ANALYSIS

Let's back the road team in the first game of this series.

When the Brewers signed Jhoulys Chacin to a 2-year 15.5 million dollar deal in the offseason, they ended up getting the bargain of a lifetime.

Chacin has gone out and gone 6-0 with a 2.66 ERA over his last 12 starts while his team has gone 12-3 in his starts overall.

I love the way he is pitching and I love the price we are getting with him tonight.

The Pirates counter with Trevor Williams, who at the moment can't get out of his own way.

He is 0-2 with a 8.57 ERA over his last 5 starts including a total of 8 runs against the Rockies on 6 hits in just 3 innings of the Pirates 13-8 loss.

All things considered, I have a hot pitcher with a hot team behind him when he pitches at a great price.

Let's begin this new week with a winner.

Lose a run line play 1-0 because my offense can't hit. Lose a 5-3 lead courtesy of a blown save by my bullpen. Lose 1-0 because my offense can't hit.

A slump? Absolutely. A losing week? Absolutely. Disappointed? Absolutely.

However, haven't had many here in 2018 and to say this is very important bounce back week could be the understatement of the year.

Pretty much this entire year I have followed up a losing week with a winning week and once again I find myself in position to do that starting with tonight.

I am about to close the month of June on the same kind of run. Just you watch.

The Detroit Tigers minus Miguel Cabrera, their highest and best player, out for the year with the torn bicep, is battling hard.

They find themselves at 36-37 and a chance to get even against the Reds.

To do it, Mathew Boyd has got to stay hot.

At 4-4, has been solid in this current Tigers run winning his last 2 starts pushing his ERA down to 3.23 for the year.

Even hotter for the Tigers is their bullpen, which has given up just 1 run in their last 17 1/3 innings.

The Reds counter with Sal Romano at 3-7 on the year, is now 9-18 with an ERA close to 6 going back to last year.

Romano had lost 4 straight before his best outing of the season last time out beating the Royals holding them to 1 run on 4 hits in 8 innings.

All things considered, I like the Tigers to draw first blood in this series.

Just going to keep grinding.

Not even close with Mathew Boyd who gets destroyed by the Reds and the Tigers get drilled 9-5.

As I said yesterday, a bit cold right now and all I can do is continue to battle and based on the numbers below, it will turn. End of story.

Well made it 5 straight winning days as 20 dime winner #4 in a row delivers as Sale and Gonzales do their job and the Mariners and Red Sox stay under on Sunday.

The journey for winning week #2 in a row and 19 of 25 in 2018 starts today.

When you load the bases in the 1st inning and don't score against a rookie pitcher you just know it's going to come back to haunt you and it sure as hell did.

Put winning day #6 in a row in the hands of the Dodgers -1 1/2 runs and they just couldn't get seperation against the Cubs setting the table for more closer drama.
