It seems most who are commentating are siding with Baltimore yet the vote is showing up Chicago with the lead.

My point was, keeping a team together in this era is impossible...Yes the Bears had a greater run as a defense, No statistcially they weren't as great for one season.

Ravens allowed 6.01 yards per pass attempt
Bears allowed 6.18 yards per pass attempt

Ravens 11 TDs 23 INT
Bears 12 TDs 31 INT

Ravens allowed 2.69 yards per rush
Bears allowed 3.43 yards per rush

Ravens total yards 4145
Bears total yards 4633

Jman you can't compare stats from different eras, (Bears actually allowed fewer yards 4,135 to 4145) If that's the case Bradshaw's career QB rating of 70.9 would barely get him a starting job in today's NFL. Must compare how a team dominated it's competition. 85 Bears most dominate single season IMO!

Not even comparable...The 70's played under different rules ....trying to compare Terry Bradshaw QB rating in this is ridiculous .

According to NFL reference the 85 Bears allowed 4,633 total yards.

Sure the rules have changed but if you look at Staubach, Dawson, and Jurgensens' ratings it is comparable to todays QBs, much like you can't compare the Steelers D of the seventies to the Ravens D of 2000, a huge size and speed mismatch. By the way those numbers are way off, but there really isn't a way for me to prove it on a forum, but don't conclude that I'm off my "rocker" just look at nfl.com website and I can guarantee you that everyweek their numbers are off. Their turnover standings never add up to zero!!!!! Offence and Defence total numbers don't add up to each individual game/stat entered on the site! But that is an entirely different topic.

No question huh, was it the fact the 85 Bears allowed more yards passing per game, more yards rushing per attempt, more points, or more total yards?
I watched both defenses with both eyes and closely, Bears dominated more IMO, give them the edge. I say that being a Packers fan too.stats aren't everything thats why marino is the most overrated superstar ever

Of course the Steelers were the greatest of them all.

With a few bounces or breaks they may have won 7 Super Bowls in the 1970's

The Ravens had to go to Oakland for the AFC Championship game, a team at the time that was heavily favored and a great offensive team...

This is what Oakland did that year at home;

Oakland Raiders points scored at home 24,36,31,49,41,31,52,27 PPG

They scored 3 against Baltimore.
For some reason, this stat right here reaches out and grabs me the most.

Did not Gannon got hurt after few plays and replaced by Bobby Hoying?

I think your right. Also Oakland wa a flawed team and a good decent defense was going to shut them down

I think Judge meant the 75 team .

I fully expected the Bears to win this poll rather easy, as they were one of the most popular teams in sports history.

One thing about the Steelers back then they always seemed to lose once a year to Cincy...Do you recall that 7-3 game ? It was played in a blizzard...

When you look at the schedule, the final 9 games that season, the scedule was somewhat easy, besides the Bengals who were 10-4....Bradshaw got hurt early that year, and Pitt lost 3 of its first 4 by 3 or less....And back then only one wild card team , they HAD to win out just to get in....

It was the Raiders who beat the Bengals late that season to allow Pittsburgh to win the division.

Cincy was 9-2 and Pitt was 7-4 with 3 games left.

The Raiders lost just once, 16-1 season.

Yeah was thinking of 75 where they shut down the Vikings. Don't remember exactly but think Vikes had under 20 yards rushing. They also won in 76 against Dallas.
