Not here to say H.S is good or bad...But I can tell you that you can find the exact same thing in your Public schools today. Infact the kids that are like that in Public schools are left behind in most cases.

Our public school system totally sucks, I have 3 kids and none of
them will ever take a step in public schools until college.

They're not home-schooled (private school) but I know plenty
of home schooled kids who are very well adjusted, and would smoke
90+% of public shool kids their age in every subject.

BTW, My wife taught in the public schools for many years,
so I know what I'm taking about.

She spent most of her time dealing with discipline problems, and
asshole kids with their asshole parents - which left very little time
to teach.

First off, simmer down. I'm sure your dad-of-the-year mug is not in jeopardy here. No where did I say that "all" home schooled kids are inept. You've taken a big leap into a logical fallacy.

Secondly, my subject said "home schooling takes a hit". Not that home schooling sucks or is worse than public schools or anything. Was merely commenting on perceptions.

This kid is socially retarded (and a bit of a dick actually) and the point was inferred to the viewer that part of his success was as a result of him being home schooled.

A widely held belief (right or wrong) about home schooling is that it creates kids that, while excelling above the curve academically, are socially awkward or even inept. This kid did nothing to dispel that belief.

Furthermore, the purpose for your post as you stated it, was to provide
arguments against home-schooling - though you worded it poorly.

I think home-schoolers take a bad rap, and your post was more

You used the flawed logic - not me. The fact is, the kid did NOTHING but feed the notion that home schooled kids become social misfits. (Whether it's true or not)

No where did I say "thus" or "all" which are logical components. (Whether you posed it as a question or not.)

You read too deep into my post. I said if you ever wanted to provide an example for the common held belief then this would be a good video to use --- and it is.

He was on Jimmy Kimmel the other night, and he was HORRIBLE

Jimmy couldn't stop laughing at the kid

He's like "during the spelling bee you have a few mins to answer, on my show we really don't have that much time"

I hate to be superficial, but if you look at this kids mom...there would be no doubt why he turned out this way

He probably spends 10 hours a day studying the dictionary and NEVER socializes. I'd rather my kid not be SO smart, but be a lot more functional in the real world
