Today, looking for teams:

  • that can get or help to get home ice advantage with a win
  • that are at home against a road team that does not givashit, preferably that are on the upswing despite being out of the playoffs
  • that are playing a playoff team that is definitely resting players (especially goalies)
  • when in doubt, take home team in any meaningless game...

first glance:

  • Blues in home ice fight today at home vs Canucks
  • Nashville in home ice fight play Hawks coming off last nights win
  • NYI can help their situation @ Washington
  • Detroit is at home and has been playing well, tonight faltering Buffalo visits
  • Winnipeg is in 3 way fight with Blues and Predators, by the time they play they will know the Blues outcome and most of the Predators game
  • Carolina clinched and are on the road but Philly hard to back
  • Columbus clinched last night now travels to goddam Ottawa, they might not show up
  • Colorado clinched Thurs, travels to SJ

Hard to know, these are all pros, some will play hard to the end, but there should be some opportunities... not interested in TB/Boston early game, let me know your thoughts.

GL!

The Detroit line -113 at Pinnacle looks fishy. I'd have expected upwards of -150 based on recent play where Detroit has been on fire & the Sabres have sucked, plus Detroit being at home. Pinnacle had -120 overnight before it dropped to the present -113. Yet I'm seeing a high percentage of bets (61%, 71%) on the home team. One preview i read said the teams have identical records & the winner will gain 6th place. The loser will gain a better lottery position, or some such thing. It also said Buffalo had won 2 of 3 meetings this year, though Detroit won the most recent game in Buffalo on March 28.

Another pick i was considering was the over 6 total in the Florida/NJ matchup. Last i checked the Pinnacle line had gone from -120 to -126.

Added Detroit, Ottawa, and Nashville, all -1.5, all small/medium plays.

  • Detroit on a roll (8-2) ending the season at home, coach extended, some enthusiasm for next year, Buffalo (2-7) sluggish want to get out, go home and pack.

  • Ottawa playing a bit better lately, Columbus back to back just clinched WC last night, possible huge letdown.

  • Nashville can win division if they get this one, Chicago back to back on the road, season over though they have shown some life lately.

Might play a late game or two, Winnipeg will be interested in the outcome of Blues & Nashville... and Colorado probably not too interested tonight @ SJ especially if Dallas wins... Avalanche just clinched wildcard.

are we going big on TB ?

They are only -130 @ Columbus tomorrow.

I do not think TB is merely taking Columbus lightly, two games in a row.

It is playoff hockey and sometimes dynamics change, dramatically.

It is hockey stuff, Columbus is playing them well, stopping them... this is not situational or motivation. TB cannot score. The Columbus defense is stuffing TB, at mid ice, I do I do not know if TB will be able to get going.

At this point I cannot support going with TB, BIG. Or maybe, even at all.

Something has changed that I (we?) do not understand.

At this point for me, pass tomorrow; BUT might go small or take them small @ -1.5 or even -2.5 in case they CAN get going back to their season's form.

(this thread was started looking at end of season motivation both ways, now we are in the playoffs, a bit different)

And now for Game 3, Kucherov is lost. So down 0-2 they are on the road and losing their top scorer who had 41 goals and 87 assists this season. They have buried themselves in a bit of a hole.

Yep that hurts them, too. They might even collapse when behind.
