I've never watched a complete game of hockey on TV, and probably never will.

Live hockey is ok.

Nothing beats Hockey. Hands down the most exciting sport to watch live in person.

Rarely watch hockey anymore, but watched it all the time years ago. Was a huge Bruins fan during the Bobby Orr, Phil Esposito, Johnny Bucyk years. The game was alot different then, more offensive minded. Orr was always fun to watch and to this day the most exciting player I ever saw. One thing I can say even to this day is that hockey is easily(in my opinion) the best sport to see live. It is so much different seeing it live than on TV. Ive been to many minor league, junior and even high school hockey games and they are always exciting. Bu thats just me...

I will watch any hockey game that i don't have money on. I watch 0% of games that i bet on. If i have the under and i flip on the game there is a score within 30 seconds it seems. lol Same thing if i pull up NHL.com to check a score. Something i don't want to happen happens. As far as being entertained.....i think it is Awesome once you get to know the teams and give it a chance. I grew up playing soccer my whole life and have to admit it is a real hard sport to watch on TV for me. I think i'd rather watch golf than soccer.

Years ago, my first game in person, as a kid was at the Montreal Forum. Every bit as exciting as my first baseball game in person, as a kid at Yankee Stadium.

Ask Gary Bettman that...

I'll answer that for you.

After the lockout in 05...ESPN had an option they chose NOT to exercise for 60 million. They tried to low ball the NHL and offered them an extreamely low contract. Bettman told them to get fucked and took his league to another network. One that would devote to them their sport as the no.1 sport on it's network. It was a little know network that gave the NHL top billing. Something ESPN could never do for them. Ever. In turn both the network and the league has grown substantially. They are turning out record numbers now that have more than surpassed anything they did over at ESPN. ESPN called his bluff and he rolled the dice and won. He's hated by most but the proof are in the ratings. Every year they get better. And this year will be no different.

what do you think about hockey?

It is better than tiddlywinks & coin flipping unless i have money on them.

It is on a par with futbol, a bit above MLB, a bit behind NFL, all of which are miles
behind a good movie and light years behind sex.

BTW, the best gamblers at any sport are probably those who watch them.

personally i cant watch this sport. bores me to death. im a big fan of european football, which i know you guys hate for the most part, and i get told plenty that "hockey is soccer on ice." really, it isnt. the stars are playing the whole game for the most part in soccer (3 subs) and there are no timeouts or commercials (cept halftime). hockey you get guys coming in off the bench so often hard to know whos even playing, plus you have 2 intermissions which seems kinda ridiculous to me. i live in a big hockey town (bandwagon at least) but i really could care less about the game, i might check it out every so often during the playoffs, but i dont think ive watched a whole game other then being there, and i didnt even like that much.

a guy who likes soccer is calling hockey boring

too each his own, i dont have to sit through a million breaks in soccer at least and get to see the stars for the whole 90 minutes most of the time.

To each his own. Yes I agree with that because I'd rather sit through commercials than watch soccer.

Hockey is the kind of entertainment that either propagates passion or apathy. Not much in between.

I vote aye.

You can leave any soccer game for 20 minutes, and there is little chance of missing anything exciting. If they had to cut the grass twice a game, would soccer then be boring?

I think it's what you grew up with. I've never been able to sit through a full soccer match.

Played the sport at almost every level since I was in kindergarten. Can't say I've watched a single NHL game this year. Although I am 26-4 on the year betting SIA scalps with Pinnacle. @)

Loved watching the Wings - Avs in the 90's, but the Avs have been down since the lockout and the salary cap was enforced. Why can't all professional sports leagues take a page out of the European soccer leagues and have tiers? No salary caps. Capitalism at it's finest.

Should the teams spend themselves into bankruptcy like the Premier League too? It's a novel idea, but that system is very flawed.
