The average price in the US won't hit $4, but if it does it won't hold at that level for more than a few weeks.

this is still a tough call if it will hit $4 which it could but if we address the huge lack of refineries that will help emencly,

Over the next several years we will have trouble remembering $2 gasoline as $4 is only a rest stop for the coming higher prices.

As I am employed in the wholesale petroleum industry take my word on this, gasoline, if the strom strikes the texas refinery area will not be $4.00 a gallon, it will go straight to $5.00 or higher. I never say the word lock but this is about as close as I have ever come.

crude up over $67.00 already and many supply terminals have locked out big buyers until the mid-day price increase take effect. 25-35cent increase at 1.00pm and more to follow at 6.00pm as well as 12.00pm tonight, this is going to get very ugly in the next 5-10 days.

It will hit 40 bucks a gallon when Bush agrees with moveon.org and get out of the mid east and close refinerys and stop needless exploration in mother earth...and then all the lefties will be glad to go with out cars TV's heating oil PC's,and everyone will be walking in their birkenstocks and pulling rickshaws....and some how some way it will be Bushes fault.

Really? Move on said to close refineries?

Executive branch, both houses, the top courts....a media that gave Bush a free ride for 2 years after 911...what exactly do repubs need to start drilling in alaska and refining this supposed font of oil that we have at our disposal?

Oh yeah..environmentalists...the same folks who couldn't stop the strip mining out west...Yucca mountain...the dioxin level change legislation...the mercury limits change....those folks are the ones to blame.

Bush should have never cut the bill which allowed alternative energy vehicle purchasers to get a discount. All of his policys make it tough for us to advance past the huge dependancy of oil and gas.

It's all about the $. There are a ton of other energy options, but it is all being stifeled by this greedy administration.

I wish the planet would run out of oil so we could just get on with life. Trust me, we'll be ok.

I'd bet you a dollar to a donut that they will do anything to prevent new refineries which we are desperatley in need of.

My point was and is that the people that bitch the most about this stuff would be the first to whine when they had to suck it up and go without.

Oh ok...see, that may have been your point, but what you said was

"Bush agrees with moveon.org and get out of the mid east and close refinerys"

My mistake for not being able to interpret that you not only read the minds of moveon.org - but that you know the policy paper of this PAC.

Actually the merging of big oil led to some of the cutbacks at the refinery level, as well as the unrealistic restrictions imposed by the feds on updating and building of new refineries, it is cost prohibitive to construct and get a new facility on line now. There is plenty of blame to go around as I feel no one group or party is to blame just a combination of all of their arrongance and stupidity. We the general public will again be punished by our blind faith to whatever party we belong to and follow like sheep to a slaughter!!!

Thanks for bringing some close to source information to this forum. So many people say gas cannot go higher because they dont "want" that to happen.

Reality is that the market doesnt care what most dont "want" to happen. The price of gas, as other commodities will be where supply and demand intersect.

Whether that price is $1 or $10, so be it. People should adjust their lifestyle.

Tease, if you live in the Houston area, let us know the extent of the refining damage.

Are there any sites that are taking bets on gas averages? The under is a lock if people are gonna post crazy stuff like $5 a gallon.

Pinnacle paid plenty of rx posters on the $3 prop I doubt they will hang another gas prop for a while.

I would definitely bet $4 dollars before end of 06 and would take a shot at $5 if the odds were fat enough.

Are the bets that gas prices will reach a certain level, or that they reach that level and stay there to a certain date like 12/31/05?
