally think its ok to tip, thats your perogative, but some services is not compulsory that you tip, its a person job. I gave some examples where other employees dont get tips.

But remember, its the CLIENT who makes the business STAY in business.
WHY AREN'T THE CLIENTS BEING TIPPED?

ok, in casino's, you get the "drinks", but thats mostly to get you drunk and disoriented.

also in casino's, they comp, but mostly real hig rollers, giving some one a fancy room, being picked up in limo, is all and illusion, those are all chomp change when it comes to a guy dropping 10/20/40/100 K in a night on the casino floor.

I remember in Costa Rica at a casino, you bought in like a 100$ in chips and they gave you like 5-10$, now thats what I call good service.

Whenever I hear the "waiters only make $2.13 an hour" arguement, one has to wonder why exactly they applied/took the job?

Lets see... $2.15 an hour at a restauraunt, or $7 an hour at a fast food joint.

Why oh why would people be choosing to be a waiter?

Oh yes, thats right -- because most make out like bandits. Look at the declared income of someone who works as a waiter in a restauraunt making $2.15/hour and someone who works at a local fast food joint making $7/hour -- I guarantee you the waiter is making a hell of a lot more on a yearly basis.

Like I said before -- its becoming too standard to give tips to waiters that give shitty service. If I don't get "adequate" service from my waiter, I don't tip. Now by adequate I don't mean the food isn't late, because that is 99% of the time not the waiter's fault. But if I'm having to ask for things 2-3 times, etc, then don't expect a tip.

Same with a bar -- if I'm waiting 20 minutes to get a drink despite people who have walked up after me getting one, there will be no tip. At first you'll find that *if* the bartenders remember you (which often doesnt happen anyways at the larger joints -- and the smaller joints generally don't have a waiting problem), they'll eventually realize why it is that they are receiving no tip and eventually correct it.

It's just not logical to pay someone more for them doing a shitty job. It's really not even logical to pay someone more for doing an adequate job (though we all do it, including myself).

The Soul

The way a person tips is a good reflection of the kind of person they really are.

Very interesting discussion indeed.
I live in Costa Rica, where as wolf said tips are mandatory and included in the bill. It is like part of the salary of the waiter, like the commision of the sales person. We are stingy, so this way is better :).

But when I go out to bars, I like sometimes giving tips, like money out of my pocket and not as part of the bill, when I receive good service. I think I actually have a good salary and it is a kind of retribution for the great (not only good) service that I sometimes get. It also makes people remember you and they will see you as a better customer, and sometimes as a more of a friendly guy.

I agree with Silence about the fact that the argument of them getting paid too little is crap, though. If they get paid little, they can get another job and get paid more on a steady basis. It is a thing of commisions, like a sales person. A tip, at least in the States, is the way you recognize the quality of the service. Poor service, no tip. Good service, good tip. That is how things should be.

I think tipping is an absolute joke. I'm a believer in the free market system. Norega commented that we should tip waiters because they make only a few bucks an hour. I fail to see how that's my problem. My job is not to subsidize their paltry wages. If they aren't happy, they can ask for a raise or find another job. Of course, they will never be granted a raise because supply and demand forces basically dictates that any Murray out there can be a waiter. You don't require any form of education and often times no experience is necessary. Simple economics. If everyone is qualified to be a waiter, then they should make a low wage. Do I tip? Sadly, yes I do. I know if I don't that I will perhaps suffer the next time I visit an establishment. Tipping was first designed to be a gratuity given if an individual goes above and beyond their regular required duties. If a cab driver takes a smart route to get me to the airport ten minutes faster, then I feel justified in tipping. If I get upgraded to a suite at a hotel, then I will tip. But why should I tip some 22 year old waitress with long legs and big tits simply because she shook her ass in my face and smiled at me? It's ridiculous.

I usually way overtip also but in the case of the long legs and big tits and a smile to boot there is no such thing as overtipping, in my opinion. (Unless there is a reason you dont like that kind of girl?):lolBIG:

well C. Crunch, of course those girls are fun to look at. But you know what they think of guys like you that come in there, drooling over them and dropping large tips? You probably think that they're thinking: "wow, that guy has a lot of money. how sexy!" In reality they're thinking: "what a pathetic sucker. I'm gonna take the money that sucker tipped me and laugh at him as I drive to the club, preparing to drop one like it's chaud." I guess it comes down to how much pride you have and how pathetic you are. I read somewhere that the cheapest tippers are doctors and lawyers. The largest tippers are construction workers and rig workers. You figure it out....it's pretty simple (then again, I'm not sure what's worse....working on the rigs and tipping a waitress or working on the rigs and buying up the entire inventory of packs when there is no jersey card in the box)

You dont tip if you are one of the following. In my opinion the worst tippers are

Blacks, Indian-Hindus. Old people. Women. Young kids. Small town Midwest.

Foriengers, like Mexicans, South Ameicans, Europeans. The best tippers by far are those that depend on tips and gay men. Not lesbians, they hate men.

This is really a quite simple question, and the answer is BECAUSE THEY DON"T MAKE SHIT.

Unless they've done something to wrinkle my feathers, I'm a 20-25%+ guy. That extra couple of bucks means a hell of a lot more to them than it does me.

Quick google of "best tippers":

From Bartending Magazine:

<TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=5 width="100%" border=0><TBODY><TR><TD width="100%">BEST Tippers usually are:
Restaurant People: 1402
Hairdressers: 62
Taxi Drivers: 11
Wise Guys: 90
Wannabee Wise Guys: 159
Small Business Owners: 117
Salesmen: 71
Regular Customers: 523
Liquor Salesmen: 58
Tavern Owners: 140
</TD></TR><TR><TD width="100%">WORST Tippers usually are:
Teachers: 226
Doctors: 129
Women: 224
Lawyers: 162
21-24 year olds: 524
Canadians/Europeans: 483
Senior Citizens: 619
Bankers: 93
Pipe Smokers: 34
Computer Wizards: 107

Surprising to me that Bankers aren't higher on the "WORST" list, seeing as they likely have a better than most idea of money management.

Also surprises me that small business owners are on the "BEST" list. Would seem to me that with the thin margins that a small business owner starts out with that they would be more frugal.

Then why not refrain from tipping the extra couple of bucks to the waiter that did not do an adequate job, and at the end of the year add it all up and donate it to a charity or find some truly needy kid who needs some financial help for college. I'm all for sharing the wealth if you're wealthy -- but I choose to share it with those that have shown they are worthy of it.
