I actually think JM has a few years over either one of us (I'm 31). I'm deaf so I guess typing the word "dude" to friends seem less corny than sounding like a beach bum by saying "dude" out loud, I guess. I understand your view, though.

I wouldn't say "dude" in person... I'd be more likely to say "word" or "bro" to fellow hearing coworkers (both white & black) because it's easier to say, ha. I would bump fists and so forth.

I just had assumed something amiss was with that word 'dude', but yeah, that's mostly used by those in teens or 20's.

My one-word pet peeve is how many people say "Awesome." Please. Don't get me started now.

Speaking of saying Dude at the beach, check out this video by Scatterbrain called "Don't Call Me Dude". It starts off kind of slow but it includes beach babes in the middle. My favorite part is where the guy gets pissed at being called Dude that he slugs an old lady. Don't worry, it's so fake that it's funny.
