yes, your post is more certainly pessimistic, :). What I do KNOW? all due respect ,k , ? Is society NEEDS the educated to keep fighting. NO? Please, forgive me, haven't lived a day in your shoes, ...cheers.

I am sure we are dealing with different populations. Folks don't usually seek out the help of a developmental psychologist unless something is "wrong."

But, then again, the trends I listed in my post are based on what the literature shows and not just my own anecdotal observations. And don't worry, I would have thrown in the towel long ago if I didn't feel was making a difference. I did have to back off my heavy involvement in the inner city work I was doing. There is a heavy emotional toll which comes with that kind of work.

Nothing to forgive as we don't have to walk in each others' shoes in order to identify and empathize with our different experiences. One need which I have emphasized throughout my career is the need for professionals from various fields/disciplines to share their knowledge with each other. Regrettably, PhD all too often means a mile deep understanding of an inch wide topic. There is a huge hole when it comes to cross pollination of relevant knowledge within a field. The hole is even larger when we look at how little pollination takes place between fields. Thankfully some of that is beginning to happen regarding the study of children.

Appreciate the dialogue.

[ pop star decides she doesn't want to be bisexual any more, that she did it because she was young and naive, guess she wasn't born that way, huh ]

[h=1]Jessie J says her bisexuality was a phase. What a shame[/h] Hearts sank when the singer dismissed her brave coming out as something she did when young and naive

Pop stars and celebrities can protest against their status as role models as much as they like but it's an unfortunately unavoidable part of being famous. This is why Jessie J stating that her bisexuality was just a phase feels like such a loss for young gay or questioning people who look up to her.
Ambiguous sexuality has long been a selling point for pop stars, David Bowie being the most obvious example. However, Jessie J didn't foster a studied ambiguity about her sexual preferences but instead openly came out as bisexual. I would never deny Jessie J, or anyone else, the right to define themselves, identify with whatever sexuality they want or reject labels altogether. However, since she so publicly and boldly came out as having had relationships with both men and women, it feels all the more disappointing.
To have such a strong, female, bisexual role model speak in a way that clearly distances herself from her bi and gay fans is a big letdown. Jessie J's assertion that she wants to "stop talking about it completely" is directed at a media fond of asking her questions about her sexuality, but however justified her frustration, the message to young women and men questioning their sexuality is that she's over it, she doesn't want it to be a part of her life anymore, it's something that she wants to move away from.
Many people couldn't understand why lesbians were so excited about Ellen Page coming out. "How is this news?" was a fairly common observation. It was news because the lack of female, gay role models for young women is astonishing. I get excited when I see a high-profile gay woman because I see myself in her; being successful, being accepted. Jessie J has described her relationships with women as a phase.
It's an unhelpful term as this is an idea that gay people find themselves constantly battling against. Jessie J doesn't have to be bisexual if she no longer identifies that way. Who are we to dictate her sexuality or make her talk about it at all? But having already entered into a public discussion about it, to dismiss her previous brave coming out as something she did when she was young and naive, just "a part of growing up", is a real shame.
Jessie J remains a fantastic female role model, that hasn't changed. She is a breath of fresh air as a pop star, outspoken, bold and interesting. However, when she says she wants to move on from her declaration, the hearts of all those who saw it as an inspiring, hopeful moment will sink.

Good for you Jessie! Now you can travel to Zit's favorite nation, Uganda and not be imprisoned!

Actress Ellen Page came out at Time to Thrive, an LGBT youth conference. "I'm tired of hiding," she said onstage. "I'm tired of lying by omission."

Jerod Harris
"Well, in all honesty, when you talk about 'the gay community,' you are talking about MY community," the "Game of Thrones" actor confirmed when asked about his large following among "bears" during an interview with fan blog Winter Is Coming in March 2014.

Maulik Pancholy
The "30 Rock" actor came out in a November 2013 interview with Out magazine. "I just celebrated my nine-year anniversary with my partner," he said.

"It feels like a nice time to be celebrating something like that,"
Nineteen-year-old British Olympic diving bronze medalist Tom Daley revealed through a YouTube video that he's in a relationship with a man and has been since spring.

