RECOMMENDED CHOICES

The Walker Group Picks

# 11 TA BUENO 9/5

# 10 CORNERBACK SACK 12/1

# 1 TROUBLE WITH GIRLS 7/2

TA BUENO is my choice. Hernandez has a very solid winning percentage with horses travelling in dirt sprint races. Could beat this group given the 84 Equibase Speed Figure put up in his last outing. With Centeno getting the mount, watch out for this pony. CORNERBACK SACK - Has run well when moving a dirt sprint race. Has formidable speed figures and has to be considered for a bet in this race. TROUBLE WITH GIRLS - He has been running solidly and the speed figs are among the top in this group of horses in this race. Is a contender - given the 73 Equibase Speed Fig from his most recent race.

#3 BOY G. (ML=8/1)
#4 RANCHO VIEJO (ML=9/2)
#1 PUT TO THE TEST (ML=4/1)

BOY G. - After the affair aboard this animal on November 24th, the rider is going to be in tune with the gelding much better. Based on the TrackMaster data I've reviewed, this gelding should run well off the layoff. You'll be making money right and left by turning your gambling cash onto this jock/conditioner combination. RANCHO VIEJO - Based on the TrackMaster data I've reviewed, this gelding should run well off the layoff. PUT TO THE TEST - You always have to be on the prowl for bankroll building jockey/trainer combinations; we have an instance right here.

Vulnerable Contenders: #5 MIDSTATESMAN (ML=2/1), #6 CASTLE CLOWN (ML=3/1), #2 MAJOR ROCK STAR (ML=5/1),

MIDSTATESMAN - I usually try to beat these types of morning-line choices off the long layoff. Run-of-the-mill rating last out at Charles Town at 6 1/2 furlongs. Don't think this vulnerable equine will improve too much in today's race. CASTLE CLOWN - Finished fifth in his most recent performance with a mediocre speed rating. When I look at today's class figure, it would take an improved performance to triumph after that in this bunch. MAJOR ROCK STAR - Would have to perk up off that fifth place finish last time out to make an impact here.

STRAIGHT WAGERS:
#3 BOY G. To win at post-time odds of 4/1 or better

#5 EMBERADO (ML=7/2)
#1 TIBURON LATINO (ML=5/1)

EMBERADO - Gelding took a little vacation, but has been racing into shape. TIBURON LATINO - This rider/trainer duo has been producing a very profitable ROI, right at +88. Each one of this gelding's recent finish positions has been progressively better. This gelding is in good form. Ran first on Feb 10th.

Vulnerable Contenders: #4 KOWBOY TUFF (ML=7/5), #8 LORD DONERAILE (ML=8/1), #6 OVERSIZED (ML=8/1),

KOWBOY TUFF - Difficult to keep stabbing at this sort of 'bridesmaid' horse. LORD DONERAILE - Notched a mediocre speed rating in the last race in a $5,000 Claiming race on March 3rd. Not probable to see an improved performance off of that rating.

Top HatGUEST COMMENTARY: Hal - TIBURON LATINO - This steed should be your gambling choice today. This gelding has posted improving speed figures in his last two events.

STRAIGHT WAGERS:
Putting our cash on #5 EMBERADO to win. Have to have odds of at least 8/5 or better though

By Jeremey Day

DRF HARNESS

Race 8 - $10,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

Jeremey’s $1 Pick Four Play:

4,5 / 1,5,9 / 5 / 1,2,3,4,5,7,9 = $42

Best Bet: LUCKY DANISH (7th)

Spot Play: OPENING NIGHT GEM (3rD)

Race 1

(3) SBM GEORGIAN STAR trotting mare dusted a similar group last out; short price. (2) DOUBLE A GLORIA gets sent out for an inconsistent trainer but is capable of a good effort. (1) CINCINNATI MYSTRES gets the best post in weak field.

Race 2

(8) ACTIVATOR looks tough to go against even from the outside. (1) RUFF STUFF JACKSON quit badly last out but does show an excellent effort from the rail a few starts ago. (6) CYCLONE ASHORE needs a smooth trip but is one of few threats in the race.

Race 3

(6) OPENING NIGHT GEM well bred gelding's mother was a world champion. The pacer showed some ability in his only start and could offer a nice price. (3) TIE YOUR SHOE ED has some upside but needs to be closer turning for home. (1) TAX FREE comes off a nice qualifier for a new barn.

