I base my opinions of 5dimes on my experiences. Although I read numerous negative reports regarding Tony, I have no opinion of him as I've never dealt with him directly. I do have an opinion on 5dimes and I will never use them again due to fraudulent credit card purchases on cards I used on their site. They clearly have corruption with the processors they use and don't seem to be too concerned with it. The final straw was when I got a card that I only used with their site and had a fraudulent issues within weeks of the transaction.

thats exactly why they tried to have him extradited. His ex who I mentioned earlier who used to live a few miles from me received around 700K in gift cards, gold coins, etc. she now lives in Pitt and I would think has problems with them. But CR had no intentions of extraditing him. All of that was finding a way to transfer money to players as well as to friends/family derived from sports betting. A legal activity in CR.

this just got real....

any pic's of the wife....

There’s another one I found of him some years ago, from what I’ve been told. Although talking and chatting with him numerous times over the years and having numerous mutual acquaintances I had never met him. Here’s a link.

they had a breach at that time and have taken extra security measures since then to make sure that never happens again. From what I was told. I never used a credit card because of that reason

I wasn't sure. Some of my friends knew him personally but was 20 years ago and two of them said that it looked like him. Although if you look at the photo posted of him leaving the office and the photo in the link the shape of the face looks the same.

there are only a handful of articles on the situation. One I just read was questioning why the CR authorities seemed to be moving so slow on this. He was kidnapped a month ago and just found his body this weekend. It seems like the ex-fbi agents have done most of the work there. The first thing that entered my mind, as I've posted here, and from my experience living in SA, is that there's a good chance that police were involved, either directly or indirectly, that would explain the slow progress. It's also been mentioned that he left with two security guards, one that worked in the 5dimes building. That makes sense to me also. Once again in my experience many times the people being paid to protect your property and person are the people that are involved. The local security guard who sat on the corner of my street and collected money from everyone in the neighborhood was in on my house robbery. One of my friend's family's bodyguards was involved in his kidnapping, the one that was eventually released.

This story is intriguing to me as well, especially since he's been a sports betting legend here where I live since the 1990's. It must've been funny to him when we spoke on the phone, me being in South America and him in CR at the time, and him seeing my US driver's license and knowing that I was from the place where he spent his last years in the US and was from 20 miles up the road. It's amazing to me that we never met here as we ran in the same circles. He always treated me fair and from others I know personally that had accounts there he treated them fair also. It irks me a little seeing some slander him. I'm aware that 5dimes had some card fraud issues but I'd bet it was with their processor and not with people working directly at 5dimes and if it was I'd bet they lost their jobs.

He was as good ole WV boy who had a knack for gambling and turned it into a multi-million dollar business. The last article I read stated how no one could tell that he was worth a lot of money. Typically wore bermudas a T-shirt and sandals. He didnt deserve this. And his kids certainly didn't.

I think it's probably best for everyone to stay out of this situation. Could be dangerous/lead to problems

Creighton and his wife have been targets of U.S. investigations because of 5Dimes’ sports betting activities. In 2016, an investigation by the Department of Homeland Security concluded that 5Dimes devised a mechanism to collect from and reward gamblers living in the United States with Amazon gift cards.

The government does not like competition. I have seen this play out on state levels as well. They want to make people out to be criminals for things they want to take over. State lotteries, live poker games, machines, etc etc. You and I can’t do it, it’s bad we are criminals. But let the state get a fat chunk of the money and let them run it and all the sudden it becomes morally ok and on the up and up. Nothing to see here folks.

I hear that Justin, it's a safe bet that this thread and others on other sports forums are being read by authorities here and in CR.

But I don't do anything wrong. They've legalized sports gambling where I am, lol.

Truer words were never spoken.

And not only that but when the state or fed does take over it's always worse for the players.

Back in the day when the numbers were illegal the locals paid 600-1 on the three digit number, state takes it over and it's 500-1 and if you win more than 1200 you pay tax.

It's not enough that in the long run less than 1% come out to be a winner if you consistently gamble, but in the rare instances that you do make a profit in a year they want half.

If you win the gov't takes their cut, and if you lose they get it on the other end. They don't lose.

where is this pic of Tony floating around? Can someone post in here? I'd like to put a face with the voice.

This is shitty and won't help with tourism in CR.