Once it was considered a potentially career-ending acknowledgment, but a growing number of celebrities have come out with relatively little fanfare.

I'm still waiting for them to discover the "gay gene"...or maybe the "tranny gene" (when pigs fly)....

Until then, it's 100% behaviour, which means it's controllable.

Not acting on every impulse or feeling (sexual or otherwise) is something well adjusted individuals learn to deal with in their teens and early twenties.

Yeah it's controllable alright. As controllable as 'retraining' a heterosexual guy that Roseanne Barr is a hot piece of ass and Scarlett Johansson is ugly.

Has nothing to do with 'retraining' and everything to do controlling one's emotions which, as I already mentioned, is what growing up is all about.

I know the cult of liberalism preaches perpetual adolescence and servitude to one's feelings, but that's a big reason society is going to shit.

This gay 'rights' BS would not flourish in a normal, healthy self-sufficient society. It would be shunned upon and marginalized like every culture, religion and country has done throughout history.

Sticking your dick into another man's anus is just as revolting as sticking your dick into an animal, which is the instinctive, natural reaction by anyone who hasn't been brainwashed by all the propaganda.

We will never agree guys. I don't think gays are sick. I think people who won't let gays live as they are NATURALLY INCLINED are the ones with an issue. Now with that said I respectfully request you two quit trying to double-team me :)

"NATURALLY INCLINED" face)(*^%

So giving into every urge is a good thing?

Here, let me put this in proper context:

I see someone who's mentally retarded.

You see someone "just as normal as everyone else"

You think *I'M* the problem because I won't conform to a brainwashed politically-correct view.

Maybe I need sensitivity training? :ok:

You are seriously warped dude. You compare a gay person to a pedo, a retard and an animal fucker when it's probably more comparable to something normal, like being born right-handed or left-handed. But hey, maybe we can 'Fix' Tim Lincecum so in his next start he throws a no-hitter left-handed. Yeah, it's about "controlling your emotions" huh? Wow. Tell me again Joe why you'd rather fuck Roseanne Barr than Scarjo. Don't forget to control your emotions.

Hey Zit, the girl in my avatar only likes Anal. Would you fuck her in the ass? Or is it unnatural?

Right-handed people throw up at the sight of left-handed people?

Well, at least right-handed AND left-handed people can procreate. Gays, not so much. Apparently, Mother Nature never attended a pride parade. And so Adam and Steve found themselves in the sewer swimming around with all the other sexual deviants.

Now Adam and Steve demand the same 'rights' as the traditional nuclear family...how delusional AND sick is that!

Scott, you and I both know being in the gay lifestyle is not like being born left-handed.

I'm with Scott on this, to me it seems most gays don't wont to be gay. They just are, the ones that try so hard to hide it by covering it up by getting married and having kids and coming out years later after they can't take it anymore. Do you really think they chose that lifestyle? The ones that try and go to church and pray to be straight yet god never saves them, come on think about

Um, they don't have to be gay.

Again, conflating desire/feelings/urges with actions/behavior.

It's perfectly normal for an adult male to get a boner from a hot teen chick in tight jeans walking down the street. It's NOT okay to act out those urges, no matter how strong and real those desires may be.

The truth is, no matter how many 'laws' they pass forcing everyone to conform and say all the right PC things, no matter how much they pervert school curricula, no matter how much they shove this fantasy sanitized Hollywood crap down our throats, gay behavior will NEVER be considered healthy and socially acceptable.

All you have to do is head down to your local 'gay' district, or San Francisco or New York (modern Sodom and Gomorrahs) for a pride parade, and you'll be exposed to reality: heavy doses of sado-masochism; profanity and vulgarity, much of it in a disturbing angry tone; graphic homosexual sex with condoms and lube almost everywhere; gay diseases; hatred of religion, especially Christianity; gross perversions like cross-dressing and transsexual body mutilations etc.

Gay 'rights' is yet another example of radicals and the out-of-touch ruling class socially-engineering a country for the lowest common denominator, instead of allowing things to run their course.

There are some straight guys and gay girls that probably agree with that. That's the whole point. What turns one on is what turns one on. It's not a controllable behavior.

I didnt choose to be straight, it's what I am. I'm sure being gay is the same, they didn't choose that.
