Wyoming: The Cowboys return 17 starters including 8 from a defense that ranked ninth
nationally in scoring defense, giving up just 17.5 points per game. All-American candidate
Andrew Wingard, an elite safety, leads the defense. He is joined by defensive lineman Carl
Granderson, an athletic playmaker who is very disruptive up front. The offense has nowhere
to go but up as the unit struggled last year. As bad as the offense was during 2017, they
did rank No. 1 in turnover margin. New quarterback Tyler Waal is slated to run what is hope-
fully an improved unit. Thanks to a potent defense and manageable schedule, Wyoming
should earn a bowl bid. Anything more than that will hinge on the offense ability to improve
and the defense continuing to play at an elite level.

@New Mexico State.....Washington State.....@Missouri.....Wofford.....Boise State.....@Hawaii.....
@Fresno State.....Utah State.....@Colorado State.....San Jose State.....Air Force.....@New Mexico

Sidenote: Wyoming led all FBS teams in turnover margin and turnovers gained last season.

Sidenote: Wyoming is 7-0 against the spread before playing Fresno State. (@Hawaii, Oct. 6)

Speaking of amazing stats, how about a few from the Pac 12:

Arizona is 0-8 after UCLA. (Oregon).
Arizona State is 0-8 on Weekdays (Stanford, 10/18).
Cal is 0-5 after USC (Stanford)
Colorado is 0-6 after a week off (UCLA)
Oregon is 1-7 before Utah (UCLA)
Oregon State is 0-5 after Stanford (@Washington)
Stanford 0-7 as Home Favorites with revenge (USC)
UCLA 1-10 before Arizona (@ Cal)
USC 0-5 before Washington State (@Texas)
Utah 0-5 after Arizona (USC)
Washington 7-0 before Oregon (@UCLA)
Washington State 5-0 before Utah (@USC) 0-4 weekday Away Game (@USC)

And the craziest of them all: Arizona State. 0-10 as 1 or more point dogs in 2nd of back to back away games (@Washington) ASU 12-0 in their last 12 games vs Washington. Good luck with that one.

Missouri: Coach Barry Odom should get some praise for his in-season turnaround last
fall, though it came with an asterisk: Missouri went 7-0 against teams with losing records
or opponents from the FCS and 0-6 against bowl teams. Let's not forget Odom was viewed
as a candidate to lose his job just midway into last season, his second with the Tigers. The
bowl game gave him a bump, as did quarterback Drew Lock's decision to return for his
senior season. Lock led the FBS with 44 TD passes last year and welcomes back his entire
starting offensive line. With 16 returning starters and expectations running high, a finish
outside the top four in the SEC East would put Odom's job back in jeopardy.

UT Martin.....Wyoming.....@Purdue.....Georgia.....@South Carolina.....@Alabama.....Memphis
…..Kentucky.....@Florida.....Vanderbilt.....@Tennessee.....Arkansas

Sidenote: Missouri when playing at home off a double-digit loss is 18-4 against the spread.

Use caution. Ohio State is 0-2 ATS in the past two seasons after the Penn State game. In 2016, they defeated Northwestern by 4 as a 25 point favorite at home. Last season they were destroyed by Iowa, 55-24 as 20.5 point chalk in Iowa. That game cost them a playoff spot. Another thing to look for. Ohio State is 7-0 S/U against Indiana in their last 7 games, but 1-6 ATS in those 7 games. That is because of some real huge point spreads, none of which were under 19 points and only 1 under 20 points.

Clover, I do not see any point totals for USC or West Virginia.

As far as the ones I do see, I totally disagree with LSU and Va. Tech defeating the two ACC Florida Schools. If Miami cannot defeat a LSU team that has no offense, and if Florida State cannot defeat a Va. Tech team with no defense, at home, then the ACC is in major trouble. I also do not see Notre Dame losing by 10 points at home to a Michigan team that has under-achieved for the past 4 years. As far as Maryland defeating Texas is concerned, that is Phil Steele type predicting. Ridiculous.

Sorry about that. I've got too much going on today and didn't check over my post.

West Virginia (-9.5) 31 Tennessee 27
Southern Cal (-26.5) 48 UNLV 10

For what its worth, I'm playing Kentucky, Alabama and Texas week one out of this list.