Race 4

(5) SANTA'S SPECIAL takes a significant drop in class and picks up the top driver. (8) KEYSTONE ROYCE seven-year-old pacing gelding was roughed up last start but does own a good burst of speed if he can find a way into the race. (9) TULFRA also drops in class but will need to navigate the second tier; command a price.

Race 5

In a weak field with few contenders (4) FLIP IT ON owns a win at this level and should be closer turning for home. (2) SHINDEAGAN just missed last out and gets a good post. (6) STAR MASTER FOX benefits from the best driver and gate speed.

Race 6

(2) LITE ME UP twelve-year-old stallion takes a good drop in class and will be used aggressively. (5) CCS LOVER N has just been racing evenly but faces slightly easier. (6) HAGI was poorly driven last out but should be closer turning for home offering a fair price.

Race 7

(8) LUCKY DANISH the top driver opted elsewhere, however the 5-year-old will be blasting early and just needs to ration out his speed. (7) UF CASHNMYCHIPS sophomore filly trotter has some upside but needs to find a way into the race. (3) UNLIMITED WINNER owns a win at this level but gets sent out for a low percentage pilot.

Race 8

(4) REAL FUTURE well bred gelding is the horse to beat but does come off a six week layoff. (5) MASERATI SEELSTER has some question marks coming off a scratch but is one of few in the race who's been competitive at this level. (6) JUDE HALL bumps up in class off a victory for an inconsistent trainer; command a price.

Race 9

(9) TALLADEGA HANOVER well bred trotter should be in line for a ground saving trip and just needs to work out a trip against a suspect bunch. (1) FASHION GLIDE mare takes a big drop in class, gets the best post, and picks up the top driver. (5) LADY REV mare gets sent out for a low percentage pilot but is capable of beating this group.

Race 10

(5) BROWN TITAN will look to drop and pop down in class; fires early. (3) MR DEUCE makes his third start in a new barn but has lacked stamina late. (1) MAJOR MIKE rarely wins but gets the best post; use underneath.

Race 11

In the toughest race to handicap on the card (1) SUCCESSFUL VENTURE should offer a huge price and just needs some racing luck for a shot late. (4) PANDAPOCKET has just been racing evenly but gets a good driver change in a field full of question marks. (7) OL' MAN RIVER has been facing tougher but could be hampered by a dull outer flow.

Race 12

(3) ANNIE'S MASTER doesn't look the best on paper but could threaten with an easy early lead. (9) BEAUREGRET takes a huge drop in class and owns a decent burst of speed. (7) ZORGWIJK MERCEDES gets sent out first start for capable connections and picks up the top driver.

Race 13

(1) BROULE HANOVER gets the best post in a wide open and evenly matched race. (6) MELVIN'S DREAM comes off a scratch but gets sent out for a high percentage barn. (5) BRYNDAN'S TOY picks up a huge driver change and is one of few who's been competitive at this level.

Race 14

(4) ROSSRIDGE HANDSOME burned cash last out getting parked the mile. The pacer drops in class and will be tough to beat with an easy lead. (3) OIL SLICKER bumps up in class and needs more. (1) QUICK KIL top driver opted elsewhere but the pacer can hit the board with a good effort.

Race 15

(9) RIGHT ON TIME takes a huge drop in class and will be used aggressively. (1) I'M JUST CRUISIN takes the same drop as the top choice but rarely wins; command a price. (2) DIAMONDS REVENGE is a threat at this level especially with a smooth trip.

Wednesday's six-pack

-- Gonzaga 91, BYU 75-- Nine WCC tourney titles in last 12 years for Zags.

-- BYU has a hoop player named Skyler Halford who was born in 1989.

-- You watch teams win conference tourneys now and people are taking selfies on the court and you realize the world has changed a lot in a short period of time.

-- I'm watching Law and Order reruns and Jennifer Garner has a small role in a 1996 episode; now she is in every other commercial on ballgames.

-- Tough break for the Blue Jays; Marcus Stroman tore his ACL Tuesday; he had an 11-6 record last year. Good young pitcher.

-- This is the current state of the Knicks: their best player is Alexey Shved.
