WOW
I have heard more good stories than bad stories about him. But I always take the bad ones with a grain of salt.

I read somewhere they sent bitcoin to a bank to pay for ransom, that makes absolutely no sense

Im sure all the bitcoin stuff is all made up .
Especilly the bank part .
you can’t wire bitcoin to a bank
can’t be done .

and bitcoin is not anonymous

how do you know?

spent 13 years in LatAm. One friend was in a hole for 45 days, he got out alive, another was killed. 13 guys were responsible for my buddy who got out alive, 12 of them ended up dead, go figure.

Their intentions are kind of obvious, they got paid and killed him anyway. Do you think he died accidentally??

was just curious that's all as you seemed confident in your statement. Your decision is based on personal experience and you feel this situation would mimic the past. Pity Tony sent the BTC, guess he felt this would be one of the 'rare' situations..

their intentions are obvious? They wanted money, this was clear.

It is based on personal experience. Law enforcement works in the US there are repercussions. Not so much in LatAm. Typically the only way you incur consequences there is if you leave a witness, ie the hostage. The asking of ransom could possibly be a front. Smart money has his costa rican wife involved. Early reports are that she transferred it to a relatives bank account in Cuba.

Latest report...

Creighton’s wife allegedly received a ransom phone call on the night of the 24th, asking for a $750,000 ransom payment, to be paid in bitcoin (virtual currency), and sent to a Cuban bank. Some sources reported the actual sum was $1 million.Diario Extra reported that Creighton’s wife and family agreed to pay, and transferred the money to Cuba on the night of September 24.
Creighton’s family had immediately hired two former FBI agents to help locate him, and assist in his return to his family and to his business. Those FBI agents apparently were involved in a kerfuffle with the OIJ after purchasing firearms in Costa Rica without OIJ’s approval. Nonetheless, the former FBI agents were very instrumental in getting to the bottom of the abduction and ransom of William Sean Creighton.
Today Creighton’s body was found, and as per our sources the strong suspicion is that he was a victim of a kidnap- for- hire scheme hatched by someone very close to him. Cause of death is yet to be established. Creighton’s wife allegedly had the ransom money wired to a family member of hers, reportedly the lesser $750,000 request.
The OIJ will be investigating further, and report their conclusions in the coming week. Fellow sportsbook operation owners in Costa Rica have expressed their sadness and regret at Creighton’s tragic death.

Sean was born and raised a few miles up the road from me and spent his college days in the town I’m from and live today. He became famous consistently beating all the local bookies, eventually no one would take his action. He rented off of one of my best friends. I had a sports forum from the early 2000’s until a few years ago and 5 dimes was an affiliate. Spoke to him dozens of times while living in South America only to find out later that “Tony” was really Sean that lived in the same town as me and we knew many of the same people. He was always fair with me and one of if not the sharpest line maker’s in the industry. After spending a quarter of my life in Latin America it’s a real shame that smart money has it that those closest to him we’re involved and wouldn’t surprise me if authorities are directly or indirectly complicit. Odds are whoever is responsible will never be brought to justice unless the highest levels of the US govt would get involved. Which more than likely won’t happen since they wanted him in jail. Real shame. Seemed to be a nice guy. If you’re a gringo with money in Latin America youve got a bullseye on your back and need to know when it’s time to cash in your chips and get out.

I have a friend that was a real estate developer in CR. He was "arrested" and spent over a year in jail. They took everything he had. The initially put him in a shit-hole prison, hoping he'd break. They offered for him to sign over all of his assets and leave the country....but he refused. He eventually spent every dollar he had and got the US gov't involved and was released. He can't go back there every again and lost every penny he had. He originally developed a very successful boutique hotel in San Juan and then bought a bunch of land near the ocean, and built a development w/ lots. That's when they moved in on him. His story is unreal listening to. So much corruption. Everyone from his bartenders at the hotel to the local police to local politicians were involved.

Very sad to hear .... so Young

I don't have any facts, but I find it very strange that he was without his bodyguards .... so My OPINION is there was some kind of inside job

Time Spent there I can tell you for sure most anyone with Money had some kind of protection, including where you live.
and you still have to watch your back.

Prayers go out to Tony and his Family
