I tend to agree with Christian above. Any one individual who wants to buy a machine gun is either expecting the army to take their stuff, or is a mental case.

Here's a question for the right-wing pro-gun folks: if the right to bear arms is based largely on your right to be ready for a revolution should your gov't get out of line, then why do you simultaneously support the rise of a military that even the military of a foreign nation couldn't keep at bay, never mind your citizenry? I never did quite understand that.

Good luck. And why do you hate guns so much?

Because she's Canadian. We've been told guns are "American" and very, very, very violent and bad things. Firearms are "unprogressive" after all.

You so sure of that. Fair- like when they boo'ed our national anthem before hockey games.

I think that was a delayed response to when you guys hung our flag upside down in the world series.

Don't answer for me, if you don't mind.

I don't like guns because they are built specifically to kill/injure people. And plenty of Americans don't like them, either, nor would want them in their house.

Sorry to get off-topic, but do you think they should be banned? You can answer here or bump that old thread.

X: That's fine. You are entitled to your opinion. But I don't agree that they are built specifically to kill/injure people, some are like automatic weapons. But why should I not be allowed to own a gun because some people don't like them? This is the way a lot of anti-gun people think.

No. Just because I don't like something, doesn't mean I expect everyone else to share my opinion. However, guns will never be allowed in my home.

You are allowed to own a gun. I don't want one, but you go right ahead.

No, it wasn't what you said. Even if it was, don't answer for me.

chiefssth, they don't teach wisdom and truisms in Canada, such as, "guns don't kill people, people do." So it's easy to see how this brain fart of moral relativism also permeates Canadian conventional wisdom, when it comes to foreign policy.

Which is what, Joe? "Militaries don't kill people, their tyrannical leaders do"????

That's right, Peaches.

The United Nations was born in the hope that survived a world war -- the hope of a world moving toward justice, escaping old patterns of conflict and fear. The founding members resolved that the peace of the world must never again be destroyed by the will and wickedness of any man. We created the United Nations Security Council, so that, unlike the League of Nations, our deliberations would be more than talk, our resolutions would be more than wishes. After generations of deceitful dictators and broken treaties and squandered lives, we dedicated ourselves to standards of human dignity shared by all, and to a system of security defended by all.
-- President George W. Bush

Oh well.

In England, the police don't carry guns. (England being one of those utopian 'progressive' gunless societies with record low crime, as you know.) So when a crime is commited, the police simply say, "Stop...Or I'll say stop, again..."

Sorry to blow out your candles for you on your birthday X. I was just trying to take a cheap shot because Wil said you were "The New Sheriff" yet I remembered in our gun thread ya didn't like guns. So I thought it was interesting to have a Sheriff without a gun. Even Barney Phife had a gun ;)

I will bump the gun thread.

BDiz..
