I still do not understand the offside penalty in NHL

puck must beat you and your teamates into the other teams offensive zone, past their blueline. If either you or your teamates beat the puck in, you're offside. It's not a penalty, it just blows the play dead and a face off called.

I believe the nba is the only sport where you are about to lose the ball,( falling out of bounds) and you can call a to, and keep the ball...bizarre

Or how about 5 timeouts in the last 60 seconds, that's real entertainment

so far in two games, we have seen paid professionals officially lay down and give up on the game. I have not seen this type of behavior in hockey. The nba is a sham and a disgrace to the game of basketball.

Total BS. If you are a 7-footer and have one bit of coordination, you are drafted. You cannot coach size. No different than a lefty pitcher.

i live in mn the state of hockey or they say. know all about the game.

the game is shit to watch, playing it is ok. i know all about hockey, used to be a rink attendant when i was 16-17, overseeing the hockey kids and parents on the ice.

the game is inferior to basketball, which is why they use ice to try to make it seem more unique, when it really isnt. take the ice sheet off and you got boot hockey essentially.

game takes little skill to play and nobody cares about it outside of winter areas.

I feel a little dumber with every post I read of yours. Funny that Hockey was around before basketball, you can look it up. I don't care if one person likes it outside of the north. I live in the north, grew up watching and playing it. It is a Canadian game anyways, it expanded to the US. How come the NBA doesn't do squat in Canada? Are the Canadians smarter? Maybe.

NHL hockey players, many from small towns in Canada, play to win hockey games every night.

NBA basektball players, many from American urban centers, put forth effort on rare occasions.

The NHL is more exciting to watch because of this difference.

If you want to read race into this, go right ahead.

the point is, you dont get to there level and make millions by not putting in the effort.

and yes i do read race into the lazy and dumb card brought up by some on here. how the hell can you tell anyways if someone is hustling.

if you thought that way, youd think brandon roy was a lazy bum to based on the way he plays. thats why i always called that lazy angle pointless and stupid because its impossible to judge, and im sure there are plenty of nhlers dogging it as well.

i dont want to get into that anyways, like i said dumb argument.

Hockey is boring! All they do is beat the shit out of each other for no reason
and your lucky if they score more goals then you can count on one hand.
NCAA basketball is the best sport.

Ncaa Basketball is good but the rest of your statement is worthless, hockey is better than the NBA especially in person and their playoffs rule:smoking:

How many NHL'ers drink Hennessey between periods? I know one NBA player who did during halftime.

Yeah, sure, there are some NBA players who play hard, but in basketball it is way easier to "dog it" than it is in hockey. In hockey, you are only on the ice for 45 seconds to a minute at a time, and you would stand out like a sore thumb if you were dogging it. Plus, the culture of the hockey locker room would get you ostracized immediately if you didn't play hard.

Players in the NBA have no reason to play hard. They know what happens, if you don't play in LA, you aren't going to get fouls called in your favor or unless your name is D Wade or Lebron, than the rules of the game, say traveling for example do not apply.

I love the game of Basketball, still play at the gym as often as I can, but anyone who actually thinks that the NBA is anything more than a revenue generating scam on the average idiot, is an idiot themselves.

Since 1980, the LA Lakers, have played in the NBA Finals, 15 out of 30 times.

The NBA can't live without the Lakers. You really think anyone else would have traded Pau Gasol for a bag of practice balls to Los Angeles, if it weren't for Jerry West and David Stern orchastrating that. You think it was an accident that the Lakers shot 33 FTs in the 4th quarter vs the Sac Kings?

What I have hard time understanding, is why do idiots like GTC08, think that the NBA is not a Business, unlike any other.

Also, Hockey, doesn't take skill? OK, any other brillant ideas you wish to share?

Hockey takes no skill? LMAO.

I can go participate in a Laker's practice, without any real fear of getting hurt. How many of you guys could survive a Flyer's practiceor scrimmage.
The word "concussed" comes to mind.

I used to work with a guy who played club hockey in LA. His team was able to play an exhibition game after the Kings played (this was in the Forum). It looked like they were skating in mud compared to the speed and athleticism of the NHL players.

NHL players are much, much faster and stronger than your club player. It takes a lot of skill to play in the NHL. People just don't realize the skill it takes since they don't understand the basic play of hockey.
