In all seriousness, I understand the Derby is an event... I'm sure it's a blast to be there, drink, go to the concerts, flirt with the ladies in the hats... But as a sporting event on tv, I could really care less... I think most of america - even sports fans dont care.

Gamblers and old guys is what I think of when I think of horse racing

Thanks for thinking of me.....I love the Triple Crown Races and the Breeders Cup....and the races leading up to the Kentucky Derby....

STOP BEING SO NARROW MINED...GEEZ..WTF

GO THERE ONCE...

THEN SPOUT OFF, YOUR NONSENSE FOR WHICH YOU HAVE NO PROOF...

NOT TO MENTION YOUR DEMEANING REMARKS ABOUT HORSE PLAYERS...

F-U....

WHY ARE YOU SO CONDESCENDING....AND ALL RIGHTEOUS...

WTF

I've been saying this about him for a while now........all except the horse racing part.

Oh, and I usually question his sexuality (or imply that he's still a virgin)

Other than that, Nice job!

wow... Sorry you feel that way...

What's narrow minded about not liking the Kentucky Derby.. or really anything? Isn't that what a forum is for to share opinions, particularly in a thread about what do you like more?....

Furthermore, I said I see the appeal of being there, I'm pretty sure that's a compliment- I'm sure it's a great thing to attend. I know nonsports fans, non gamblers who've gone and absolutely loved it. I was ignorant about the culture and how big of an event it was before I had these conversations. But clearly horse racing isn't my thing - I wouldn't hold it against anyone who doesn't like boxing not being excited about it...

Clearly you needed to get this off your chest... Sorry If I've done something to upset you, like everyone else here, I enjoy talking sports and have opinions, clearly some that are more contrarian ... nothing is meant to be personal

Hopefully this is the last time ever someone apologizes for expressing an opinion that they would rather watch two highly skilled trained pugilists go at it than some horses run around a track.

He thinks horse racing sucks, who cares?

People say a certain sport sucks every single day on this site. I guess once you reach 75 you can't handle the type of swagger that oozes out of Defying.

the kentucky derby is one of the greatest sporting events ever.

And age has nothing to do with it

guessing avg age of those that selected the derby is 75...

YOU are the one that feels that way, no?

Notice I said, in all seriousness in my next post, because of the "joke" in the previous post.

I think horse racing is a dying old man sport.. like boxing is a dying sport for other reasons, there's nothing condesending about that.

YOU are the one with the problem... So yes, I am truly sorry you feel that way. I also said sorry if Ive done something to offend you.... But you will continue you the way you do, nothing I can do about that

Once people found and were able to gamble on other stuff legally, horse racings popularity declined rapidly.

If it wasn't for gambling I doubt it would even be a sport.

Wow. No shit. You think the NFL would be as popular w/o gambling? You should watch Let It Ride when Teri Garr comes to the track and asks do you have to bet on them? Do the Patriots cheat? Yes that is why there is horse racing. When the Indians didn't run casinos, that is what Americans bet on. Now we turned into zombies who get a thrill pushing a knob every five seconds and watching shit spin around and getting 75 cents for every dollar they put in. Give me a form and a race every half hour and I'm happy. Give me a field of 20 3-year-old colts on the first Saturday of May; I'll let you watch two mid-30-year-olds go 12 rounds that night.

This is about the age of those I see if I stop in, Hope May 2nd I'm golfing.......

With convincing wins in each of his last two races and some good workouts of late, American Pharoah has emerged as the betting favorite leading up to the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs on May 2. The bay colt is expected to be one of the top choices on race day.
American Pharoah is currently going off at 8/1 on the odds to win the Kentucky Derby at the sportsbooks. The horse's career got off to a shaky start in a disappointing maiden debut, but over his two races since American Pharoah has jumped out to an early lead and breezed by the competition against Grade 1 opponents. After being scratched from the Breeders' Cup Juvenile with a deep bruise back in November, some bettors were concerned about American Pharoah's health moving forward; but recent training workouts including a 1:12 2/5 six-furlong run indicate the favorite is good to go.

Another Bob Baffert horse expected to be a major contender in the Derby is Dortmund, who is going off at 12/1 on the 2015 Kentucky Derby betting lines. Sired by 2008 Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner Big Brown, Dortmund has shown his pure talent right out of the gate with convincing wins in his maiden race and when stretched to a mile in his second race at Churchill Downs. Dortmund's good late kick should keep the horse in the race down the stretch.

derby was my vote
