Jazz,
The supports of war have constantly labels oppositions are "bitter over the election" or "saying the war is over oil". I see these arguements <1% of the time. I think the real problem is the manner in which Bush conducts himself that concers us. He has effectively destroyed any chance of a diplomatic resolution - perhaps war was inevitable, but we'll never know with this approach. He is ruining what little positive foreign policies we had. He is spending billions upon billions upon billion on war that he has yet to offer undisputable evidence of a direct correlation between 9/11 & Iraq. He is transforming the manner of US military actions with these "pre-emptive" and "strike first" war theories.
For the millionth time I will state - I hate the reign of Saddam, he is a horrible man, & he should be ousted .... but anyone that cannot see the hypocracy in Bush cutting off medical aid, yet insisting that he is helping the Iraqi people. Let's be perfectly honest here, Bush doesn't give a DAMN about the Iraqi people ... I'm not saying it's his duty to & I'm not implying it's the duty of America to offer medical aid, but I DO HAVE A PROBLEM WITH AN ADMINISTRATION THAT DEVICES IT'S CITIZENS. I had a problem with Clinton lying under oath, I had a problem with the Democrats in the NJ Senate Race, but I have an infinately larger problem with a president that engulfs himself in hypocrytical statements & pretends we're all too naive to notice. I don't like politics period, so save the "you're just mad because you lost" crapola for someone that was actually mad. Yes, I wanted Al Gore to win the election. No, I don't think Al Gore would have handled 9/11 as well as Bush. But, more importantly - I don't care what Gore could/would/should have done ... IT DOESN'T MATTER.
What does matter is truth. I feel we are being decieved into justify a war that may or may not be just. This is my problem, war is A LAST RESORT ... after all other avenues have been exhausted. Set a date now, 1441 & the past 10 years don't help us now. Set a date, work towards a peaceful resolution NOW ... no ifs, no ands, no buts .... if no continuous progress is made over months then we have ourselves an avoidable situation. Obviously, Iraq will not disarm with us bombing them as we speak ... I'm tired of this BS flowing out of Washington - time for truth.
