What about him? He had his best year for the pennant winning but series losing 86 Red Sox but Ray Knight was MVP of that series.

PBR - yes the 1951 New York Giants...

So far all nopes on the All Star Game Homer question and natrually pitchers do not count in the all star game home run question.

I should have added he was an everyday position player who had over 400 at bats for his team that year and didn't hit a homer...But smacked one in the All Star Game...

This is one of them thread ender trivia questions.

Merry Christmas to all my Baseball Trivia pals.

We got the best baseball trivia of any forum going here. Nothing lame or to easy but nothing unanswerable either like who was the batboy for the 1881 Red Stockings?.

Mickey Owen is correctamundo -- nice job answering a pretty tough trivia question.

Mickey Owen for the 1942 Dodgers in 421 at bats had no homers.
In the All-Star Game at the Polo Grounds on July 6, Owen pinch-hit
for pitcher Claude Passeau in the eighth inning and homered into the
left field stands against Detroit’s Al Benton, accounting for the National League’s lone run in their 3-1 loss.

I am going to take a break been posting for 12 hours.

I will leave you with this:

Who is the only player to get 500 hits with four different teams?

and

Who is the only pitcher to hit two home runs during an opening day game in the history of baseball.?

I will be back in a couple of hours to see if anyone gets them.

Later, wilski...

Excellent. Now for my very favorite Ted Williams question:

Julio Franco is the only active player that's faced a pitcher that pitched to Ted Williams? Who was that pitcher?

Phil Neikro, Gaylord Perry or Wilbur Wood is my guess. Good question.

All nopes...

Hint - in Baseball Hall of Fame and was a pitcher his whole career (unlike Babe Ruth).

At first thought the question was asking about a multi-homer game on opening day, but looks like Drysdale is the only one in the Hall-of-Fame to hit homeruns on two different opening days in 1959 and 1965

What is the only team that during the course of 1 season scored over 400 runs more than its opponents. I think it was the greatest team of all time.
