I want to welcone Xpanda as the new (and badly needed) Politics, Governments, and World Events Forum Moderator. I know she will moderate with a fair and even style that can only make this forum more enjoyable to all of you.

First female mod at rx? Xpanda's first order of duty is ban the use of history and change it to herstory. Every other masculine word must also be feminized.

I have some ideas for how to handle Doc et al.

First, I'm not a fan of censoring speech, so you'll have to be pretty nasty to make me delete anything.

And I think we all mostly agree that it's not fair to create thread and post limits for everyone because we have a single problem spammer.

So, absent banning posters for spamming, here's what I'm thinking:

Posters routinely spamming end up in the Dog House. To get there, a majority of posters in this forum (50% +1) must put you there. Once there, you are limited to 5 threads a day, 20 posts a day. The forum will vote to let you out of the dog house, once a week for as long as you're in there.

Thoughts?

Uh oh. Next to Karl Rove or Tom Delay, they couldn't have made a worse selection, if you're Doc.

while I don't agree with her on many political issues, she is no doubt a very fair-minded individual, who is respectful of other' views and opinions...Great Job Wil!

Where's the Midol when you need it - and I think doc will be needing it!

Congrats X - I know you'll do a good job even if you don't have your ideological head screwed on straight - and thanks for taking on this thankless task

You be da (wo) man! :homer:

I had only read the comments, not looked at the polling results (I didn't vote.)

The votes indicate that people would like to see thread limit for everyone, equally applied. I can say with some degree of confidence that limiting threads and posts to everyone in here would be:

a. a bad business move for the Rx.
b. really, really hard to moderate. The VBulletin software does not allow for placing thread limits in a specific forum.

I would like to find a way to limit this to certain posters, but not on a permanent basis. This seems fairest to me.

I'll start a new thread reiterating my proposal and everyone can vote on it.

If the forum must have a mod, x is the right choice.

Stand up tall and jerk a big stick, as you are now commander and chief, you must defend this forum from spam.

I think Tony Snow was very disappointed not to have gotten this job (Polit Mod) so has settled for Pres Sec. which isn't too shabby either....

good choice Wil,
