Fair enough VD, don't call me a 'hater' anymore and I won't call u an apologist okay ? Superstars I respect, sport ambassadors, folks blessed with sick skills AND character - they are out there: Federer , Lemieux , Gretzky , Graf
ur boy isn't one of them and u know it.
I sure don't have an argument over the last 15 years, Tiger is no doubt the best over that time..Having Tiger behind Jack all time, at this time, isn't a argument out of left field to a reasonable person.. as far as the penalty is concerned, I have stated, I have no problem with the penalty, to much grey area to argue it either side IMO
I was talking about this post. Just saying right now, the two are pretty much even.
I guess if your talking about pace, but then again Rory is on pace with Tiger right ? Tiger just needs to start winning majors again.. going to be tough though, alot of this current crop is trying to get theirs...
its a little more black and white with VD, either your on your knees along side Vonn or your a hater... no gray area here
It's clear with both Taylor and VD, but id like to give the latter the benefit of the doubt, he's older , wisdom. The other has the audacity to say he was 'joking ' about the GS comment , enough with him. In the end , it's all good - great to have heroes, helps many. Clarifies .
Yea, I suppose Rory is ahead of pace with a small sample size.......when Scott got Steve Williams to carry his bag, Adam Scott found his nuts. Before then, Scott never showed a lick of fire. Now the dude wants to win........And if Jason Day ever learns how to win, he is going to be tough for everybody to get by at Augusta. I think he played as well and prob better than everybody this week
I thought Day played the best too, surprised he didn't close the door..I expect both Day and Scott to have mulitple major titles.. Rory is going to get his sooner then later.. Snedekar will get at least 1 too.. His putter was a problem on Sunday which was surprising.. I think the door is closing on Westwood and Donald doesn't have the stones to get it done..He's not even a threat in my mind..
Not sure If I understand most of your post but will try and decipher.. That 67 # I was referring too was 1967 when the guy signed the incorrect scorecard and was disqualified after winning at the Masters.. I just brought it up because I thought it was relevant since the same Masters hiearchy DQ'd him back then.. If your referring on who I thought might win the tournament.. I'm not going to ever say Tiger is not a threat despite his drought, but have always said there is no value betting him with these low odds.. I thought +660 going into Sunday was reasonable and thought it was a good idea to protect the winners I had in contention on the 1st page
You mentioning this mad me think of something that happened over 30 years ago. Ricboff will like this story. I was about 25 or 26 so it was either 1980 or 81 and I was working the summer for my step brother who was starting his first year as head pro at a club in Conn. I was working in the pro shop one afternoon when this guy and woman walk in. The guy was a big guy, well dressed, dark complexion. I could tell he was foreign. The woman spoke and said he wanted to play 9 holes. I said sure and before I could say anything else, he reached in his pocket and pulled out his money clip to show me which had his name on it. The name said Roberto DiVicenzo. I swear to God I almost blurted out, hey you're the guy who got DQ from the Masters years ago. Luckily I didn't and instead welcomed him and acknowledged that I knew who he was. The woman explained that they were on their way to Newport to play in a Senior event when they saw the golf course from the highway. My step brother was out playing and on the 18th green by now so the 2 of them went out and played 9 holes. Word got out and by the time they finished about 40 or 50 members had shown up to watch. DiVicenzo stay quite while afterwards and talked with everyone. He was a real nice guy and made it a point to stop by every year for next few years when playing in the Newport tournament to play 18 holes at our course.
by the way, for those who don't know the DQ of DiVicenzo was much different than what happened with Tiger. DiVicenzo made a birdie on 17th hole and his playing partner wrote down a 4. DiVicenzo did not notice the error and signed the card which resulted in the DQ. Just a dumb error cost him.