Louisiana Tech: The Bulldogs have won four consecutive bowl games and are generally in
the mix for the C-USA division crown. After two straight nine win seasons, Louisiana Tech
slipped to a 7-6 record last year. Three of the losses were by one point. Looking forward,
15 starters return including quarterback J'Mar Smith (2,974 yds, 16 tds) who got better
as the 2017 progressed. He'll get help from top receiver Teddy Veal (74 catches, 950 yds)
and a loaded offensive line that features two all conference selections. The defense has
typically been good during coach Skip Holtz (Lou's son) tenure, but took a step back the
past two seasons. The defense will need to improve in order to extend the Bulldogs bowl
streak. Louisiana Tech plays just five home games and faces tough competition in the West
division, but they return enough experience and talent to battle for the league crown.

@South Alabama.....Southern.....@LSU.....@North Texas.....UAB.....@UTEP.....@FAU
…..@Mississippi State.....Rice.....@Southern Miss.....Western Kentucky

Sidenote: Louisiana Tech's Skip Holtz is 44-23-1 against the spread as a DOG in his career.

To piggy back off this, UNC has been crap in their first game against a P5 school under Fedora (0-6). 4 of those losses came in week 1, and all 4 were ATS losses as well. Currently 5.5 dogs @ Cal week 1. Cal beat them last year in NC as big dogs, and the score wasn’t as close as it looked. Cal has a bunch of guys back last year from a squad that lost a multiple close games. I’ll be on Cal week 1 this year.

With 10 players returning for the Cal offense, the Bears should be able to run up a big number against a rather unimpressive (to say the least) UNC defense.

Gus Malzahn joined Nick Saban in calling for a 9 conference game schedule to be played by the SEC. The SEC and ACC currently play 8 conference games, while the Big 10, Big 12, and Pac 12 play 9. Malzahn believes that a 9 game schedule would put more "equity" in the Conference. This may be prompted by the fact that Alabama's permanent crossover game is against Tennessee, while Auburn's is against Georgia.

Pooh, regarding your above post...……

As an SEC fan, I would love to see the league go to nine conference games. Alabama playing
teams like The Citadel this season among others is ridiculous. SEC fans have been sounding
off about some of the FCS teams being schedule...especially with the price of tickets. Hell, I
wouldn't drive to Tuscaloosa to watch The Citadel play if someone gave me free tickets. I'd
rather drive 45 minutes and watch North Alabama play.

North Carolina may be losing a number of players (rumor 9-13, not confirmed) for their opening game
with Cal because of players selling University issued shoes and athletic gear. Players involved could
face being suspended for one or more games. After last season's 3-9 record, coach Larry Fedora better
get a handle on this team fast or he will be looking for a new job next year. Depending on any/number
of starters involved...the books could take the Cal game off the board.

It is time to jump all over Cal, if you can get it. No Coke suggested that we take Cal now, and he certainly appears to be spot on with his assessment. It is time to grab Cal at -5 1/2 widely available in Vegas. Good call, gentlemen.

Ole Miss: The Rebels had the SEC's top passing offense and will attack defenses through the
air again in 2018. Receiver A.J. Brown is one of the best in the country. The 6-foot-1, 225 pound
junior totaled 75 catches, 1,252 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns during 2017. DK Metcal (39)
and DaMarcus Lodge (41) each caught seven touchdowns and averaged more than 16 yards a
reception. The trio joins quarterback Jordan Ta'amu's smooth transition into the quarterback
position. In part time duty last year, Ta'amu completed 66.5 percent of his passes for eleven
touchdowns and 4 interceptions. Four offensive line starters return in what should be one of the
top offenses in the Southeastern Conference. Ole Miss' defense has many more questions than
answers a season after allowing an average of 271 rushing yards during SEC play. Seven new
starters will need to be found by opening game day. Depth is a huge concern as Ole Miss must
replace the most players from last year's 2-deep roster than any team in the nation. Still, talent
is there, especially at receiver and on offense. A six win season and bowl game would be cause
for celebration.

Texas Tech (Houston)…..Southern Illinois.....Alabama.....Kent State.....@LSU.....Louisiana-Monroe
…..@Arkansas (Little Rock)…..Auburn.....South Carolina.....@Texas A&M.....@Vanderbilt.....Miss St.

Sidenote: Ole Miss is 14-3 against the spread in Game 6 of the season. (ULM visits as the game six
opponent this year)

Conference USA: One conference that never shy's away from playing challenging non-conference
competition is C-USA and this season is no exception. Conference USA will face at least one opponent
from each of the nine FBS conferences in 2018 and a total of 22 games are scheduled against teams
that played in a bowl game last season. The projected winner of this little conference is Florida Atlantic
and there's a lot of excitement down in Boca Raton surrounding the second year of the Lane Kiffin era.
