Courtney is a shitty person for lying several times, and she clearly is going after some sort of financial reward.
Urban knew that he beat her in 2009? How do you know that?
How do do you know Urban deleted texts? I hope you realize that deleting texts wouldn’t do ANYTHING.
Urban probably didn’t talk about it at media day because he wasn’t prepared to at all. I also think he knows a lot less than people are accusing him of knowing. People are rushing to conclusions without ample evidence, that’s the bottom line here. Urban seems genuine to me in this case.
Interesting how the deleting texts story comes out after we find out his punishment.
He probably knew about some of their troubles, but had no clue what the extent of it was. He also probably heard information from both sides and genuinely didn’t know what to do, since both Zach and Courtney are clearly not credible.
Honestly he probably handled it like most people in that situation would. Maybe he could’ve handled it better, but absolutely shouldn’t have lost his job over it. The punishment reflects that.
Lol I know what I’m talking about. I acknowledged he could’ve handled it better, but there are people out there that genuine believe Urban Meyer went out of his way to protect a monster. It’s not that simple, and it doesn’t work like that.
The punishment is exactly what I thought it’d be. You can’t just assume things without evidence. You also can’t ignore the shitty things Courtney did and the the clear fact that McMurphy probably cares more about publishing a big story than actually addressing domestic violence.
It’s not a completely one sided thing, and this decision reflects that.
"Lol I know what I'm talking about."
But you didn't know Urban knew about the 2009 DV arrest and you didn't know he deleted all his text messages before turning in his phone yet you're defending him but claiming we all would've done the same and calling Courtney Smith a "shitty person" for lying (you still haven't said what she lied about) but carry on.
I think it’s reasonable to be conflicted if you hear two sides of a story, and believe that Courtney could be lying . It’s really not that unreasonable, and very human to think that way.
The point is Urban and the program shouldn’t have to suffer for something like this. They learn from it and move on.
She lied several times about Zach chasing after her, even though he was at football practice. I think the guy is a shithead, but a lot of this looks like Courtney looking for a financial incentive as well.
Theres nothing incriminating enough against Meyer here.
What I mean by “we all would’ve done”.... I mean that we all would’ve struggled with how to deal with that situation. People are assuming Meyer knew a lot of information that he might’ve not known. How is that fair to him?
In this thread you called Courtney Smith a "shitty person" because she "lied" but you you're only assuming she lied? This is some shit man. Are you drunk?
She claimed things that were, in fact, not true.
Ohio State did the right thing. If they found incriminating evidence against Urban, they would’ve fired him. They aren’t soft on this shit historically. They were gonna can Tress, an elite coach and national champion, for something that wasn’t a big deal.
But they didnt find enough. You can hate Urban and think he did something worth losing his job over, but a pretty deep investigation didn’t find evidence to merit anything close to that.
If you want to be an asshole and make stupid assumptions and statements like “urban doesn’t care about domestic violence”, then I guess you’re allowed to do that. Reasonable people wouldn’t do that.
What if someone that’s basically a family member to you comes up to you and says “she’s making it up” ? Urban confronted Smith in 2015, and this might’ve been a dilemma he faced. We don’t know.
Theres so much we don’t know, and you can’t fire a guy and ruin his career on assumptions.
Personally, I wouldn't have given him a job. But I've also never been a situation where someone, who is essentially a family member to me, came to me defiantly denied wrongdoing like Smith did.
I have never said Urban handled this well by the way. I think he deserved punishment of some sort. But I'm not going to play into some bullshit narrative like,
"Urban Meyer doesn't care about domestic violence and went out of his way to protect a convicted criminal for the sake of winning football games."
I'm also not going to play into the media narrative of
"Ohio State doesn't care about relationship abuse and just wants to win football games."
Let the law and evidence decide what the punishment is. The court of public opinion NEVER should. People are always going to doubt the media, because the media has a history of adding to stories that don't need added to.
